This is one of those games that may very well suffer without modding support. I can get loads of fun out of exploring more than most as I like that but even for me I can see the potential problem. Sean did say in the video he wants to carry on developing for NMS after release so who knows what kind of content he plans for the future.
Is there any information on building structures and such? I'd really love to setup a base on a moon planet or some kind of asteroid when the game comes out.

Another hope I have for this game is rain. Propper rain that really alters the mood. Dark clouds overhead visible from space, rain splashing on your cockpit's glass. I love games that do rain properly.

It does not look like rain splashes on the cockpit at the time of the videos being made. It can also snow on snowy planets.
Didn't even notice that. Cheers.
here's to hoping for splashing rain effects on pc
The wait for this game becomes more unbearable by the day, goddamn.

I'd love to be able to make a giant tanker/carrier ship. I'm probably way too hopeful though.

I'm probably way too hopeful though.
My gut feeling is that since dogfighting and space battles seem to be one of the main focuses, I don't think it would make sense for you to operate a vessel so big that it would be handicapped in combat because of it's size and lack of maneuverability. We're probably stuck with the X-wing/Millenium Falcon sized ships, which I'm also okay with.
I'm cautiously excited about this game but I feel like the wonder of finally coming across another player after hours of gameplay will be diminished once the community switches to KOS mode. I've been burned too many times by these survival-type mp games before so I hope that it will be asynchronous mp. Just my two cents though. I'm sure there are plenty who think otherwise and would happily gun me down ingame.
Whether people want to kill you or not depends a lot on if there's any profit in it. If you can scavenge the remains of someone's ship for money/minerals whatever, you can expect some people might try to kill you. However if there's no gain in it whatsoever, there's really no point and I don't think this game encourages the kind of murderous mentality DayZ does for example.

If not, then "killing" other players will likely involve putting a bounty on their head, which would sic AI NPC bounty hunters on them.

I also imagine that a lot of players might find PvP refreshing after much time spent interacting with NPCs, so it doesn't really matter if there are items to be gained from the activity. Outmaneuvering and destroying another random stranger you come across is its own reward. That's why KOS will probably be prevalent if the multiplayer is indeed synchronous. Just the nature of these types of games, and that's what I'm worried about. [editline]28th June 2014[/editline] I find this press sheet especially interesting.
PARALLEL UNIVERSES - Choose to share your discoveries with other players, or not. So that we can avoid another pointless argument on the same subject as before because people cannot seem to help themselves have some fan art.
Its not an argument its a confirmation but if you really want to try and argue against "You will never see another player" be my guest
Did you really just ask me if I want to argue against you after I said here let me help us avoid an argument why try and start shit. All I am going to say is that the comment you posted was from half a year ago and in that space of time many things can change. He has also contradicted himself since then by saying players can meet. I will not disagree that what you posted is by far a more solid confirmation than anything else but I still think there is hope and will wait for confirmation that is not half a year old considering what has been said recently. There is my opinion and position on the subject I will now refrain from the discussion of multiplayer until more is said by the devs on the subject.
That's if there's multiplayer. Otherwise you would get a bounty even though you killed the player in self defense, and that would be pretty crappy, especially if you're a passive kind of player that just wants to explore and cooperate with any other player.

I really dig this one.
"You see that mountain? You can fly on it."
Is this a reference to skyrim somehow? I've heard it being used in that conjunction but I've never understood it.
Is this a reference to skyrim somehow? I've heard it being used in that conjunction but I've never understood it.
it's a reference to the new Legend of Zelda trailer that was released this E3.
it's a reference to the new Legend of Zelda trailer that was released this E3.
No, during the e3 2011(ithink) footage of skyrim, todd howard was all like "You can go anywhere you can see in Skyrim. You see that mountain over there? You can climb it!"
I wonder how much customization there'll be in the game. I assume, since they say each player's ship and equipment will be unique, that we will be able to somehow customize it a bit. I'd love to toss something like red stripes on my ship with a black finish.

They've said that you can buy new ships from space stations. By unique, they're probably referring to the fact that each ship is procedurally generated.

You would never need to kill another player in self defense, as there would be no other players in your game. Again, I'm hammering this point because every time I turn my back on a thread for this game, expectations start to drift away and I need to pull them back down. People make up random shit and decide they are facts, and that's what happened with Spore, and Starbound, and any other hyped to hell game. I'm just pointing out which facts are bullshit and which are not to prevent that from happening again.
