[sp]Personally, i'll stick with him being actually possessed. Like, even if it was all a ruse, why did he change arms?[/sp]
But if you watch this (5:45) it's clear that [sp]Big Boss is saying that even MGS2 "Liquid" was just part of Ocelot's act. Thanks to MGS4 Liquid didn't die off-screen in-universe, but he did to us the audience. Pretty cheap really.[/sp]
Maybe [sp]Ocelot intentionally let Liquid possess him. That, or it was unintentional at first, and then Ocelot used it to his advantage.[/sp]
[sp]Personally, i'll stick with him being actually possessed. Like, even if it was all a ruse, why did he change arms?[/sp]
[sp]Perhaps he intentionally allowed Liquid to possess him at first in order to fool The Patriots. Then later, with control over his body regained and The Patriots sufficiently fooled, he replaced the arm and underwent psycho therapy to keep the charade up while retaining some/complete control.[/sp]
[sp]Personally, i'll stick with him being actually possessed. Like, even if it was all a ruse, why did he change arms?[/sp]
Because of poor writing.
Game Grumps have started playing Metal Gear on Grumpcade with ProJared, I guess that saves me the trouble of playing it
wathcing someone play MGS is not the same thing as playing it Part of the fun is figuring out how to solve things and the tenseness of sneaking around I wouldn't reccomend watching any if you can play any of them
Even if you couldn't play it I'd recommend watching a playthrough with no or little commentary.
i've got a friend interested in mgsv but he doesn't have a ps3, we're considering me streaming the games to him through skype or google hangouts so he knows the story
i've got a friend interested in mgsv but he doesn't have a ps3, we're considering me streaming the games to him through skype or google hangouts so he knows the story
Have him come over and play the games?
Have him come over and play the games?
he lives halfway across the country
he lives halfway across the country
Road trip. That's what a real friend would do.
shiet i don't have money for a road trip
it's an emulation problem, use the 1hko hack and you'll pass it

Are you playing on an emulator? I ran into that issue and my solution was using a one hit kill hack just to get past it.
playing the US version instead of EU on the latest ppsspp build also works
I was at a con this year dressed up as Solid Snake and my friend was Naked Snake and this girl comes up to us and tells us that MGS is her favorite series ever but she's never played any of them, only watched playthroughs of it. It shouldn't matter how someone enjoys it, as long as they do. If it's ok that people can enjoy watching sports and not playing them, the same should apply to games.
[sp]Personally, i'll stick with him being actually possessed. Like, even if it was all a ruse, why did he change arms?[/sp]
Ultimately, it's probably because people reacted negatively to it so Kojima decided to retcon it. He seems like he is very reactive to fan reception to a fault. For example, he makes a big deal about Big Boss/Snake being the main protagonist in MGS3/4 because of how people reacted to Raiden. MGSV has fewer cutscenes/codecs/radio than expected (judging from the games media previews) because MGS4 was criticized for having too many cutscenes that were too long.
[sp]Personally, i'll stick with him being actually possessed. Like, even if it was all a ruse, why did he change arms?[/sp]
[sp]It created imbalance or some bullshit I forget[/sp]
The whole retcon was just Kojima going nuts over trying to make the supernatural stuff have a realistic cause... Which happened to be fucking pointless and led to way more plot holes than had they not address it at all.

If it's your favorite series in the world shouldn't you have played one?

From what I've read of the previews there's an absolute ton of tapes to listen to, which meshes better with the ability to roam around an open environment than constantly stopping to listen to codec/radio calls.

The actual codec is limited to information about your surroundings, while the traditional entertaining calls are split up into individual tapes to listen to at your leisure.
And is becoming even more pointless with all the supernatural shit in Phantom Pain.
Not to mention the supernatural shit that happens in MGS4 with [sp]Mantis[/sp]
Not to mention the supernatural shit that happens in MGS4 with [sp]Mantis[/sp]
Yeah, anyway.
[sp]Ocelot inherited his father's ghost genes that allowed him to be possessed. That's why he's voiced by Cam Clarke in MGS2 and not in MGS4.[/sp]
Keep in mind that in the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid 4 Liquid Ocelot is voiced by Banjō Ginga, the same guy who voiced Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 1.
I watched all the games sans MGS1 on Youtube, I love the story but I'm not buying three consoles to play four games.
Game Grumps have started playing Metal Gear on Grumpcade with ProJared, I guess that saves me the trouble of playing it
No. They're playing the NES version. That's non-canon and not entirely accurate to the MSX version.
How funny would it be if Big Boss had a microbomb too so whenever you died in TPP you would explode
And after that we should hear Kiefer scream SNAKE
wathcing someone play MGS is not the same thing as playing it
Really fun to watch your friends play it after doing it yourself though. My buddy just completed MGS1 and he said it's now one of his most favorite games ever. I really like that while I watched him play I kinda could find something new, like we laughed the shits out of Master saying something like 'To be a good sniper you must be a good sniper, if you're bad sniper you're bad sniper', or his cool advice to [sp]just die to Hind D, imagine how thrilling it was for me when he would find out that it was Liquid[/sp].
I watched all the games sans MGS1 on Youtube, I love the story but I'm not buying three consoles to play four games.
You only need a PS3.
You only need a PS3.
Pretty much, yep. Every Metal Gear game except Portable Ops can be played on PS3. Buy the MGS HD Collection which includes Metal Gear 1, Metal Gear 2, MGS2, MGS3, and Peace Walker. Buy MGS1 and and MGS4 separately, emulate Portable Ops on PC or your phone, and you're good to go. PS3 + the PC or Android you already have ain't bad at all. If you don't mind buying used, the games would be around ~$40 all together, and you can probably get a PS3 for fairly cheap if you don't already have one. [sp]Or just read the story of Portable Ops and skip it. Nothing TERRIBLY important to the overarching plot happens except the formation of FoxHound at the very end. It's only semi-canon anyway.[/sp]
