GZ also ran at like 300x200 on ps3.
I once had to run UT2K4 at 150x150 because it crashed(this was before I knew my way around computers)
It was like some very amazing pixel art
I said I would leave the thread before spoilers happened, but I just wanted to share this story about my girlfriend playing GZ (to see if she likes the series, which she does).
"I know why the series is called Metal Gear! It's because he feels he's just one weapon of several, like a gear. Metal, gear!" "...actually it's because of the giant robots named metal gears." "...I liked mine better."
Also, on that reddit leak that looks to be proven fake- I do think that [sp]9 years is a metaphor for 9 months of birth, but unlike that fake theory it's Big Boss himself being "reborn" as this evil demon of the later series. That's the kind of thing I would expect from a Kojima game.[/sp]
well it looks like a neat figurine anyway I suppose :x
figma is usually good shit, don't have the Snake in hand yet but I've heard mixed things about. I'll let y'all know being the resident /toy/ loser

Some Phantom Pain figurine coming in. Can't tell if that's XOF or just a normal Russian dude.
Oh god that anime in the reflection.

You think you're the only /toy/ soldier around here?
I have the MGS2 Snake and I think he's great, personally. Lots of soft plastic on him so he can bend his joints a bit more than most figma. He's also more detailed than most figma, given he comes from a more realistic style. He also has a bunch of extremely small bits for detail. He comes with tiny little cigarettes that you can stick between his fingers to hold and also a tool to move his eyes around since his face part contains actual eyeballs. I love him.
If I have the cash when Gurlukovich soldier comes around, I'd like to get multiples of it. Would make for some great scenes.
So I was thinking of getting it both on PS3 and PC. Is that a waste, or will I be happy?
I mean I played GZ on PS3 and it was alright. I'd say it's up to you personally and how soon you want to be playing it & if you care about the increased possibility of the game being spoiled for you.
PC version will obviously blow the PS3 version out of the water, but you are having to wait that bit longer.
I'm in the same situation as you right now but I chose option C which is to buy a PS4 and MGSV :v:
Ehhhh maybe I just have low standards but the difference between PS3 GZ and PC GZ to me was so minimal. I've actually put more playtime in to the PS3 version thus far. Yeah, the FPS is smoother, and the graphics are better on PC, but it still plays basically the same. The graphics is the biggest enjoyment for me, it is very pretty. And I can play with a controller too, so the only off putting thing is the stupid mouse cursor sticking around.
I honestly agree. The last-gen versions of GZ weren't bad at all. They looked great for last-gen games, and the gameplay was almost identical to the newer versions. I can still go back to the 360 version without really feeling too much of a downgrade. I mean yeah, it's obviously downgraded, but it still looks good to the point where it doesn't bother me.
I just finished replaying MGS2. Man Raiden had it rough back in the day, used and lied to by pretty much everyone, and then the fans hated him too. All he wanted was to do his mission.
Well, on to MGS3.

My girlfriend's a huge Raiden fan and I love poking her with Raiden comments I find online for reactions. I just sent her yours and:
1:54 SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS
1:55 I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
1:56 I should carry a picture of him in my wallet since he is my flesh and blood son
I wonder if this makes me Raiden's father.
My girlfriends favorite character is Raiden as well. (Besides Master Miller.)
I don't get It. Snake is the perfect man?!

Kojima eas on to something with raiden

Even though REX is the coolest mech I wish they didn't revisit that design so much, none of these imitations will live up to the original.
16:11 WHOSE FAVORITE CHARACTER WOULD BE KAZ
16:11 COME ON
My favorite character is Armstrong.
All other opinions are lesser.
Ocelot best
anyone else is small time
But ocelot is masquerading as literally everyone else so it doesn't count
Ocelots playing second fiddle to Kaz in MGSV anyway.
There is no Ocelot, only Troy Baker now.
There is no Ocelot, only Troy Baker now.
It's just Troy Baker possessing Ocelot.
I don't actually mind Kiefer Sutherland's Snake at all, but Troy Baker's Ocelot is very... eeeehhh to me. I feel like it'll grow on me.
The Songwriter of MGS 1,2,3 Rika Muranka gives more insight into konami vs kojima
Daley: "The main reason for the falling out, at least in her opinion, is that Kojima gets paid a salary, and doesn't make any profit share on the game. He gets paid a certain amount no matter what, and he was spending so much money and delaying the project, and adding all these features and making sure the game was the biggest and best thing it could be, and Konami was unhappy with that because [delaying] has no effect on him. He was spending the budget on this and that and upgrading the Fox Engine and then delaying further because the engine wasn't ready, and Konami wasn't happy with that because he gets his salary and he takes a more traditional "Japanese man" approach by not taking a profit share. So in doing that, he gets a little more than a game creator would but doesn't take bonuses from the game selling well."
Yong: "So you're telling me that Kojima wanting to make the game the best it can be is what started the conflict?"
Daley: Yes. In her eyes, Kojima's a fantastic creator, and probably the best creator of his time, but he doesn't have a strong business sense like Konami would like him to have. Where instead of, for example, cutting corners by lowering foliage resolution, he wants to make sure everything looks as good and polished as possible. She said they paid for her to write 30-40 songs that ended up not being used, and he'd tell her to write another one, then another one, then another one, because he settles for what he likes and has a good mind for what people want to see and what people want to hear. (Amen on that, yo: Avirdi's personal addition).
Daley: "She's worked directly with Kojima for the music before so she does have some insight, and personally believes that the music has suffered in MGSV because she's not a part of it, because they couldn't afford her. So instead of paying her to go to all these people and recruit them for the music, they chose to remove her from the equation and go to the people directly."
MGSV will probably be the game that never happens again in the entire industry, ever.
I figured their annoyances towards him were budget-related, given all the clothing lines, all the delays, the fact that they wanted MGS5 out in 2014 so Kojima released Ground Zeroes.. But I didn't figure it'd be basically because they're pissed at his refusal to cut down on the game itself and he still gets his salary.
Just finished MGS3. What an amazing game. Initially, I didn't like how it played up until the fight with [sp]The End[/sp] but after that fight, I adjusted to it. Now, onto watching the PO movie and then MGS4.

[sp]I love how you can just kill The End right away when he's in his wheelchair.[/sp]
WHO LOVES KAZ
Dude, she fucking loves Kaz. Before she stated playing MGS she had only seen fan art on /v/ so she assumed Kaz was snakes wacky boyfriend
She got so excited when we started MGS1 and Master Miller was talking, she was genuinely hurt to find out he was killed by Liquid
[sp]I love how you can just kill The End right away when he's in his wheelchair.[/sp]
I'm wondering if I should do that the next time I play it. I heard that the Ocelot unit fight that replaces his boss fight is great

I know people like to think of good guy Kojima vs big bad Konami but let's be fair - Konami had valid concerns. Kojima bloated their budget and went overboard by doing stuff like having Rika Muranaka write 30 - 40 songs with money that wasn't his, to the point that they couldn't even afford her and the music has suffered (her words). Who knows where else he went overboard? Although he only wanted the best for the game it's understandable that Konami wouldn't be happy with him, neither are entirely in the right or wrong from what we know.

Might want to spoiler the last part of your post. Also, your girlfriend might love this mod for GZ.

From a gamer's perspective I'm mad at Konami (I think they could tank the hit, from what I know of them, and make it back up from sales), but from a business standpoint I totally understand why they would try to curb his spending or, if it got really bad, to fire him altogether. Like the metal gear series in general, there really isn't good guys or bad guys.
