Not gonna lie, probably won't buy this game if I can't actually meet and do stuff with other players.

You can, it just might take a few days, since players will first have to explore planets and mark them. Or something...

I meant if they're going the Spore route and not having direct player interaction at all.
Is this a reference to skyrim somehow?
I've heard it being used in that conjunction but I've never understood it.
Actually, it was a DOOM reference.
I think you need to read my post again. You would never need to kill another player in self defense, as there would be no other players in your game.
Again, I'm hammering this point because every time I turn my back on a thread for this game, expectations start to drift away and I need to pull them back down. People make up random shit and decide they are facts, and that's what happened with Spore, and Starbound, and any other hyped to hell game. I'm just pointing out which facts are bullshit and which are not to prevent that from happening again.
I never took your post as a fact, maybe you should read my comment again, like, right at the start.
I meant if they're going the Spore route and not having direct player interaction at all.
I doubt that'll be the case. There's still a long time till the game's release, and some of the things they've said have been retracted since. With any luck, you might be able to meet other players relatively fast, or perhaps some kind of hubs might be created by both players and NPC alike.
So the guy who made this poster

Also made this one.

You can download his art in many different resolutions from 1280x800 to 2560x1440 and also all Ipad resolutions.
No offense, but you're unhealthily obsessed with this game :v:
Makes me want to see your responses if the game fails to impress at its launch.

I am exited for this game but I like building on planets and making them my home so this game already does not impress me as much as I would like it too. My excitement for this game is mainly with the modding that will hopefully happen to it rather than what it will be like on launch. I have been modding for 6 years so if it is possible I would love to make mods for it myself as well. If they decide not to include modding support the largest part of my hype will be lost. I still love exploring games so I will still play and enjoy it just nowhere near as much.
The sad thing is nothing has been said about modding and something is telling me it wont be included but I still hold hope.
Depending on how procedural the game is, modding support can be very difficult to add in. If the everything including the ships and weapons are procedurally generated (which is possible, Limit Theory does it) then I would seriously doubt there being any modding.
When everything is procedurally generated you can't, for example, mod a new weapon in because there are no weapon files to begin with. The most you could do is change the algorithm that generates the weapon, but I seriously doubt those algorithms would be exposed to the world. The general rule of thumb for something being moddable in this kind of game is if it some object/feature was procedurally generated, it probably can't be changed.
Minecraft is the only procedurally generated game I can think of with notable modding, but that's only because people are literally modifying the source code to the game. I guarantee you will not have that kind of access to No Man's Sky's code.

This is why I don't think modding will be included but because nothing has been said I will just have to hope.
Now I know we have only seen the same spacecraft being flown but I do wonder if the cockpit is going to be the same in every spaceship so there is some hope for the ability to create non procedural stuff and add it to the game but still really unlikely.
Any game with enough popularity will receive mods whether it's supported or not.

GTA 4 is a very good example.
GTA 4 mods happened because of a lucky exploit, games like sleeping dogs have no content mods because it's not possible.

I somehow doubt it'll remain modless for long.
GameSpot's "Next Big Game" is @NoMansSky. Next week we launch a bunch of crazy videos about this wondrous game.
Obviously no idea if these videos are just going to be their own speculations on the game or if it will be anything exclusive involving Sean Murray and new footage.
Gameplay footage when?
Gameplay footage when?
Everything we've seen is gameplay. Albeit scripted, but ingame footage nonetheless.
New RPS article about NMS, something about mod support (Or lack of it).
Its in the news node somewhere.

In engine footage and game play are not even remotely similar things.

tech demo @ E3 =/= gameplay
tech demo @ E3 =/= gameplay
But it wasn't a tech demo, that was the game.
tech demo @ E3 =/= gameplay
Pretty sure there is a video of one of the devs playing it.
Everything we've seen is gameplay. Albeit scripted, but ingame footage nonetheless.
Unfortunately presentation footage is just modern illusionist tricks. They get you hyped on a new product and after you blindly follow these presentations and get the end result their HOPE is that you'll still blindly follow it even though it's not even close to what they promised and/or the gimmicks get old really quick, but because you become such a hardcore fan you feel entitled to praise the game solely because you feel invested in to it. Then once the novelty wears off you sigh and shelf it feeling like it was a mission accomplished even though you just got scammed from the get-go and it took you a couple of months to realize it, but by then the damage has already been done and you still feel like it was an investment
just like watchdogs. and far cry 2. and pretty much every call of duty for the last half decade. just like assassins creed.
these are AAA titles but unfortunately the indie market are starting to realize how to profit off of hype-syndrome.
[editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
premeditated marketing schemes work, but unfortunately they never actually promise a good product
I have faith in these guys JUST because it's obvious that they feel that they've made good investments in their product and because they're eager to show off more of their game, but right now there's nothing to get hyped about until they show off genuine gameplay and not "X level with 100% scripted events"
[editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
Pretty sure there is a video of one of the devs playing it.
the PR people in most e3 presentations are sitting there and playing the game too, but they're playing in highly scripted events so essentially all they are doing is walking from point A to point B to point C and triggering events so they can showcase ideas. ideas not necessarily fully implemented. ideas that might never actually be included. ideas that are sometimes perceived as new and rewarding but are often mistaken for something that's actually super repetitive and unrewarding.
for example this game really doesn't have much to offer other than "planet exploration" and "dogfighting in space." until they set down key gameplay oriented goals or explain what this whole "why you have to travel to the center of the galaxy" thing is so important it seems very likely to get old within the first few hours of playing. like starbound.
and pretty much every call of duty for the last half decade.
Eh? The COD E3 Segments have always played exactly like the Stage Demo in the retail game. The most they would do is give the presenter god mode.

I mean they always brag about new gimmicks that get really stale really quick, such as killstreaks or new game modes. like that alien invasion co-op shit
[editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
oh. titanfall is another good game with a die-hard gimmick routine: mostly because there's only about thirty dollars worth of content in the base game

It looks like they have a LONG way to go before we see a release for this game on any platform but that was expected anyway.
only pic that stood out was the one with the piece

The dev DS4's look ugly(or maybe its the camera angle?).
I thought the animals were all procedural, how is he modeling one?
I literally know nothing at all about anything, is that like, a base model or something?
