I've been enjoying the game since I started a few days ago, but I was feeling pretty letdown by the planets I was finding. Most of them were ugly grey and brown rocks and the rest that weren't were still kinda ugly in their own ways. But just now i found a gorgeous tropical-looking world and managed to step into just the right spot to really leave me feeling awed by it all. https://i.imgur.com/RwZaLHs.png This game's alright.
In my experience the game ran no different between low, medium, and highest settings...so I just bumped everything up to highest and play like that since I like to take photos anyway.
is it ravaged by constant heat rainstorms?
sentinels are really good at their job https://i.imgur.com/RntML22.jpg
hey guys i found the monolith https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107240/ebc94396-de39-42c9-afe1-1af85834c433/20180731010839_1.jpg in fact, i managed to find every single one. they're all broken and floating above the ground for some reason. this is the weirdest planet i've come across so far. to give you a perceptive on how big these things are, here's another shot: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107240/33d8f18c-05a5-4e10-90e8-694c636888f0/20180731011808_1.jpg see that little space man on the bottom of the screen standing on the edge of the crater? that's me.
I also came across a weird planet the other day, full of similarly weird floating things. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/175c1ad3-925a-44c0-8bc6-1b3e6be24f9a/2018-07-31_1442_1.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/1069b996-e41f-4988-8621-afe2fb8e8db1/Jul-31@14.45.26.bmp
so I was pretty excited when I got the 'rescue a freighter' random thing the other day, fought tooth and nail when the '1' remaining pirate was like five pirates glued to each other that wouldn't die, finally secured it and got the comm to come inside and talk to the owner walked in, up the second ramp that leads to the bridge, and... there was no second floor and I fell down into the vacuum of space. Respawned at the previous system, flew BACK to the new system, nothing was there, not even my grave. I wasn't 100% cool with the ship's design but it was decent and hey free bartering chip to move up in the world, but... yeah no it was gone. so today, toward the end of my session, it seems I got a follow-up. This bad boy needed rescue https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/416398364863627268/473700472558190612/unknown.png dumb pirates were flying THROUGH its body and hugging the exterior so I had to really work at scraping them off without hitting the freighter, but I made it https://i.imgur.com/GWAW0fS.jpg I can dig it
Uhh, I have a Nvidia GTX 770, everything is on high and I get no issues with frames what so ever
It varies a lot from system to system, and also from planet to planet. I can get 60-90fps on a barren or snowy planet but on my meadowy homeworld, I drop down to 20 almost constantly.
Weird, no worlds at all are laggy for me, either. Could it be my high end i7?
R9 380, I'll get dips to 13fps. This game (I THINK) has No LoD's for models. So every NPC, Frigate, Freighter, Terminal, Ship, rendered in full ass detail even if it's so far away it's barely a pixel large Anyway, Found a temperate planet with no hazards or storms and this huge flat empty area. Bonus: Friend standing on the cliff https://i.imgur.com/2qjAaOv.jpg
wish i could find more planets with no hazard weather - fuckin sucks that literally every planet i have to rush because im gonna die in a minute
extreme planet + frenzied sentinels i cri
Just bought this last night, didnt install yet. Last time I played it was on release and then I refunded it after I got bored. I heard there is building now? Is there still no objective?
As far as I can tell, no hazardous weather
Is there a way to enable sentinels/black holes/atlas stations in creative mode? I'd like to mess around with those without having to constantly chase resources
I'm pretty sure you don't need to gather resources in Creative, you just have them all even if your inventory doesn't display it.
The more I look at this creature, the more it looks like someone's fursona. Sonic mixed with dog mixed with goat. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1717/333f1109-3652-4643-b0d7-d6a9297f40b3/20180728160918_1.jpg
reminds me of a Star Destroyer, I want it.
I'd just use cheat engine, I found a table for enabling easy base building, among other things. I wanted to play with a challenge, but still be able to build cool bases that other people also playing on the regular servers can come across. That's why I generally don't get into creative mode in general, they're often so separated from the main game experience.
Speaking of weird planets https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107253/0d553cfc-52dd-47fb-a323-67a8413a4c40/image.png
I really hate that you can't have more than one multi-tool...
There are several mission-lines now. 2 being narratives, the rest show you new mechanics or unlock new things
You know what also sucks? Having a single button to swap between modes when you can potentially have more than 2 different modes for the multitool.
There are secondary fire weapon modules. You change between them in the X menu. It's usually for different types of explosives or scopes. You only have to press G to cycle through primary fire modes. But now that I think of it. Having an armory you can put on a wall in your base or freighter where you could swap between guns would be rad, then you could tune them for specific purposes with max upgrades.
I don't mind that so much as having to scrap or forfeit all the upgrades installed on your current one; same with ships.
The game has more or less turned into "Photo mode of Exotic ship infront of things" for me at this point. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164/cbcaaf6e-2929-4bcd-868e-5de0becdf729/275850_20180728133950_1.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164/d0a01f4c-d5af-45f3-b19c-f30965bc166c/275850_20180730184511_1.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164/928a72f3-45c5-4d4a-983f-aeab9140e2ef/275850_20180731184823_1.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164/58e05b6b-e889-4d12-a7ef-5e43f83f2266/275850_20180731082348_1.png The shadow of a large capital ship creeping up on you is also quite something to behold. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/164/d59d7047-5efc-4bf0-a431-f3d268b7d5e4/YBhLn.jpg
I've never seen capital ships enter the atmosphere of any planet, that's pretty neat. Hell, didn't know they could move in anything but jumps really.
You can summon your own freighter worryingly close to the planet when you're on-foot, makes for a neat skybox decoration :v
So I got some very valuable seeds from some ancient ruins. If I plant them would I be able to sell what I grow for as much? Or should I just sell them?
