Just wait 'til PC version is out so you can play the story the way it deserves to be played. It's easy enough to not go to any video game related places for two weeks.
my biggest fear is that i've watched enough metal gear videos on youtube that it'll recommend me mgsv videos with spoilers in the title
my biggest fear is that i've watched enough metal gear videos on youtube that it'll recommend me mgsv videos with spoilers in the title
this happened to me with the ending of gta v and it made me salty as fuck
I feel like i really am going to have to just stop using the internet until MGSV is released. Its going to be special, and there wont ever be a chance to experience a new Metal Gear for the first time, with little to no knowledge of the story beforehand, again.
I got the Legacy collection to keep me busy during the wait for TPP Good time to pick it up because i never played any MGS game besides GZ
I got the Legacy collection to keep me busy during the wait for TPP Good time to pick it up because i never played any MGS game besides GZ
For the love of god play them in release order, don't listen to anyone telling you otherwise
People who tell you otherwise are controlled by the Patriots.
I gotta say, i got hooked to the series INSTANTLY just by watching TPP trailers and gameplay videos. After that i had to play GZ and here i am now waiting for the legacy collection to arrive
For the love of god play them in release order, don't listen to anyone telling you otherwise
Is there a reason for that though?
People who tell you otherwise are controlled by the Patriots.
The la-li-lu-le-lo?
Is there a reason for that though?
The series is very story heavy and it evolves with the gameplay from one game to the next. If you play them out of order you'll be very confused as to who people are, what's going on, or how to play the game.
i dont think ive ever seen anyone advocate for a chronological order lol that said i did fuck up the order, played pw before mgs4 because i don't own a ps3 that one didn't seem to be a huge deal tbh
i dont think ive ever seen anyone advocate for a chronological order lol
There aren't that many but a lot of newcomers to the series often get the idea that they should play the games in chronological order because with a lot of other series it would make sense, but since MGS goes into anachronism overdrive with the story and constantly references characters and events that wouldn't even be around at the time of the game, it's a really bad idea to play them that way. Not to mention the gameplay aspect.
Redesigning my room created a giant empty wall, what better way to deal with it than this? [t]http://i.imgur.com/T6j7peU.jpg[/t] The posters are actually huge, they just look small in this photo
Get those framed man
Get those framed man
I totally would to protect them but I think frames would ruin the look unless I get something transparent or something thin and black to match the color scheme, and I'm planning to get these two eventually, maybe in a smaller size though [editline]31st July 2015[/editline] Maybe this too http://www.amazon.com/CGC-Huge-Poster-Metal-MGS203/dp/B00YB3C6TK/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1438407146&sr=8-17&keywords=metal+gear+solid+artwork You pretty much can't go wrong with a room decorated with Yoji Shinkawa artwork
While you should still play the games in release order, none of the big boss/prequel games really require knowledge of the rest of the series. The argument for playing chronologically isn't that its preferable to playing release order, its that it works. They make a few nods towards the other games, but their stories are completely understandable on their own. If you played 2 or 4 first, you would be completely lost.
While you CAN play 3 first you miss out on the wider implications of the story. You won't know the password being "Who are The Patriots?" "La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo" is significant, you won't catch the significance of the encounters with Ocelot to his character, and the information about the Philosopher's Legacy and it's state will seem pretty out of place considering it has nothing to do with Big Boss' mission. It also makes the older games harder to go back to as each game iterated on what came before. MGS2 added first person aiming, hanging, and swimming. MGS3 added a controllable camera and CQC. MGS4 added third person aiming and a load of small improvements to pretty much every system, especially CQC.
No. Release order or bust. Speaking of Metal Gear got a PS1 copy of MGS today (finally) and the original version of Snake Eater. All I need now is a physical copy of GZ and MGR, plus a seperate MGS4.
mgs1-3 will always be the best metal gear solid games. mgs5 was inspired by skyrim and gta 5 and its already been reported the missions are repetitive quest missions dumb me but im just trying to break it to you so you are not sad when it comes out
I don't think anyone is expecting mgsv to play similarly to mgs1-3.

Peace walker suffered from the repetetiveness only because of how simplified it had to be in all the ways for the psp.
1-3 style top-down tactical espionage action will always hold a special place in my heart, but I'm also super hype for the structure and gameplay of V
yes but its just farcry 2 2.0 and peace walker 2.0
You know, I really want to learn more about Solid Snake's personal life. He's probably a lot of fun at parties.
yes but its just farcry 2 2.0 and peace walker 2.0
Open world is the most logical step for stealth games to go if you want to avoid them becoming puzzle games. Hitman has been struggling with map size for years and in the new game they seem to have just said "Fuck it" and made the levels fucking gigantic. MGSV is also implementing a lot of smart mechanics that allow you o tackle situations how you want. Like you can cause an alert at once base to draw guards away from another base, or take out a base to prevent another from having access to reinforcements. After he retired he moved to Alaska to lead snow dogs and drink. After Shadow Moses his only friend is one of the only survivors from that mission.

i'm not trying to deflect your argument but straight up saying "mgs5 isn't well crafted" is pretty dumb since the game isn't even out yet
I find it funny that you keep saying Far Cry 2 specifically, considering that that game was heavily criticised for being a load of corridors when people expected an open open world game.
