Just started playing MGS1- even without my savestates that protected my MG1+2 runs, I'm having a lot of fun. Do the rankings count for the special [sp]torture[/sp] items after? Because I feel the need to restart constantly if I get caught.

I'm not going through for ranks, so if I mess up I don't wanna be too hard on myself. Once I'm done with this, I'll have to pick up MGS2. Is the pc port any good, or should I emulate it on a ps2 emulator?

A couple of hardware problems prevalent even during launch, requires tinkering to get it working on modern systems, and it's controlled ENTIRELY by keyboard unless you plug in a controller (if that's even supported). Also a few unfixable graphical errors that stem from bad porting, I think?

Also a few unfixable graphical errors that stem from bad porting, I think?[/QUOTE] While that's true, PS2 emulation is a fucking pain to set up, and you're going to get a great deal of slow downs, bad framerates, and graphical glitches no matter how great your PC is and what settings you use. I honestly don't know which is better to put up with. Tbh I'd just pick up a copy for whatever console you can play it on. MGS2 is available on PS2, Xbox, 360, PS3, and the Vita.

Saving just puts you at the beginning of the room it's not gonna save your coordinates in that room.

Not like I didn't get through it, but I was annoyed.
