30-40 quid sounds good to me. I'll end up buying all the DLC anyways.
I'd only pay over $30 for KF2 if they don't push out a shitload of DLC for it again
Not quite sure how to tell you this but that fuckload of DLC allowed tripewire to
A: Make RO not a complete clusterfuck like it started out to be
B: Spend a looooooooooooooot of money making KF2 the awesomeness we see today
If you don't want it, don't buy it. You have the pants in this relationship, it's up to you to wear them not on your head and buy or not buy.
Tripewire listens more than most and dollars are really loud.
I wish we would call it something other than downloadable content, since we aren't really downloading any content.
It's more like unlockable content.

Yeah, I didn't buy every single bit of DLC, but when I did I was doing it as much to support Tripwire as for the actual content I was getting. They added a ton of stuff to the game, so I didn't mind throwing some money their way ever once in awhile.

I agree with that mostly, except when it comes to weapon DLCs. From the interviews I've read about KF2, they're either dodging the question about weapon DLCs or implying that they're seriously considering doing the same thing again. I really hope they change their minds about that.
I'd gladly pay 40€ for KF2 (that's pretty much the most I ever pay for a game), and I'm completely okay with the skin packs (I even bought a bunch of them for KF1), but locking away content that affects gameplay like that is just wrong.
I hope Paramedic Alfred will make a return in one of the skin packs.

Money is not a direct correlation to game quality.
It is to non-corporatized devs whose sole source of income is being awesome.
Yet KF1 was made on a shoestring budget compared to KF2.
roflmao, if you think non reference assets grow on trees and you can pay 70 people [housing/food/family/insurance/bonuses/working pay/ benefits] for four years by blowing sunshine out of your ass; I eagerly await your first masterpiece.
I mean the SDK is 20 bux a month, I'm sure you can cook up something. KF2 is a lot more ambitious than the first, and the art assets are from scratch this time.
Who said you needed mo capped animations and the entire shabang to make a good game?
I liked KF1 because the mechanics were really solid. I don't care about mo capped animations or the gore system or the improved lighting system in KF2. I'm just hoping the gameplay is good. (And non fucked up hitboxes)
I'd pay 40-50 for it, maybe more if they come up with a special edition with some extra bells and whistles.
And when it comes to DLC i don't mind it as long as it's reasonably priced cosmetic stuff. I bought most of the character packs for KF and really liked a lot of those but the quality just went down and the price went up. In the end they were charging for lazy foster reskins and those terrible steampunk and golden weapons that cluttered the shit out of everything. I started to dislike it when they started selling weapons unique to their class and it just went downhill from there, imo.
Payday 2 has a similar kind of deal and is arguably worse when it comes to being p2w but at least they never dropped the quality and their stuff is very reasonably priced and goes for a couple of bucks during sales, as a result most of the playerbase have at least half of the DLCs and don't complain as much about it. I hope tripwire does something similar if they do end up going for weapon DLCs again(which i hope they don't to begin with).
as long as the dlc is character skins only i'm fine with it. i think the weapon dlc's are a bit too much, especially those neon/gold color skins that do nothing but make the guns look awful.

At least those were cosmetic and not upgrades/the new meta.
I can't be too mad though, because it was around that point in KF's life that I had already sunk some insane hours in with some mates, including the UT2k4 mod, so it was time for a break.

I think $40 would be a good price point. That's a good spot to get people to buy things, especially if it's discounted for pre-orders or has a loyalty bonus for KF1 owners or something.
I'm okay with paying however much money they want because we all know the money will go straight to making RO3 or whatever genius they have up their sleeves.

I'm all for good gameplay, but I'd wager mo-cap, gore, and the lighting system would help with adding onto gameplay.
Who said you needed mo capped animations and the entire shabang to make a good game?
TW did
Well, they said to make a proper sequel you should take everything that worked in the first game and iterate on it, which I would argue they have
It's funny you mention not caring about the mocapped animations and the lighting system, since both change the gameplay quite drastically - compared to KF1, zeds will be much harder to hit on higher difficulties due to their improved movement patterns, meaning their health doesn't need to be buffed so high, and the dynamic lighting forces players after a battle to either fight in the dark or move to a new undamaged location in the map
The gore system doesn't change gameplay in a significant way, but to say you don't care about that either? I feel sorry for you man, the MEAT system truly is a sight to behold, but each to his own
The hitboxes won't be fucked anymore though, that's confirmed

Odd question but did you run the Doom Server?
It has always rocked side to side since the map was introduced, just it never worked on dedicated servers. Till now (single player had it and so did the host of a listen server).
It's not hard to counter but i understand the motion sickness people experience with it which is why it should be an option.
Really? I've been playing this game for a loooong time and I have never seen this before until now. Shame, it used to be one of my favorite maps, top 5 easy.
I should remind you all that motion captured animation alone does not look immediately good, and often you have to go in and manually tweak and refine everything to look proper. Otherwise you will often have limbs drifting around when they are supposed to be still and other imprecise movements.
Odd question but did you run the Doom Server?
Nah, I almost played entirely with friends. I hosted for them a lot, but rarely ever let the public in.
I'm so fucking giddy for this, I need it now :[
Last time I was this excited for a game release was Half-Life 2
I wonder if they are still going to do paid weapon DLCs even though there is going to be a versus mode?
I wonder if they are still going to do paid weapon DLCs even though there is going to be a versus mode?
There's going to be a versus mode?
Well, yes. These days a lot of studios are wiser about it, but there are still times when it is easy to see unrefined mocap being used in final. Take RWBY for example.
I'm sure KF2 is going to be fine, though.

You must have not bought the game at launch because it was fun and inspired hot mess. Allow me to scrape the nostalgia off your glasses.
Balance for the classes was completely broken, every server was pretty much a killhoggamania starring sharp with special guest star commando as do my light work and featuring every other class as get the fuck out of the server noob, several maps had glitches that allowed you to camp with impunity and just float your way to victory and there was no Husk to clamp down on the medic, and no stunning set ups for every class on every monster.
All that stuff, things like the berserker not sucking and shotguns and assault rifles being amazing came later, after dlc payed for that stuff to happen.
Secondly, half the bitching that comes from custom content is because the game was so cheap to begin with, which makes tight asses butthurt about having to pay a quarter to a third of the price of the game itself for after market content. If the game is a normal price that shit doesn't happen, and the staff doesn't have to trudge though five pages of whining to get to a viable question or bug notice.

They hinted at it in this podcast at 41:35.
