Metal Gear Solid - VIIII - A Hideo Kojima Thread - PLAY THEM ALL IN RELEASE ORDER

That gameplay preview has everything. This game has everything. I bet this is exactly what people were dreaming of when playing any previous MGS title. The degree of movement, the choices, the underlying systems that let you play a mission quickly by airdropping anything you need need you, or savor it by using nothing but your base gear, or airdropping critical equipment in critical zones.
I don't know why it stood out and stuck with me so much, but, car music isn't car music. He got out of the car and the track kept playing. That's some revolutionary shit.
There are a couple annoying tidbits (stealth seems easy, with so many tagging abilities and D-Walker's ludicrous stealth mode) but they're obscured entirely by all the new stuff the game is pulling and the sheer amount of polish (I'm a HUGE FAN of how much of a piece of shit D-Walker seems like, physically. There's barely any driver armor, and it wobbles and rattles as soon as it picks up speed. And yet the upper part still looks japanese and hi-tech and it has an expressive head, because Huey is a big nerd. It looks like an experimental walker from the 80s.)

Because the music is playing through BB's on-person Walkman, instead of a radio/stereo like most games.
Shouldn't the thread be called Metal Gear? I know pretty much all the games are Metal Gear Solid but there is 3 Canon games that aren't solid.
Metal Gear 1, 2 and Rising.
just change the thread name to 'directed by hideo kojima'
just change the thread name to 'directed by hideo kojima'
If Silent Hills wasn't cancelled, I would have suggested a rename to "A Hideo Kojima Thread"
_EDIT_
Like in the thread name already, but at the front.
A Hideo Kojima Thread, Directed by Hideo Kojima
So the Mujahideen have been confirmed somewhere, will Big Boss need to get a Pashto translator?
holy shit, this game is literally gonna be Rambo 3
I'm so happy
it's not a Hideo Kojima thread until we're talking abount Snatchers and Boktai, though
I wonder how customized your personal army can get. I like the fact you can play as other characters. Wonder if you can expand and play in the Mother Base.

We can walk around our mother base. There isn't a whole lot to do though, other than protect it if another player invades.
Most likely they keep referring to him as Snake for the sake of marketing. People know who Snake is even if they haven't played Metal Gear before but very few people outside of the series fanbase knows who Big Boss is. Hell I've seen tons of gaming journalists referring to Big Boss as "Solid Snake" over the years.
i know that's why
that only makes me more annoyed

look man I know people have told you metal gear rising was canon but that's actually just a big prank platinum and kojima pulled
I love rising but it's not canon. It just fucks with MGS4's ending too much.
Was the rumor about MGSV side ops having credits like in GZ side ops disproven or not?
Was the rumor about MGSV side ops having credits like in GZ side ops disproven or not?
The sideops don't seem to, but the main missions have opening credits so I assume there are also closing credits.
I'm absolutely sure someone noticed it before, but in the bottom right of the gameplay video when he was at the iDroid screen, I noticed another stat alongside GMP and Time, "Heroism." It's probably morale, but if it's not, wonder what it's for?

He lost 15 heroism points when D Walker bit the dust. I'm guessing it's related to buddy affinity.
It probably means the same thing it did in Peace Walker. It's like your reputation. The higher it is, the more volunteers you get.
He got 5 points for blowing up the decoy, so, they're probably fairly easy to balance out. Does it mean D-Walker is a sentient being with a personality, though? Kaz seemed touched by the moment.

I really need to replay peace walker. I don't remember much of the systems in that game.

likely just a default response to letting any of your companions bite the dust.

I found that part hilarious, the way Kaz treats all the buddies as if they're alive.
*D-walker explodes*
"Don't let your buddy die, Snake! I'm pulling him outta there!"
I noticed in the gameplay when you lost or killed something, there was a +heroic, -Heroic rating, i wonder if it's dependent on his choices in game when his horn grows or not.

It contains The Boss' AI.
So for a break from your scheduled MGSV hype, I found some of the older original versions of the MGR:R soundtrack on youtube today, and good god the vocals sounded pretty awful. Specifically collective conciousness, though.

I just watched that 40 minute E3 gameplay. Damn, I can't wait. I love how everything can go to shit in a split second, and the sneaky gameplay suddenly turns into a crazy shootout.
DD is the cutest freaking thing ever
It's gonna be hard for me since the enemies adapt to your strategies. I played through every Metal Gear game killing pretty much every enemy with headshots :v:

I really hope the rating system from Ground Zeroes doesn't carry over to The Phantom Pain. It really bugs me if I don't get a perfect S rating on a mission.
I like how Big Boss can pet DD, but can he also pet Quiet?
He can pet her DD's

The original version of The Only Thing I Know For Real kicks ass, though.

I remember stumbling upon a bunch of songs from Rising with only the vocals
It was pretty weird, listening to them like that
