I just realised that this trailer isn't going to be made by Kojima
:(
What makes you say that?
I'm gonna go check on the local shop see if they sell that magazine, I want to read it for myself.

He's not outright gone from the company yet I thought?

Geoff said the Elegia trailer was Kojima's last one

Well shit.

How the fuck are you supposed to make a desert less empty, exactly?
More shrubs?

Or maybe it genuinely could feel empty and have not much to do? I know everyone is hyped but every time someone who's actually played the game criticises it they get deflected, maybe it's time to accept that MGSV won't be flawless.
I'm watching the video in fits and starts, and honestly, I'm not seeing the problems (other than the no early access to alternate tranq. weapons) that were drawn from it by others. By the sounds of it, the French guy hadn't played PW so didn't realise that the development of Motherbase is an essential part of that style of game (something that I loved about PW), and that this would carry over to MGSV. Seems like he was treating it as optional/ignoring it until suddenly he really needed the capacity of a developed MB, and all his other problems were drawn from that - He suddenly needed to do a lot of grinding at once to develop it where if he hadn't been ignoring it that would have been more naturally spread out across the past time he had with the game.
Arnaud points out that the game looks and plays a lot like Peace Walker, I think he did play it.

Actually he's right imo.
The world doesn't need to have all these side activities. This isn't GTA. The open world is there to compliment the free-form infiltration and people need to realize that and not go into it expecting side activities in the open world and shit.

Given he then is surprised that MB is so crucial, I actually suspect that he didn't, and that was the guy doing the video who then made that comparison from what Arnaud said.
(PW is my favourite MGS tied with 3, so I'm hype)

While that's true, I think "open world stealth game" is a different genre than "open world freeroam game" ala GTA. The open world is meant to compliment freeform infiltration; I don't really give a shit if there's hobos to interact with in the desert.

By not having a huge boner over huge game maps and having the map be smaller with the landmarks being closer together. I don't exactly see how having a huge large chunks of empty desert will benefit stealth and infiltration.

Because it gives you somewhere safe(ish) to be able to do recon, and to allow you to make your way into a camp at any angle. Hell, maybe you want to snipe from a distance to complete your objective?
The distance between bases also comes into the actual gameplay saying if you cause an alert at a base, neighbouring bases will send troops over, so the travel distance gives you time to react.
You'll need free space so you can call in air extraction, otherwise it would just look stupid having your chopper fly in right beside 2 bases because they're all so close together.
It also gives the developers more flexibility in missions that aren't just infiltration. If all the bases were cramped together you wouldn't be able to do any cool vehicle chases, vehicle warfare (like tanks), ambushes on patrols, and so much more.

Yeah I'm not saying it has to have a load of stuff like that, just that it might feel empty like Arnaud said. People who are expecting free roam like GTA shouldn't hold their breath.
Geoff said the Elegia trailer was Kojima's last one
I thought he said it was his last E3 trailer???
no, in 2 days we will find out that kojima being fired and konami being orwellian was a ruse and kojima will show the real trailer proving to us that all the others were full of lies
also, the journalist copies were different games, specifically made to confuse reviewers
Just found out my college orientation starts on September 1st
woops looks like I'm not going to be oriented in anyway
I've got fucking plans. Haven't been waiting to start school for 3 years it's lower on the priority list
My family seems to think I'm joking as well
This is no joking matter
Hideo Kojima dies in a car accident. The following day Joakim Mogren excuses his disappearance from the game developer scene, and shows the first trailer of his new horror game that Moby Dick Studios is developing in cooperation with del Toro. All is forgiven, the future is ours.

This is why I ordered the ps4 version via snail mail, so it will arrive later in the day and I can do my studies.

Oh could've been, I don't remember it exactly
So I went and bought the magazine. Article doesn't bring a lot of new stuff to the table, but it does say a few interesting things :
- Konami's microtransaction stupid stuff is completely avoidable because you can grind for everything (which they did, since it was a review copy).
- They played for five days straight and still didn't get to see all that MB has to offer, it's an incredibly deep system.
- Your base will get attacked by non-player forces as well, and epidemics can start on your base.
- The chicken hat is not the most humiliating thing the game gives to bad players, there's worse but they didn't say what it was.

C'mon banana hammock camo for big boss that causes enemies to look away in embarrassment (or be so attracted that they don't shoot)

No surprise the reviewer was that poor at the game he got offered something worse than the chicken hat. :v:
Also, from the article
Just like Assassin's Creed, you can send your men to perform various missions across the globe.
I'm going to be disappointed if this isn't in there now
I'm disappointed with the supposed lack of things to do in the open world. I was really looking forward to coming across a camp of Afghani's being oppressed by Soviet soldiers and the only way to free them was to beat the Soviets in a series of dune buggy races across the desert.
