I found a planet which the weather was labelled as [REDACTED]
I wonder if they plan on adding more functionality to the actual frigates, like you can walk around them, and some have interiors, but ATM they're just scenery.
Uh can't you like send them on missions, or do you mean stuff to do while you're in them.
Yeah in/on them. So this planet was labelled as 'Life-Incompatible'. I'm seeing a lot of life here. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/277f8c1a-5f32-4ff0-b37d-1cd166f46ddc/275850_20180727121207_1.png
Has anyone got this bug where it keeps randomly changing which home base computer you gotta use to update your blueprints?, rather than using the one that is set as my current base it keeps drawing random home base computers from older bases, it even grabbed my freigther once...
alright, I actually haven't seen any animals yet
Man getting your first freighter is super easy, just was killing some guys now I have one, the missions give you the big bucks. One of them was fighting pirates and there were like 20 so I backed out. It counted as completed and I got heaps of units lol
God the performance is just ass. Looking towards the exit of a station from the point I landed at, 60fps. Turn left to look at the NPC section of the station, 24fps. GPU usage drops to 60%, CPU usage drops to 18%, 7 of my 8 cores are used but none are above 18%. Look back into space, 60fps, back to 20% CPU usage, GPU usage back to 100% The fuck man
Thank you! I thought I was alone in this, my computer gets destroyed every time I try to play. I get maybe 5 seconds every minute where I have perfect FPS, then I freeze and stutter the rest of the time. GPU goes up to 100% usage all the time and my computer gets loud as hell. Done the shader cache 'fix' and various other things I've found online, to no avail. Running 16gb ram and a gtx980, when I played on its release I didn't have any such thing happening on this same machine.
This was in the game since launch.

I don't think it was.
I've had the game since launch and I specifically remember it because it was the first feature that actually impressed me. They've improved it though, because it used to only wrap around planets to get to another planet/space station and now you can wrap around to get to a waypoint on the same planet.
Oh that is what I thought you were referring to.
how does the new multiple ship system work? I've salvaged a crashed ship but I want to hold on to my old one, will it be possible to summon it later from a pad after leaving it on a planet? I've read you can park them in your freighter to carry them around but how can I bring both ships into orbit without leaving something behind
you can choose to add it to your available ships or exchange it for a price reduction. if you keep it, you can either use the "call ship" button and go under "call other ships" and your non-primary ship(s) will be under that. otherwise the ship will be automatically parked in the landing spots on your freighter
You don't need to worry about leaving them behind. They'll spawn in your freighter after a while. You can choose any ship you want through the quick menu on the surface of a planet, I don't remember exactly where the option is, but it is there.
I actually got a bug where the game decided to spawn both of my ships on the same pad in my freighter, but because the backend code treats landing bays like a mini-planet, the first ship I put there had its pad space overwritten by the second one, and was instead being treated like it had just landed on random ground on a planet. And then because landing and taking off is so on-rails, that ship attempted to take off using the same sequence as it would when landing on a planet, i.e: fly straight up and clip into the freighter, get stuck inside its collider, and force a reload
I got into another one of those encounters where you defend a freighter and then get it as a reward. I guess you can only have one? Upon accepting it, it seems like I lost my old one and all the cargo it was holding? Did I miss a warning message?
Im pretty sure they pull up a transfer option beforehand like regular ships. Also I feel like the biggest piece of shit when I trade my garbage crashed ship that cant even take off for a brand new one for free.
This is what I used to do, but the sentinels seem to follow me into the atmosphere now. It's easy enough to lose them on-planet, but there's not much I can do if I accidentally attack a freighter in space and summon them with no nearby planet to flee to. I should have clarified, I did mean using the ship to go from waypoint to waypoint on a single planet. It was just a pain having to leave the atmosphere and deal with terrible loading frames, now I can smoothly coast around the planet. It's such a welcome improvement.
sooooooo my mining frigate de-loaded when i landed my ship and it caused me to fall back into the atmosphere at terminal velocity: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/213360/54a80717-cebc-40f5-9c41-3558a277ba10/20180727222653_1.jpg

Was having a great time playing this game until I realized when you get into combat in space there's literally no fucking option to escape it other than flying to the closest planet for the next 5 fucking hours A sentinel scanned me on a planet and immediately starts attacking me, I fly away into space, pulse jump only to get pulled out of the fucking pulse jump halfway between planets until I die because I can't kill the goddamn things
gek master race
As a follow up, I missed the advice to enable triple buffering in the Nvidia control panel, like a derp. Doing that solved the extremely debilitating freezing and stuttering, can totally have a great time, now!
You can escape to another planet to hide or call your fleet to provide you haven while your NPC ships rid you of your pests.
So discovery system is weird. It'll only show renamed planets and animals if you reload the save, then someone joins. Otherwise it just shows the original name.
Yeah it's funky as hell.
oh, even better, I find an abandoned ship click "add to collection" turn around and my old ship is gone along with all the stuff in it and i have nothing to fix this ship with
