How is D-Walker 'stealthy'? That fucking thing roaring machinery noise would be heard from kilometers away. Nitpicking, yes, but it's kinda ruining my suspension of disbelief.
I mean look, people have brought up BB' s shouting and fultoning near enemies and plenty of other things like it. Is it realistic? Not at all. But does it make for good gameplay? Yes.
I'll gladly give up a significant amount of realism for a game that's actually fun. We shouldn't go down the path that Splinter Cell did.
Got my hands on Peace Walker :v:
should I play Portable Ops first, or?...
Portable Ops is only semi-canon, only the main events count. Like I've said many times in this thread, it's worth playing, but unnecessary.
Not to mention we're playing as a super soldier badass whose, to count, [sp]fallen into a ravine off a bridge, lost an eye from gunshot burns, recovered from essentially drowning in a river (albeit with some supernatural aid), been tortured numerous times already, has suffered lord knows how many gunshot and burn wounds across his body although arguably Big Boss runs are probably canonical to a degree, and has now survived being near dead-center in a double chopper crash in the ocean.[/sp] And all he has to show for it is a non-functional eye, some memory loss from shit lodged in his skull, a lot of scars, and a missing left forearm that's now replaced with a prosthetic that can be replaced for all sorts of insane functionality. Literally all of his combat capability is still there, and arguably better than ever if not slightly more sluggish.
That's not even going into his achievements either. Suspension of disbelief is always a very, very tenuous thing with the Metal Gear franchise and that's not changing here.
Also surviving [sp]radioactive fallout from two separate nuclear bombs, pre-MGS3 then during MGS3.[/sp]

Obligatory.

Why doesn't Miller get a cool robot arm like Snake's got?
Why doesn't Miller get a cool robot arm like Snake's got?
Because he isn't as important as Big Boss, that's why.
Maybe we'll get mecha miller or he'll pull some emotional bullshit like the missing arm and leg being a reminder for all the comrades he never forgets what Cipher did to him

One thing that's been on my mind is does that prosthetic have hitboxes? Maybe when BB gets shot there he feels it as if it's a real bullet through phantom pain.

Did anyone else find it looked weird in the new gameplay trailer[sp]with big boss wearing the bandana again, it just sort of showed how much his character has changed to me. Like a person wearing their shirt from when they were 14 and realising it's not the same.[/sp]
Just started playing MGS2. Why does anyone even remotely tolerate Raiden? He's a fucking idiot.
The one thing that really bugged me in that video is when the narrator says "The Metal Gear Solid series is an action game series, as you all know. But, in The Phantom Pain, it is possible to clear missions by employing strategies to completely avoid confrontation altogether, if you prefer." Stealth isn't new, is he having a laugh?
Also they should have recorded more than one "hyah!" for when Snake spurs the horse.
I like how at the end of peace walker boss throws the bandanna away as this big symbolic gesture
and yet Kojima couldn't resist giving us the ability to wear it :v
I like that all of peace walkers ending has been retc inner away
i hope big boss' spurring the horse on with "hya!" isn't as bad as it seemed in the video, as well as quiet's humming, and i'm also a bit nervous about the idroid's voice notifications becoming annoying.

The iDroid is going to be annoying on the PS4 when you forget to turn down the speaker volume. Getting a wraith kill in Shadow of Mordor on PS4 was horrible with the very loud screeching

You're in for a wild ride
I hope the bandana isn't mandatory when wearing the sneaking suit.
Bandana/Shemagh are accessory choices.
Shamelessly stole from the flash movies and crap

One thing I really hope to see in MGSV is for this song or some rendition of it to play at the end:

It would be nice to see the series to come full circle

oh man I want the Theme of Tara available as a cassette in MGSV
The Theme of Tara is legitimate 80's music :v:

Absolutely yes. I was surprised how out of place it looked.
But then again, the [sp]bandana does look a little different. It's wider along the forehead and doesn't crease around his brow bones like usual.[/sp]
I'm thinking that faceless character Snake is shaking hands with is our MGO character

Theme of Tara was in PW so likely to return.
I don't think the Bandana has much significance if it's an optional accessory.
Waiting for the faceless man doujins
I hope we can research upgrades for the bandana. And they're the most expensive upgrades in the game. And all they do is make the bandana longer.

I think considering the other one is floating in a bay somewhere, we can safely assume it isn't [sp]The Boss's[/sp] and therefore doesn't carry the same significance.
I'm thinking that faceless character Snake is shaking hands with is our MGO character
That...actually makes a lot of sense. Combining this with the theory Ishmael is them, having them help BB get out of that hospital definitely would be partnership worthy.

I would really love it on real instruments, though- the original being there is great, but it isn't enough in my eyes.
Also, let's bring this song back

I'm still not seeing this picture you guys are talking about
Am i blind?
[sp]The old Bandana was green and tattered at the ends. The new one is blue and isnt damaged in any way. It looks like Solid Snakes.[/sp]

Which I shameless stole from a Facebook page
(which was probably stolen from somewhere else)

[sp]You know, it'd be a really great plot twist if the bandana is given to Snake by Big Boss himself during the ending cutscene, as a sign that . Of course, this is ruined by the fact that snake "kills" big boss in MG1 without knowing he was his father, but it would have been cool (I'm presuming here that snake was told by BB that he was his father on Zanzibar and not on Outer Heaven). I have a feeling something along those lines will happen in V, though; some sort of "passing of the torch" that happens between the two without Snake knowing the truth.[/sp]
On a semirelated note to the above spoilers, we never did find out when Snake learned BB was his father. My guess is that it happened on Zanzibar, right before the two fought, something that wasn't brought up until MGS1 because a. kojima retconned it and b. having it in the game regardless would have seemed really cheap for storytelling.

Well, in Raiden's defense...
He was pretty much [sp]set up to be the main test dummy of the whole farse that is his mission.[/sp]
offtopic
Can't wait for september... hopefully enough dough for a new PC after 2 months of straight work, to spaz uncontrolably at TPP at high settings, and thats without mentioning all the other games I have...
Gonna be a good birthday.

Solid Snake wearing Big Boss' bandana would be weird seeing as he thought the guy was a monster, but who knows? As for the latter point I think it was when Snake was new to FOXHOUND, largely due to this.
