I hope whatever it is, somebody will be willing to give him the millions of dollars he'll need to make it happen
I hope whatever it is, somebody will be willing to give him the millions of dollars he'll need to make it happen
Considering how people lined up for Mighty No. 9 and that Castlevania spiritual successor, you bet Kojima's gonna get the money.
Third Child could mean that solidus wasn't the third one - but instead the fourth
Considering how people lined up for Mighty No. 9 and that Castlevania spiritual successor, you bet Kojima's gonna get the money.
Don't forget Yooka Laylee.
mantis being "third child" doesn't mean he's Solidus it means he's going to pilot eva unit 01 you guys are dummies
Psycho Mantis to steal Metal Gear instead of Liquid, confirmed!
Makes me a bit nervous. Games nowadays need support after release, even SP ones. I hope that won't mean if TPP have issues on PC there won't be anyone to fix them. Then there's MGO.
KJP LA probably won't disband, it got it's name changed to Konami LA studio. So there will be at least som e support for MGO. [editline]11th July 2015[/editline]
Considering how people lined up for Mighty No. 9 and that Castlevania spiritual successor, you bet Kojima's gonna get the money.
none of those games got enough money to do a huge game like MGS
Okay, MGS2 is starting to annoy me. Going through the Shell 1 Core without support from a node nearly got me killed because oh hey enemy patrolling right outside the entry door that's likely to see you as you sneak under a camera. It's really starting to feel like these patrols, the Cyphers and the node system are all designed to be as much of a pain in the ass as possible.
none of those games got enough money to do a huge game like MGS
I dunno, MN9 got 4 million dollars.
I dunno, MN9 got 4 million dollars.
that's not really a whole lot when you're talking about AAA titles
If Kojima even made Metal Gear-like games anymore, and i'd honestly rather he do his own thing outside of Metal Gear now after wanting to do so for the past three decades, it'd probably be better off starting lower-budget, akin to Metal Gear 1/2 with maybe fancier graphics and music, than going all-out Metal Gear Solid big budget blockbuster style again. Going back to basics can often be real refreshing and really shine a new light on things for some people.
that's not really a whole lot when you're talking about AAA titles
Who said it has to be high budget? The Fox engine is fucking great and all, but MGS1 is just as much an MGS title as Phantom Pain is. The gameplay just has to be fun/satisfying, it doesn't have to be spectacular. It's all about the story. That said if Kojima doesn't retire, I hope he goes and makes brand new stuff instead of trying to reboot a series that's pretty much finished. Has anyone here played his non-MGS stuff?
Well he's teased and referenced Snatcher and Policenauts since the 90's, i'm sure he wouldn't mind messing with stuff akin to those again.
Well he's teased and referenced Snatcher and Policenauts since the 90's, i'm sure he wouldn't mind messing with stuff akin to those again.
Pretty certain Konami wholly owns both of those. Unless you're talking about a spiritual successor, then sure maybe. But what I'm saying is he should do something completely original. I think it's safe to say he's up there with the most famous game designers ever; anything with the name Hideo Kojima on it is going to be hype nowadays, unlike Policenauts, Snatcher, and perhaps Zone of the Enders when Hideo Kojima wasn't really a household name yet.

At this point im certain Konami is living on borrowed time. They just said fuck you to their entire western audience, disbanded their biggest moneymaking dev team on their video game front, cancelled an almost guaranteed success, and now all they have left is mobile games nobody buys and pachinko machines. Dont put all your eggs in one basket.
mantis being "third child" doesn't mean he's Solidus it means he's going to pilot eva unit 01 you guys are dummies
"get in the damn memory cards Mantis"
Really hoping Jimmy Boy and the Funky Bunch didn't pull a MGS4 and have a shitton of past characters recurring in TPP for basically no reason other than fanservice.
Yeah having the whole MGS1 FOXHOUND gang shoehorned in there as kids would just be pointless, seeing kid Liquid stumble around in proto-REX is stupid and fanservicey enough as it is.
i hope if you get shot on your prosthetic arm you dont take damage or something, that'd be a neat touch
i hope if you get shot on your prosthetic arm you dont take damage or something, that'd be a neat touch
It still hurts Snake just as much, because of... the phantom pain.
Really hoping Jimmy Boy and the Funky Bunch didn't pull a MGS4 and have a shitton of past characters recurring in TPP for basically no reason other than fanservice.
To be fair, there are a few that, canonically, should be in- [sp]Sniper Wolf talks about being raised by BB (and considering she's in her 20's by the time of MGS1, should be about 6-7), and Naomi mentions how she met Boss in the 80's thanks to Frank, delivering her to america before "returning to Africa," and we already know Mantis and Liquid are in. Hell, we might just meet the /original/ Naomi Hunter, before she "goes missing" in the middle east.[/sp] I do hope they don't force more than they should, but overall there's gonna be a few that really should be in.
Really hoping Jimmy Boy and the Funky Bunch didn't pull a MGS4 and have a shitton of past characters recurring in TPP for basically no reason other than fanservice.
its the last metal gear game by kojima, and he loves fanservice Huey in Peace walker was just a glorified way to have otacon hanging around
its the last metal gear game by kojima, and he loves fanservice Huey in Peace walker was just a glorified way to have otacon hanging around
I'm actually worried that Kojima will write in Otacon as a clone son given to Huey by Cipher. After all, they're a closer match than Big Boss and Solidus.
its the last metal gear game by kojima, and he loves fanservice Huey in Peace walker was just a glorified way to have otacon hanging around
It's always funny to randomly remember that Otacon made his own father a cuckold while playing PW. :v:
Jim Piddock said Konami’s justification for the low offer is that his character (Zero) won’t be seen as much in the game, but mostly heard (probably trough cassette tapes, given The Phantom Pain’s method of storytelling). When Yong asked if we won’t see Zero at all, Piddock once again said we won’t see the character ‘that much’.
http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=20712
