The radar in MGS2 is a weird subject. On one hand it basically takes every area you've not been to, into a blind hunt for the node since enemies make very little noise in comparison to MGS3 and there's various angles they can be patrolling at. Especially with more verticality to their field of view, compared to MGS1's linear vision guards. It does make you use corner-peeking and the first-person a lot more to scout out patrols and areas, but it's also insanely easy to just enter a place with no radar, think there's no one nearby and then get spotted from an angle you couldn't predict because a guard back there was blocked by a crate or a wall from your previous vantage point. And yet arguably there's a good story excuse for it all in the main campaign, seeing as Raiden keeps having to hook into them to learn the plans of the areas that he has absolutely no sim training and preparation for, not to mention they [sp]play into the whole meta-commentary of the wall breakdown between Raiden's reality and our game, forcing us and Raiden alike to either struggle with extreme difficulty to sneak through these areas, or find the nodes so that we don't stumble around blindly like idiots. Considering Snake didn't have to worry about this in the tanker, that just makes it one more emasculating note of irony.[/sp] [editline]10th August 2015[/editline] Oh god there's things I never noticed throughout MGS3 as i'm playing through it again. [sp]It feels like Snake knows just how much EVA is bullshitting him but he goes with it anyway, Ocelot's intentional failings to kill him as ADAM are more than meets the eye and Snake's always-convenient sparing and handling of Ocelot really makes it seem like he's onto him about his triple-agent status.[/sp]
Man, as soon as I saw the motherbase gameplay something happened inside of me and now I have preordered the game. I've never preordered anything before. Hype.
I wouldn't be surprised if Big Boss' hair just gradually turned grayer and grayer as you played the game. We already know it'll span over a much longer time than other titles, so it's entirely possible you may outright end up seeing boss have completely white hair, and through some event in the story he cuts his hair and ends up with his MG1 look.

One of my favorite songs from the series
So after seeing gameplay of MGS:TPP at gamescon, I decided to look into the MGS series for the first time ever, after playing MGS:4 for a little bit, then reading up on the back story for a couple hours, all I can say is; HOLY SHIT, why did I not get into this series sooner? So, I preordered TPP on Steam, got Ground Zeroes with it, and I played it, and holy shit it is probably one of my favorite stealth games of all time, even though it took 2 hours to complete it, I still go back and just try and approach it different ways. Lovely game Very excited now for TPP. Still in awe how I didn't find about this series sooner.

Is it like a spend half an hour trying to do a certain thing in a mission and fail having to redo it all or is it just tedious in general? I might take a stab at going for 100%

It's the fastest completion trial you have to do for Hard.
get all the XOF patches, S rank all missions on normal and hard, complete the mark all enemies trial on both difficulties on all missions
I know what needs to be done, I'm just wondering roughly how much time and effort it takes to get 100% I checked and I'm on 36% right now :unimpressed: Haven't yet done all the side ops and extra ops. Looking at the steam guides the collection stuff looks fine but S-ranking the missions on hard as well as the tagging of all enemies trial look to be the most potentially frustrating
Really annoyed theres no disk copy of TPP on pc. Really would like to put that in my collection
you guys know you don't need 100% for the GZ suit in TPP right?

Man, missing only rank S on the rescue mission on hard and getting all trials, who thought it was a good idea to put marking all enemies as a trial really needs a punch in the face. At least I'm not 100% so there's still more to do before TPP comes out.
Have I been living under a rock?
Well, the fact that DD goes from a pup to a full sized wolf suggests the story takes place over at least one year. It seems like it might be much longer - we may well see the creation of Outer Heaven in V.

I have 96% complete because I can't get S rank on the Jamais Vu missions (I followed many tactics and guides, somehow I always get two alarms), and didn't unlocked the trial of marking enemies on all the missions. I don't think I can make it before TPP comes out.

She knew the real EVA was a man but she decided to go for it anyway, hoping that Snake's crew wouldn't know or check. Lucky for her they were stupid. Also, what happened to EVA's real codename? Why did they still call her EVA after MGS3?[/sp]

If you want, put some c-4 and mines where the two rocketeers spawn. Spam your rocket on the gate guys. I got it on my second try, the smoke/c-4 tactics helped quite a bit.
Bought a copy of TPP for me and a friend yesterday, so hype.
if we do see outer heaven, i wonder whats gonna happen to TPPs motherbase
Considering how intensely fucking massive motherbase is in the latest trailer honestly wouldnt be suprised if Koji says fuck it and retcon motherbase onto outer heaven
Have I been living under a rock?
DD goes from pup to grown up, you build a motherbase from the ground up in its entirety (building platforms that large takes time), you can spend a very long time just standing in the middle of nowhere smoking a cigar to let time pass, embarking onto missions and leaving takes time, you can wait even longer to start missions to get certain conditions, so on and so forth. Additionally, some of the confirmed songs are from the 90s while Big Boss originally wakes up in 1984. This means the song selection is either an anachronism or an indication that you'll spend a lot of time out there. Since Metal Gear happens in 1995, it's possible the game will cover up to nine years of Bis Boss' life after his nine years of coma.
The collectors edition is now sold out everywhere in the US.
So I spent the weekend beating MGS via an emulator on my android tablet, seeing as you can connect a ps3 controler via bluetooth these days with no external tools (or in my case my tablet has a ful sized USB prot which is really nice) it helped pass the time on those rainy holiday evenings. I then went back and watched metal gears 1 and 2 the movie and was surpised at how many callbacks there were. [sp]For example how in MGS Meryl is basically A mix of Holly and Gustava, even right down to how you find both Meryl and Gustava in the ladies bathroom, and how Meryl/Holly get captured only for you to rescue them and make a mad dash for the exit together.[/sp] Even the soundtrack has throwbacks, I can't be the only one who thinks this is very similar to this Also MGS:4 having been my entry point into the series(Yeah... I know) made some of the points in MGS retroactivly a little cringy. [sp]for example the whole "And they lived hapily ever after" stuff with Meryl, knowng what ends up happeing in MGS:4 made the whole situation feel a little awkward[/sp]
Considering how intensely fucking massive motherbase is in the latest trailer honestly wouldnt be suprised if Koji says fuck it and retcon motherbase onto outer heaven
Well, it could make sense. For Intrude N313, Solid Snake infiltrated Outer Heaven via underwater insertion. So it's possible that Outer Heaven had platforms on the coast, going out into the water, and they extended the base inland for the desert sections. Hybrid motherbase/land base.
Well Outer Heaven is more of an idea than a place. Motherbase has already been Outer Heaven from the end of Peace Walker [sp]up until Skullface has it blown up.[/sp] Also Big Boss is really good at getting people to follow him. After Operation Snake Eater Ocelot and EVA are so loyal to him that they keep fighting for him 50 years later, he lead a revolution in San Hieronymo which led to the creation of MSF, built MSF up into hundreds of people, built Diamond Dogs up into thousands of people (if the numbers on the Motherbase gameplay are accurate), created Outer Heaven, and after being defeated went to Asia and created Zanzibar Land. The world could have been a very different place if the emotion he carried into battle wasn't hatred.
