Imo focus more on getting upgrades for your tools, faster everything that way. Also question for everyone else, is money still weird like the original where most things were worth basically nothing but then you would just find a planet with some special resource/item worth millions per item?
You can build farms that make real good money or you can just get the superconductor blueprint and make heaps, then sell them because the ingrediants are way cheaper then the superconductor.

So I found a exotic ship at a space station but couldn't afford it at that point. What are the chances of seeing it again since I can buy it now.
iirc the ship spawns are tied to systems, so if you saw it once there, you should see it again.
My very first base was made on a really sweet moon-like planet. It even has low gravity somehow! https://i.imgur.com/P3hz51C.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QRldrtG.jpg
Gotcha so I should just wait at the space station untill I see it again.
Gave @Lyokanthrope a ride to Strangereal. The planet violently rejected Lyokanthrope's presence and launched them into the air upon landing. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/c1408fb9-e460-4357-b0cf-7744d6cd8b5c/20180810010330_1.jpg I think we have around 5 people settled there now if I'm counting correctly. Even though half the time I can't see your bases, it's really neat knowing we're all hanging around the same planet. We should try and organize a time to get four of us on at the same time someday. Two groups of four in the same lobby if more people arrive, maybe. Also, there's a star system near Facepunch Stronghold Kappa-One that has an airless planet devoid of all life I've called Oldpunch. Wonder if anyone will come across it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/ddb4f566-ec8e-447d-aa30-a8093e7bb1b5/20180810011132_1.jpg "idk i'm not really good at posing for photos" - Lyokanthrope
I hope at some point they make us able to build or find small robotic companions, with different variants of locomotion/mobility, spider legs, bipedal legs, four-legged, flying helicopter and powered glider, etc. Then you could have a real procgen infinite ratchet and clank with this game. Oh yeah and allow us to assume direct control of it so we can use it as a cheap scouting drone.
How do i seek out different multitools? I have an ugly as hell one thats OK, but i've been getting a lot of upgrades for it and i want to invest in one i won't hate to look at.
Crashed ships some times have option to grab dead pilot's tool, space stations and minor settlements are all far as I know.
Adding to this, the space anomaly has one where you first see Polo (he tends to move around the ship). It changes each time you visit iirc, or at least each time it's summoned. Sometimes a vy'keen will say something about your multitool and offer another one for free (tho it does need repairs generally).
Every space station has one for sale next to the multitool upgrade vendor, on the wall.
but depending on the size of the tool, it can be hard to interact with.
I have an idea for an alternative to a facepunch planet colony, a facepunch planet colony network, of portals!
It annoys me greatly that if you have a "rifle" multi-tool you still hold it like pistol in first person
You can already freely move in-between your original home system and Strangereal using the station teleporter.
ayy lmao https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/f1a41f34-1426-4bb9-964a-dcf82fbf5d56/20180809185819_1.jpg
So After my last post I spent 2 ish hours waiting at a space station for the exotic I saw I got nothing. Literally as soon as I decided to try a trading post within a minute of landing the damn thing showed up! I think it looks pretty good! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210396/776d0691-3ec1-45ad-b968-6e8166253b38/20180809234816_1.jpg
Just picked this game up after watching some of Vinesauce's streams. Pretty fun so far. Is the first system you spawn in supposed to be super barren and very non-economic?
Sadly it is fully random as far I know, no nothing like in Starbound where they made your spawn place is lush and non lethal.
Every first planet I got was a hostile death zone
Yeah, I think it's done as an incentive to get the fuck off there. And the planet next door has always been so much more attractive for long term stay. Not like this new planet I've found Paradise world Sentinels : frenzied IT'S NOT A FUCKING PARADISE THEN IS IT!
At least every time you leave the base you get to play shooty shotoy bang bang defend your fort.
Also depends if you're playing in survival mode or normal.
This game needs sentry guns. I want my little research base to be a impenetrable bulwark of resistance against these sentries
So I decided to scout some of the planets neighboring Strangereal, see what cool shit might be on them, and uh https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/e8c7c021-4879-41d4-90e9-74471fa0fabd/20180811024533_1.jpg hahah nah fuck this thing https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/69029542-1afc-461a-827c-f94ae790762f/20180811024549_1.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/185499/a5accbfc-06ee-4d1f-be0e-0834bbcce722/20180811025004_1.jpg anything using that spider/crab template is fucking gross, planetary scale extinction when?
Is 'Strangereal' a Facepunch Planet?
It all really depends on how the servers are feeling at the time. Generally you won't see anyone on the planet without being in a multiplayer game, but if the servers are running okay and two people are on the same planet at the same time, you'll see others as a traveling Orb you can interact with.
That's a nice hamster ball you got there
