I just did it about 20 minutes ago after unlocking all the achievements I needed and then some without getting Mrs. Foster. Works like a charm.

Is it always the same sort of survive the 7 waves and boss thing or is there other game modes?

Other than changing the length of the game, Objective mode was just released. There's only one map for it though. I'm sure the community will come up with more.

There was already a few story maps before Obj came about. To name a few of the good ones. Candlesmoke, resident evil mansion story, olde tower, damnation and my personal favorite Road to Perdition (but that one's very hard).
I'd even argue that some of those are actually a lot better than the official map despite the problems that go with them being bodged together in a game that did not support objectives.

To be honest, when I started, I always played with my younger brother, but when he quit multiple months ago, I had to play with randoms too.
But eventually, you will run into a group that wants to stick together for more than one night. It might come out of nowhere, but trust me, it will eventually come.
I met my best online friend in Killing Floor.
My old roommate/classmate plays KF regularly as well.
I play most of the time with them, but playing with randoms isn't that bad either.

Tried restarting, verify, did that Hunting Shotgun trick on the forums, none of them seems to work at all.
WHY IS ABUSEMENT PARK SUCH A TIGHT MAP UGHH
Solo mode on it is torture on Normal for me, I just want to get the normal completion achievement so I can get Punk'd and then proceed to obtain Mrs. Punk'd

The only damned reason I got this game on Steam is to play it with a friend, and she is also bitched the fuck out by these models. I get that they're trying to spice up the game or someshit, but could these fucking fucks keep in mind that some fucking people want to experience Killing Floor and not 2G00FY4U fl00r?

Personally I love the event skins because the default ones look outdated as hell and need to be updated.
In fact, I wish that during the rest of the year, those unique models would stay on "their" maps.
One week with the new halloween models weren´t enough, the patriarch model and lines were too cool.

I somewhat dislike the event for a small list of reasons.
1. Midget clot is fugly as shit and annoying to listen to
2. muh precious aim (The huskotrons)
3. A lot of the models are poorly made, Monkey Man Scrake's chainsaw smoke isn't always attached to him, and Assistant stalkers have broken cloaking (although it is handy, it makes them virtually half visible clots)
4. I don't want to see what the siren can do with her legs
