About P.T why didn't they just sell the "game" to another publisher?
So bummed that it's not gonna get made
They still see value in the Silent Hill series, but at a less costly investment than what Silent Hills was going to be.

Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro, and Hideo Kojima. As implausibly cool a concept as these three working together can be, the FOX Engine was already costly enough to make for MGS5, and an entirely separate game being made with what was likely a fuckhuge budget of its own probably doomed the game before we even really knew about it depending on how far back Konami's CEO started his feud with Kojima.

Can't let competitors get in front. If you hold the cards for a huge IP you don't let it go easily at all even if you've put it on the backburner.
EA and Sega have a large amount of IPs they could instantly dip into at any time. Granted you may never see another Streets of Rage or Road Rash game ever again but it's better for them to keep hold than let someone essentially take their money.
It would be nice to see Silent Hills revived as an official Del Toro-directed film.

fixed

Impossible without studio backing. Non-studio funding for something like that where previous films made fuck-all money is never going to happen.
Honestly the best thing to come from Kojima/Del Toro would be a game. Heck they could try restarting Del Toro's original horror game idea Insane.
I wonder if there will be any PT references in TPP. That would be cool if there was a Psycho Mantis hallucination where you walk through that hallway.

We'll get a balloon decoy of the monster from the PT demo.
I wonder if there are going to be any reused assets. Like how ZOE2 looked a lot like MGS2
I kinda miss that old style from the previous mgs and zoe. Everything had this kinda metallic sheen. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
Finally beat Ground Zeroes. First time I played through it, I couldn't find Paz at all :v:
Played through it again from the beginning after I knew where to go. Accidentally had to kill two guards, and I only alerted one during my final escape. Ended up with an A rank.

Absolutely, but that style just screams "PS2". I don't think it'd be so well received today.

But the style was in MGS4 and it looked like a natural evolution from the other games, with all the new shaders, bumpmaps and such.. It looked really nice imo. I'm not to crazy about the ultra realism, though it looks fantastic.

Yeah the ranking system in GZ feels so bizarre compared to other MGS. In GZ ranking is based solely on your score, whereas in the older games it was based on various things like alerts, kills, deaths & saves.
So unlike older games you can get spotted & kill a few guys & you'll still have a chance at getting an S rank
In the last two years or so I've got around to playing MGS1-4 (better late than never), and when playing GZ on PC I felt sympathy for Boss' loss but felt like I would have felt more had I played either Portable ops or Peace walker - should I play one or both? Are they a bit grindy and will they give me significantly more of an understanding behind big boss' character in MGS5?
Mother Base looks like the next evolution of MGS2's style, and I think it looks phenomenal.

You're right it does. Now that I think about about it, the metallic sheen was on everything because
Mgs 1-4 take place in mostly metal places while V takes place mostly on land. It'd also be weird to have
the metal look on the super real characters like before.
Since Silent Hills is cancelled does that mean Lisa from PT won't be in TPP as a decoy?

There has been no word yet if she's been removed or not.

Portable Ops isn't entirely canon now, just the overall events, so it's entirely skippable. Ground Zeroes is the direct sequel to Peace Walker and pretty much an extra epilogue to that game. So I'd say play PW. It can get a bit grindy but it's not as bad as people make out. When you're stuck you probably just have to find a mission with a high ranking R&D/Intel soldier and run through it several times whilst capturing them.

I think they'll keep her. The whole nightmare sequence from MGS3 was supposedly from another cancelled project

Though you CAN skip it, Portable Ops is fairly short, not very grindy at all, builds some of BB's character as he transitions from a soldier to a leader, and is absolutely worth playing imo.

Yeah, and the same sequence was taken out of the HD versions since it was cancelled.
Yeah, and the same sequence was taken out of the HD versions since it was cancelled.
So really, it still could be in, but if it ever gets rereleased (of course it fuckin will), it'll be taken out.

Yeah, but Guy Savage (the dream sequence) was secretly put in, and the project might have been in development when MGS3 was released.
Silent Hills had a lot of press coverage. PT was a widely publicized viral marketing campaign. It's cancellation was just as widely reported.
Chances are, Lisa is going to be taken out of TPP, but hopefully we'll get a decent replacement, like maybe one of the nurses from the series.
So wait, the nightmare sequence isn't in the HD version? [sp]That's where you're walking up the river with all the people you killed, right?[/sp] What replaced it? I only played the Subsistence version.
[editline].[/editline]
I just remembered the thing with Dracula, nevermind lol.

That's not the nightmare sequence, it's if you call Sigint and save when you're [sp]in the jail cell after Volgin tortues you[/sp] and load the save later
Yeah, and the same sequence was taken out of the HD versions since it was cancelled.
I thought Guy Savage was cut because it ran on a different engine that they'd have to work on porting for that little sequence, like with MGS2's skateboarding.
I had a fucked up dream today, so I see a big case (most likely a rifle would be there) and Big Boss is going to open it. But inside there was only a lollipop, after that the dream shifts into candy adv. (company logo reminded me of Cadbury) and that it partners with MGSV like Calorie Mate and you can make Snake take lollies while playing.

No one even really knows. None of the developers will even talk about it. Kojima didn't even know it existed (that, or he was fucking with us).
