you guys are scaring me. MGS V will be really good right? RIGHT??????
also, one month left. the hype is real.
Remember that Peace Walker was designed more for you to whip out your PSP and bang out a couple side ops on the bus rather than sit down and play 13 hours of Metal Gear Solid in one sitting

We just have reason to believe that MGSV is going to be very good because we've already played GZ and that was really good, the demos showed off a lot of gameplay, Kojima got fired for sucking up a ton of money to make this the best game ever, and all the Kojima MGS games have been great.
Yeah MGS4 clusterfuck story nanomachines. We can all agree MGS4 had a lot of problems but it was not a shitty game
dont think thats the case, konami is probably alright with the money considering they made a killing on overpricing gz
They overpriced GZ because the development costs of MGSV were so high, that when Koji said he had to delay it they forced him to make a paid demo. I doubt said sales made a huge dent in paying back the money MGSV and the Fox Engine cost to make, if that helps.
Can someone post that comic of Quiet turning on Boss's cigar and Ocelot coming along?
i'm looking forward to the FOBs more than mother base itself. they're basically free player made stealth maps, only catch is you have to have yours open too
that reminds me, isn't TPP supposed to have an actual mission creator? i remember it being briefly mentioned once, but nothing since then
I don't think you get to actually "build" the FOB's though? Isn't it basically just the same way your mother base is built, platforms just appear depending on the levels of certain things?

Dont get me wrong, im really excited for tpp, its just my single serious gripe so far is that i dont think there will be enough to do around motherbase to make it worthwhile/fun to visit frequently.
that said, they are doing a mother base demo soon so that might show new things.

yeah i'm actually not sure either, guess i'm just being optimistic. it would really be a letdown if everyone's base looked the same or similar. at the very least we should be able to set guard patrols, camera placements, turrets, etc.
i agree though, mother base is looking kinda bare. can't wait to see the demo
Yeah, the optimistic side of me is saying "if they are showing an entire gameplay demo based on mother base, surely there must be more to do there" but the pessimistic side of me is saying it'll just be a simple invasion of someone elses or a defense of their own and it wont show anything new to do in it
What if someone just infiltrates your FOB, just murders every soldier he sees, and dips out of there. There would be no way to stop it.
i'm pretty sure you can turn on/off the base invasion feature whenever you want. it'd probably be a bad idea to open your base to other players while you're on a mission, but if you open it while you're goofing off or just plain exploring, then you can easily drop what you're doing and run to defend your base. things won't end so well if you're in the middle of an s rank no kill no alert hard mode run of a mission and your base is suddenly under attack
Yeah, but that's because you're playing on the same 20 or so maps over and over, you're literally repeating the same things. In fact your argument against quantity holds no water because Peace Walker's biggest problem is the lack of content forcing you to do the same shit over and over. The biggest improvement you could make to that game is to have more maps to play on.
But the question is how different every little part of the open world is actually going to be from every other part. If it's a huge world that's mostly the same, that'd arguably be much worse than a much smaller world that's all unique.

Worst case scenario, just play offline.
I just hope the base invasions can't totally fuck you over. I wouldn't want to grind for 20 hours again just to get all my stuff back.
I think I read somewhere that you can turn invasions off or make it friends only, but I dunno. But I'm super fucking hyped about how huge you can make your base. I'm gonna make mine a fortress and make it hell to sneak through.
I'm gonna put gun cameras every 10 feet on my base.
I'm gonna fill my base with goats.
If anyone here has a R9 390 or another AMD card, how has GZ run on it? I'm currently debating getting an AMD card but I don't wanted my MGSV experience gimped because of gameworks.

who needs guard patrols or cameras when you can just have a bunch of bears on the loose

It runs it pretty decently I believe. I have a 390 (though I've not tried Ground Zeroes on it yet) but it runs other modern games pretty decently at 60fps

I have a Radeon 280X and it runs ~60 fps at high detail. No performance hitches. GZ is very well optimized.
People need to keep in mind that while Ground Zeroes was pretty well optimized, it's also a very small map with not much going on. Performance wise in Phantom Pain your mileage will vary.

Thank heavens for Steam refunds.
Famitsu MGS3 Streamers just beat MGSV

Review copies really shouldn't be sent out this early.
Maybe a week before release at most.
Afaik tpp won't have gameworks. It's the old style kind of partnering with a gpu company.
Plenty of games launch with a little nvidia logo but don't use gw or physx or other nvidia tech.
Regarding invasions, I reckon it will only put you in the matchmaking pool if you're online and not in a mission. In the video where the invasion type MP was revealed there is alarms sounding when presumably the enemy was caught on your FOB, and my guess is they would want cool moments like that to be likely to experience.
The FOB isn't your mother base so troops that are just outright killed will likely just respawn. Only stolen shit will disappear.
There's no exact date but probably during Gamescom. They've finished the video, and are getting the voice overs done right now.
a week really isn't enough for it to set in and let your thoughts completely finalize on a game
i'm assuming its going to take basically 3 days to beat for most journos playing nonstop, 4 days isn't enough to write up an article on it/make a video without being dogshit
Even then, a month is too early, especially for plot-driven games like Metal Gear.
Besides, most reviewers don't even spend a lot of time on a game before judging it. Hell, look at Yahtzee.
I wonder if the Japanese version of Phantom Pain will be censored since they censored the Japanese version of Ground Zeroes.
