I can hear the songs I want?... "Hey man, whatchu been doing?" "RAIDING ENEMY BASES TO THE SOUND OF IRON MAIDEN"
Yooooo the mission setup screen plays the main PeaceWalker theme. That is like my favorite track from the series that's sick.
I can't avoid to listen parts of it and remember the Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack (same composer)
Snip
Holy shit you're right, that didn't even click with me. They're making so many improvements to even just the base gameplay here. [editline]18th June 2015[/editline] Actually that doesn't appear to be the case. He might have only radioed it in because he saw the fulton but not snake. Enemies in GZ sort of do that too. When he gets spotted at the end they still just yell contact.
but even when he knocks out the next guard, the "alert cleared" noise pings. meaning, there are different levels of alerts at play here: outpost alert, and map-wide alert. CAUTION or "spotted something suspicious" probably only alerts outpost guards. i'm going to assume that there can be two different types of ALERTS or "spotted the enemy" that involve just the outpost guards and then for further soldier deployment, the rest of the map.
Going Tokyo Drift and spraying machine gun fire everywhere with the D-Walker had me diamond hard.

The shear amount of flexibility this game has is incredible. You could tackle that same mission differently every time you play it. Also, I want to command d-dog to piss on the enemies he or I defeat. This game is gonna rock.
The game looks amazing. Fultons are limited, BB started each time with 12 of them. I wonder how many option we'll have when dealing with the super armored soldiers. The D-Walker is amazing. Quiet teases on the heli (look past the iDroid screen).
I like how quiet just lies down out of boredom
Not that I really care too much about Quiet's outfit, but I hope there's some full fledged battle fatigues for her just because I want her to look operator as fuck.
Not that I really care too much about Quiet's outfit, but I hope there's some full fledged battle fatigues for her just because I want her to look operator as fuck.
there are outfits for her, confirmed. her bikini is "naked camo", much like snake's.

if i get the choice, every soldier on my base will be wearing masks. even dd. EVEN D-WALKER.
Oh my god, theres bullet drop? Older MGS games had bullet travel time already, but now this even has bullet drop? Holy shit Kojima, you really want to rek the gaming world don't you?
there are outfits for her, confirmed. her bikini is "naked camo", much like snake's.
Well yeah, but they didn't show which outfits. I think it's a pretty safe bet since I think she was wearing full clothing in one of the trailers. [editline]18th June 2015[/editline]
Oh my god, theres bullet drop? Almost lost it when I heard Man Eater play.
There a youtube link yet? I wanna make some popcorn and watch this shit on the couch on my PS3
Did the video show off a new map, or is it still Afghanistan and Africa? [editline]18th June 2015[/editline] Im at work so I cant watch it just yet.
There was bullet drop in GZ, though it didn't matter too much for anything other than the tranq gun because of the limited ranges.
Didn't make use of it, hence why I didn't know. It was most tranq gunning and stuff.
it's pretty clear that i'll be using DD as the main buddy. the ability to spot through walls will be great, and brings it a lot closer to the series origin (MGS1/2 at least) playstyle. i've posted this a while ago, but seeing this new gameplay really set it in stone for me, along with the trailer that came out. I'm excited that for the first time, I'm not going to play exclusively nonlethally. i'm not going to go full murder mode, but for the first time i'm going to feel comfortable killing in metal gear i think. in previous games it was made really clear that the purest form of the game was to do it nonlethally - and while rankings are (maybe? i haven't seen anything) still in MGSV and will likely have S ranks be reserved for nonlethal play, it's clear that the story pushes into the lethal realm. Big Boss is tortured by his inner demons, and it'd be a big disconnect if my playstyle didn't reflect that. i'll still primarily be a stealth operative and avoid conflict whenever possible, but enemies that don't live up to par to fulton back to base are probably going to get a bullet to the head instead of a tranq from now on. the gameplay will be a lot less restrictive for me in that sense.

At the beginning of the story mission snakes name comes up as "Punished 'Venom' Snake". I'm glad that they haven't completely dropped punished for venom, and I think Punished Snake is a fucking sick name. This game also looks as great as I'm expecting it to be. This is straight up looking like it could be the best MGS game yet.
As much as I sperg over the weapons I don't actually like playing lethal that much, and the fact that every enemy is a potential asset in this game (and Peace Walker) just compounds the issue. I'll still probably be almost exclusively ltl until my motherbase is built up sufficiently. Dog companions always seem appropriate for a loner sort of character like Big Boss, and he seems like the least intrusive of the bunch, so he'll definitely get plenty of deployment time. Really all the companions seem great, although I'm curious as to how playing with Quiet will actually pan out. Her abilities all seem very odd.
still annoyed they keep calling him snake though he's big boss ffs
Well from what I understand it's being treated in the way that Big Boss is his title and Snake is his name. So I guess his friend call him snake, but people who serve under him refer to him as Boss.
Well yeah, but they didn't show which outfits. I think it's a pretty safe bet since I think she was wearing full clothing in one of the trailers.
Was she? I don't remember her wearing anything else in any of the trailers.

Now almost nothing refers to him as Big Boss.
you could s rank in ground zeroes while still killing so yeah
i didn't know this! i knew that you could afford to kill one or two because of the point system but i never figured out what that threshold was
