Well he's THE Big Boss for one.
Can someone help me with understanding this?
All those soldiers that you can recruit, why do they follow Big Boss?
I haven't really seen him being a charismatic leader in MGSV from previews
So why is everyone so obsessed with him?
I haven't played 3 or PW but from what I can understand, he's one of the best soldiers in the world. Also, it seems that he recruits via Fulton and the soldiers he fultons don't seem to have much of a choice of boss.
off topic, I found this and cannot stop laughing.
GZ's biggest flaw has been fixed
i'm still amazed that was even a thing in the first place
Now I like the idea that if an enemy yells CONTACT! any enemy within earshot becomes alerted and runs over instantly going on the offensive if they see what they think is you, which could be abused to get them to shoot at nothing while you do the shit in pants walk out the back door.
Granted the whole magical telepathy base was a little silly, the fact that the whole damn base knew exactly where you were because one soldier yelled "CONTACT!" is a little jarring. Even if he yelled it into his pocket microphone or some shit.

He's a badass, all the guys want to be him, and all the girls want to sleep with him.
Hasn't it been confirmed that [sp]Camp Omega is reappearing in TPP?[/sp] It's going to be interesting seeing if they keep the new alert mechanic in that level.
Unless it was beta footage or stuff made just for the trailer, the E3 2013 trailer showed scenes of prisoner torture occurring at Camp Omega that didn't happen in GZ

Because he took out the unit that ended WWII, prevented WWIII, killed that pinko traitor The Boss, stopped nuclear holocaust again, and destroyed like 500 APCs, tanks, and helicopters.
I'd work for him.

this is basically mgs

Basically, in MGS lore, Big Boss IS known around the world as the best soldier to ever live. This is because of how Zero portrayed him after the events of MGS3. So, that's how everyone knows about him. Zero's idolization of Big Boss was part of the reason for why Big Boss left Zero and is creating his own army now.
Another note: some soldiers you capture will not like you and could be problematic, but i believe the only punishment for capturing soldiers like that is they have to wait in the brig for a certain amount of time before they can be enlisted as staff in your base. At least that was in peace walker.

your interaction with soldiers before fulton-ing them having an effect on their respect for diamond dogs would be cool
I'd work for him since it means you can go on the balloon ride.
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/yes-metal-gear-solid-v-will-have-microtransactions-but-it-could-be-way-worse
these are the kind of microtransactions that i otherwise have no problem with
[editline]22nd June 2015[/editline]
it probably would have been done earlier if the tech was there tbh
it's not like a freemium game. there won't be some kind of pay to win mechanic. think of like, those packages you can buy for the battlefield games if you don't have time to rank up over and over
I just realized
In Phantom Pain, I'll be the boss of DD.
All my soldiers will have to listen to my favorite songs whether they like it or not. Hell, I could paint the whole base pink, and they won't be able to do anything about it.
Man, you really do feel like the villain in this game
Fuck yes, finally got S for the AA mission. Thanks for the help guys!

How do you do it? I've been stuck on a B rank for a long time.

not to mention occasionally your boss will have naked shower fights with a david bowie lookalike and you can watch for free
also, every day the boss will come home with more adorable pets for you to love

Tranq the soldier at the first AA, tranq the two soldiers to the right. (One is smoking right behind a corner of the nearby building. I then tranq'd the dude right infornt of the first AA (right of the tower) before tranqing the two soldiers inbetween the right of the tower and to the left of the nearby structure.
Finally, I moved to the left of the tower and tranq'd the guy behind the fence.
After that I moved the soldier next to the AA so he was out of the C4 distance, unlocked the fencegate to the evac point before putting one pack of C4 on the AA.
Jumped on the AA, took out both AAs before hopping off. Ran to the right of the fencegate and detonated the C4 before putting down the rest of the C4 on the road.
Sprinted through the door and hit the dirt on the hill, detonated the rest of the C4 as the APC rolled over it.
Went to evac point, called for Morpho and laid still untill he arrived. I entered the crouch stance and then I jumped in, completing the mission with an S.

pink is a fucking radical color and anyone who doesn't agree is not worth recruiting

That article is complete wankery, lol.
That statement by Konami doesn't at all alleviate my fears about this. All they say is that you can get everything in the game without paying more, and that it just makes it faster.
That, if anything, just seems to indicate they're going the route of making everything fucking ridiculously grindy.
And they're trying to play it off like it makes them the good guys, like they're letting you pay them to unlock things, to help out those poor souls who have busy days, and can't spend hours grinding shit like it was a bad MMO.
thank you Konami for the privilege of letting us pay you more for our games
well, at least there's a PC release incase those things do go south.
EA does this microtransaction model relatively well. doesn't piss anybody off (other than the crowd that hisses at the word microtransaction alone). now it's just to see if konami does any better or worse
i can't imagine it would be particularly bad considering the game has an AAA entry price to begin with

trust me, that's never stopped games from having ridiculously shit microtransactions before
this is also still a kojima productions game. konami don't have as much liberty with the game as you'd think
future metal gear games? sure. i could totally see konami fucking them up with micro-transactions just as they do in arcade

If the game turns out to be an MGS version of Candy Crush then PC users could always use trainers.

Konami has as much influence as they're willing to exert
considering how they even removed the Kojima Productions logo, they seem pretty willing to throw their influence around
not like it's going to harm long-term relations since Kojima is out after this game, anyway
Man I'm really getting into GZ now, I've S ranked like 3 missions on both Normal and Hard.
Do you need to S rank all missions on both difficulties to achieve 100%?
Do you need to S rank all missions on both difficulties to achieve 100%?
You need S rank on both difficulties, all the XOF patches, all the tapes, all the hostages, and all trials unlocked. Also you need to extract Glaz and Palitz once each.
