Yet somehow, Solid Snake had no idea.
Well Snake doesn't know anything, nobody even tells him that it's a sneaking mission or how Soliton Radar works, or even what the controls are until he's in the thick of it
Yet somehow, Solid Snake had no idea.
But Solid would be too young to know about the boss before she was disgraced by the patriots/US Govt/whoever, right? He'd see her as a war criminal.
what the absolute fuck this is the greatest game ever
But Solid would be too young to know about the boss after her smear campaign by the patriots/US Govt/whoever, right? He'd see her as a war criminal.
But the thing is, [sp]he didn't know her at all and EVA had to explain everything. Why didn't The Patriots just do a bit of magic and write up some new truths about The Boss anyway? They could easily have had her down in the history books as a hero.[/sp]

[sp]Honestly, from what I know of 4, it does a bad job of connecting MGS3 with the other to Gears. The implementation of CQC could have been a retcon (aka he performed it during his previous missions, we just didn't see it) but instead they had it so he didn't want to use it because of how BB betrayed him and Foxhound. Similarly, the plot elements and characters could have easily implemented into his knowledge (not like it'd come up before anyway), but instead they had him be dumb about it so they could explain to the audience.[/sp] Come to think of it, [sp]f he used it until after the events of MG1, then the theory of us playing a remake of MG1 in MGSV would be likely...it's possible, at least.[/sp]

All the Metal Gears were written as the games went along, so there's just tons of shit like this in the story. If Kojima rewrote it all from the start knowing the story as it is now so that it follows the same points but fixes all of these inconsistencies in a more coherent way, it'd probably be fucking great. But Kojima is dead now so RIP that idea.
just finished mgs 2 what a fuckin mind blow. gonna start snake eater.
it could happen, konami swears that they'll make a soulless dev team dev more metal gear games on an assembly line so they're probably working mg 1, 2, mgs1 remakes right now
I don't want someone other than Kojima to remake it. Also, they're probably gonna make spin off mobile games [sp]or a pachinko machine[/sp].
Does Snake ragdoll when he gets hit by explosives in MGSV? It was funny as shit seeing happen in MGS4.
That's one thing I miss in GZ, the ragdolls. I remember having so much fun fucking around with the Mantis Doll in 4.
just finished mgs 2 what a fuckin mind blow. gonna start snake eater.
You might want to give that a day or so. Story-wise, MGS3 is super simple compared to 2.
I remember when I was like 9, I didn't care about cutscenes in games, so I always skipped them. When I got to The End in MGS 3, I was so confused. I thought it was the end of the game, and the black vignette around the screen was just the screen slowly fading to black so the credits could roll.
You might want to give that a day or so. Story-wise, MGS3 is super simple compared to 2.
honestly, everything is going to be simple compared to the mindfuck of mgs 2. and boy do i love being able to lay on the ground with 80% camo right in front of russians blowing smoke in their faces.
Honestly, MGS2's mindfuck is still a mindfuck, but the whole game does foreshadow and lead up to it even if subtly, and in today's age it really does make more sense than it did in 2002.
Just got to chapter 3 of Peace Walker, and I realized something- [sp]you ride in on a white horse, specifically The Boss's horse. Is that D-Horse? Or is that another horse entirely? It would be pretty cool if so.[/sp]

[editline]8th August 2015[/editline] So I found out last night that you can actually swim in MGS4. Or at least, to some extent. Except the only time water appears in the game are on certain maps in MGO (good luck with that), and in Act 3 of the story, so far off the beaten path when you're supposed to be tailing that one asshole and with nothing of note over there that there's no reason to even bother. Makes me wonder if they originally intended for certain gameplay elements like that to be relevant and the hectic design schedules and other factors led to any actually deep water in direct gameplay being near-completely omitted.
Playing them in order of release is too confusing, play them in chronological order
Playing them in order of release is too confusing, play them in chronological order
no
Playing them in order of release is too confusing, play them in chronological order
You'd be even more confused by playing them in chronological order, there'd be so many references to past games you miss by doing so. Release order is the only order.
Playing them in order of release is too confusing, play them in chronological order
What do you find confusing about release order?
Playing them in order of release is too confusing, play them in chronological order
You're wrong.
Playing in chronological order would be more confusing because you'd have no idea where you are in the evolution of controls and mechanics
Just finished watching an LP of MGS 1. Was pretty cool all throughout, and I think lots of it was pretty good, but the ending, [sp]riding off into the sunset to live a new life, was interesting... but when Snake wasn't trying to sound gruff he sounded so... off.[/sp] Still, looked cool. Now just gotta watch the rest of the games. Also, what order are the games in Chronologically?
That, and even Peace Walker references things from MGS4, which you wouldn't get if you didn't play it beforehand.

You can skip mg1 and 2 and poops
I always find out of order series weird and annoying. I don't know why but I'm disappointed that 5 comes before MGS1. Dunno why.
You can skip mg1 and 2 and poops
What the fuck? Portable Ops maybe, but not MG1 and 2. You don't have to PLAY them, but you need to at least know what happened. It's only Solid Snake's fucking origin story and Big Boss's actions as a villain which then inspire every Metal Gear villain henceforth, and is mentioned like thirty times in every Metal Gear game. Not to mention MGSV is going to end either right before or during the events of Metal Gear 1. Why bother, right? If you skip MG1 and 2 then Big Boss is just some vague figure fetishized by Liquid and Solidus who you have no real reason to give a fuck about until MGS3. In addition, the existence of a new Metal Gear (REX) and any mentions of Outer Heaven are far less awe-inspiring and foreboding without the context of MG1 and 2. Don't skip 'em, kids. At least watch the movie versions.
You can skip mg1 and 2 and poops
Po-ops? Yeah, you can skip it, but MG1+2 still hold up to this day. My girlfriend just beat Metal Gear 1 and only had trouble with some parts because the guide was stupid. She'll be starting 2 tonight and it'll be even easier for her.
I always find out of order series weird and annoying. I don't know why but I'm disappointed that 5 comes before MGS1. Dunno why.
Just the way the series went- Kojima got tired of Snake's story so he's been doing BB's story ever since. Because that entails prequels, the order went all off.
What the fuck? No. You don't have to PLAY them, but you need to at least know what happened. But when you think about it, you can swim in MGS2 and MGS3, so why not 4?
