the flamethrower looks so bad. evolve and rtcw are the only two games i know of with good looking flamethrowers.

I always like how Killing Floor had the "weighted" flamethrower physics. Throwing flaming liquid is way better than having a puff of fire in front you.

That and the early access version of the game isn't even out yet and by the time it is they could upgrade the visuals a bit.

It definitely looks better than the second video. It's got the exact same problem you described for the RS one. You can see individual particles. At least with the way Rising Storm one acts when it hits an object, it looks more natural.

Just particles traveling in a straight line from its emitter.

At least with the way Rising Storm one acts when it hits an object, it looks more natural.[/QUOTE] doesn't matter, it still has more particles than the rs flamethrower. it's not noticeable in-game like it is in rs. that's also not max settings, and on max settings there are even more particles as well as particle motion blur like in crysis 3. the rs flamethrower particles look like they're rendered at 15 fps or some shit too, further decreasing fluidity. i will admit i don't know why the actual flamethrower weapon in evolve looks worse than the goliath's flame breath. rtcw doesn't even have this problem and it's a little over 13 years old :)

The only way anyone would put that into an actual game is if they rendered the effects at like a quarter of that resolution, and even then they'd still have to be used sparingly.
Even at that resolution, that still doesn't look [i]that[/i] great either. Fire is too hard.

Also can be used for non-realtime things like TV Show FX etc.

I bought RTCW the day it came out and i still own that very same CD now and I play through it at some point every year, the flamethrower was phenomenal at the time and i will NEVER forget how godlike it looked nor the immense amount of fear i felt when i had to take down the enemies using it, all 6 of them. It looked fantastic and is scared the shit out of me. But the damn thing is 14 years old, I'm not abut to sit here and say no game has made it better even though i very much have my rose tinted nostalgia goggles bolted to my face when it comes to that game.
I just want to play the game personally I really don't give a shit what the fire looks like, hopefully I won't have to turn down the graphics too much

Seriously, an SS tagging with a demo+bug might as well go afk/change locations because he sure as hell won't be killing anything with that AOE. Well, except the occasional scrake/FP, but that still only counts as 1 headshot.
With all the head bobbing and such, Sharpshooter is going to be a lot harder this time around, I wonder if they will get stronger weapons/perk abilities to compensate.
This sharpshooter-talk reminds me that I still don't have that achievement for KF1 where you have to get 25 headshots in a row with the goddamn lasersight on the EBR.
