I'm really interested in which characters we'll be able to play besides BB. Is there any info on that yet? I hope there'll be unique ones, not just clone troopers like in PW.
I'm thinking it'll be generic DD soldier bodies but with a bunch of unique faces, if I'm interpreting the gameplay demo right.
After thinking about it, I have another idea of where the bandana came from- [sp]Frank Jaeger. He appeared in Portable Ops for a short time before being sent away by BB, but I'm pretty certain he'll show up again in V. We could see him train under BB, be given the title of Grey Fox, and eventually receive the bandana. In the ending cutscene we'd probably see Fox befriend a young Snake and give him the headband, and considering the fact the two never stopped being friends I don't think Snake would let it go either.[/sp]

Not yet, but I'm sure with the Fox Engine the faces can be randomly generated from a set of features.

I wouldn't count on anything besides your regular DD guys in the Single Player. Unique faces still seem like a possibility though.
Technically the ability to play as Ocelot is confirmed extant, but only in MGO (same as in previous MGOs). For story reasons playing as him or other characters like that directly in single player is probably out of the question.
Still, playing as DD soldiers is great as it is. I was certain that feature wouldn't carry over from Peace Walker for the longest time. I'm sure Female S-Rank combat personnel are going to be fucking unicorns again since you could only get them from the recruitment function in Peace Walker (due to their lack of presence in the enemy forces). There will probably be a similar feature in TPP since one can't really expect female infantry in the Soviet or other hostile militaries and the PoWs generally aren't combat-capable.
We also can't forget the caution theme of MGS3, really adds to sneaking around everywhere.
Might be my nostalgia speaking, but there's no beating this for me:

Now I want to play MGS1 again
This one is my personal favourite

Imagine being a Metal Gear fan whose face got used for a DD soldier and you could play as yourself.
so why does Liquid Ocelot have a private army entirely of women
besides the obvious
Heard people say it was for a psychological effect because soldiers would hesitate more when having to shoot female soldiers, especially when they scream in agony and burn to ashes when they die.

I would be that C ranked guy you don't even bother fultoning by 10 hours into the game and probably throw off the roof of a building for kicks.
I'm tempted to just watch a 2 hour 'movie' compilation of Portable ops' story and then maybe a full summary before playing Peace walker, people are saying the gameplay of PO isn't that great
I recently played through PO & I thought it was pretty good. The gameplay just feels like a simplified version of snake eater, although the camera can be a pain to use because of the layout of the PSP but PW suffers from the same problem .
The story doesn't really feel like a proper MGS game just because it's a lot smaller compared to other MGS plots & as a result feels somewhat disconnected from the rest of the series but despite all of that I think it does pretty well as a non-Kojima mgs game

It'd actually be pretty cool if we could get a character generator and make our own.

That's kind of a bullshit reason when SOP suppresses your emotions on the battlefield. I guess they're mostly seen fighting guerrilla movements though.
Come on, it's mostly an excuse for acrobatic skin tight uniform lady technoassassins with belgian assault waffles.
so why does Liquid Ocelot have a private army entirely of women

Sniper Wolf said something about how women naturally make better assassins or something like that
It probably had to do with that
It might have been something like that, and I like to think there might be a deeper meaning to them all being women, because while Kojima does a lot of silly or perverted things, he isn't completely banal. But honestly they really just seem to be fetish fuel and nothing more.

[sp]Fox's bandana was actually red. You can see that in Metal Gear 2, where both he and Snake have bandanas.
You can retcon Metal Gear 1, but 2 is kind of hard since it had an actual plot.

Kojima actually mocapped the B&B models nude.
He wanted to make their in-game models nude, but then he realized that he would have gotten an AO rating.

In all fairness, you could play as Ocelot in PO. But it was more of an easter egg than anything, and of course PO wasn't made by Kojima.

I went ahead and watched PO the 'movie' haha. The story was good, it's satisfying to be able to piece a few more things together, even if it is retcon-vulnerable canon. There were a few gameplay clips and it did look a little clunky
I'll make sure to play PW so that I can absorb the story a little more gradually and then go on to trawl the wikis and watch lore videos on the series as a final recap before TPP. I'll have played all the important games then, it's just that I did so recently in a binge fashion and didn't play them when I was younger like some, so I have to remind myself of the overarching story

Well, you can play as like anyone in PO. Kind of a cool thing that was lost in PW, where you could only use enemy models in multiplayer.

[sp]What if he gave him that specific gray bandana, before picking up a red one later on? It'd make sense for a "gray" fox to have a gray bandana, so it'd be both a retcon and an explanation I suppose.[/sp]
[sp]But Gray Foxes have a bit of orange fur so a red bandana makes sense.[/sp]
Why's this getting spoiler tagged anyway ?
All this shit from the MSX games is getting spoiler tagged but when this game goes gold I'm not going to trust a damn soul on the internet to keep shit quiet.
Going to quit the internet until September at that point.
So I decided what to do before the 15th (and possibly get a PS3)- play through The Twin Snakes with both ending items. It'll give me the feeling of beating the game again and let me see what exactly Twin Snakes changed.

Well, they do serve a point.
But as you said, the fact that they are a pure fetish dream kind of overshadows the way they could be seen as a good idea against at the very least male enemies.

Might as well not go on for all of September cuz it might take a while to beat the game.

I'm going to be too busy playing the game to worry about being spoiled on the internet i'm not browsing.

Twin Snakes is a lot funnier when you realize the whole thing is basically shown from Otacon's perspective as he tells the story while piss drunk in a bar somewhere.
Wait, you're telling me Otacon knew about the post-credits call and neglected to tell Snake? What a dick.
He made it up to sound cool and mysterious.
Never trust a man who says his buddy can somersault over rocket missiles.
I'm going to be too busy with classwork to have much time to play it. Yeah I've been waiting years to play MGSV, but I've been waiting a lot longer to graduate

I have a feeling it's Raiden's perspective (during his Solid Snake VR training), because 1. Why would you say you pissed yourself, and 2. there's a lot of backflips here already so it would tell Raiden "Hey these are cool! You should do them!" so he would. Overall, it's pretty fun, though a lot easier thanks to the first person perspective [sp]and Dolphin savestates[/sp]. My only nitpick so far is that I haaate Deepthroat's new voice [sp]since it ruins the last boss surprise (which would be obvious playing MG2 but still).[/sp]
Otacon says he pissed himself because he's drunk as fuck and doesn't really pay attention to what he's saying.
