Honestly, does Ubisoft have anything good they can show this year?
Ass Creed Syndicate.
I'm kinda hoping it works out simply because it's set in Victorian England and that's that.
There were plenty of ridiculous over the top levels, they just didn't look like vomit.
Well I guess it just comes down to if you care less for the original series, and that you care less about the changes made in the new one. If you think the original level design looked like vomit then you must not like the series very well as the 4 games that came out followed a trend in how the levels were set out.
Obviously there were other ssx games like 'on tour' were criticized for their bad complicated level design, while the original ssx games stood their own with the unique memorable areas that stages were set in.
I can recall one area in the new one that was 'over the top' and that was one of the wingsuit levels. And even that was a mess due to the amount of drops, and more-so how frustrating the rewind system made the game.
There is a reason that the dlc in the new game that payed so much homage to ssx tricky was created, it's because people were wanting more of the old, and less of the new. I guarantee if the dlc didn't include anything relating to the previous games then it wouldn't have been praised as much as it was.
whatever lets just agree to disagree

I got Star Fox Afghanistan. Good to see Nintendo's finally catching on to modern gaming.
Also; the Legend of Zelda: Black Charles.

This is not a realistic simulation of what a mountain you snowboard on looks like. The levels are just as completely balls to the wall insane, just without the early 2000's aesthetic that Tricky had. I fucking love Tricky, but SSX 2012 is an evolution on the same game and is just as good.
and SSX 1/Tricky/3 aren't good because of the tracks, they're good because the controls are incredibly tight and responsive. It was probably the first game I ever played where the control were like an extension of your fingers, it worked so well. SSX 2012 was pretty much that, with more ridiculous tricks (from a gameplay point of view), way quicker gameplay and some stylish graphics and effect.
I honestly have no idea how someone can say it's "just" a modern snowboarding game, I don't think anything about the design of it had any intention of being anything other than a modern version of tricky
There were plenty of ridiculous over the top levels, they just didn't look like vomit.
It seems you guys just want a HD remake of SSX3/Tricky.
I want EVERYTHING from the first to the last.
Is it hard to ask that?
I love the peaks, but give me tracks like Mercury City, races where you can bitch slap people, more characters\returning and a radical voice where it comments your tricks, your current position, repeating the same stuff and fails.
And what not. A full HD remake wouldn't even be bad.

The gameplay and level design is just way too different for me to like it more that the originals, I'm sorry. I still stand by that the stages in the new ssx aren't as good as the old games. The new ones are not 'realistic', sure, but they look much more tamer than the older ssx games.
Also, I have to disagree about the statement that ssx 1 to tricky aren't good because of the tracks. If the tracks were just Garibaldi and untracked variations I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did. Each of the stages are so unique in how they handle the terain for each area. Garibaldi is a straight down-straight up jumps with wide tracks for beginners, Elysium alps uses the hillsides as terrain for melted snow, Tokyo megaplex is a complex set up of air-pads and areal platforms. The stages are fantastic.

The stages in the old games were boring, unfortunately it's easy to remember Tokyo Megaplex and Merqury City Meltdown, but 2/3rds of the stages in Tricky were trying to be "realistic", being based on mountain designs and having nothing good to look at (or play). The gameplay was also clunky as heck, I remember plenty of times getting caught on Merquery City Meltdown because of poor collision in the game and sometimes movement controls. None of these are problems in SSX12, the gameplay is fluid and literally always fun to play. If anything I would go as far to say SSX12 is what SSX Tricky wish it could've been if it didn't have such strict hardware limitations, as the design just echos and reverberates through the track design and tricks.
So, we will be seeing the new Hitman game this E3 right? Please?
I still play the 2012 ssx from time to time. It's just a well made game. I think it's worthy of the ssx title. You fucking outrun avalanches in the game. If that isn't wacky enough for you then idk what is.

ssx12 feels way too floaty for me. There's no challange in falling over anymore. As for poor collision, it's hard to comment on due to it being quite an old game, and what with this being a physics-based game, it would inevitably have problems in a setting such as city skyscrapers on slopes. Only time I had problems with collision is when I failed a jump by not being fast enough. Where you'd just reset regardless.
Also, there is probably no point arguing over which game stages are more memorable than each other, due to the fact that we both have spent different amounts of time on both games. I can remember every level in tricky but about 2 in ssx12. so it was a mistake for me to bring that up as a defense.
Did you only play the easy levels on SSX 2012? The game gets pretty difficult in higher level areas.

That's because the challenge is different in SSX12. In tricky it's about racing and scoring high scores while avoiding messing up, in SSX12 it's also about racing but scoring high scores in one long continuous string down the mountain side. They're two different games, but both with the same ambition of just being mad fun and great to play, and they both achieve this.
I've spent a shit ton of time in every SSX game, even Blur. I love the series and still play the games often, but you can't look at the original 3 through rose tinted glasses anymore. The fact of the matter is the games are incredibly flawed, but still incredibly fun. SSX12 takes out the gameplay flaws, ramps up the craziness in level design and tricks and makes it way more accessible for people to play. It's literally the perfect SSX game.
Also SSX12 has way more levels than Tricky. Tricky only had like 8 and they were pretty short.

Played through the whole game once, then tried for some gold medal challenges before I got bored.
Most of the difficulty with that game for me comes with the patience of rewinding to a part just before you fall off a cliff, just to have your guy not respond to your movements and see you fail again.
I hope that they announce a new video game on E3

You just contradicted yourself. You said there is no challenge in falling but here you complained about falling??? Anyway let's get back on topic. I would love to see a new ssx announced at this e3.

iirc there are 65 tracks and 150+ drops not counting the dlc

Maybe I just don't enjoy the type of game ssx12 is then. Could be that I just dislike the whole 'one continuous string' side of the game. I won't deny that it handles much better than the older games. SSX tricky has some real bullshit moments itself (i'm looking at you minecart rail), I just find the older games more memorable in how they approached different factors like character and level design.
I can see why people like SSX12, just given the choice between tricky and ssx12, I'd choose Tricky because I feel like I'd have more fun. I usually end ssx12 out of frustration rather than contempt that I bet a level.

Nah, by falling I mean failing a trick and landing on your ass. In this context I meant having the terrain fall away in front of you and fall into an endless abyss.
That's another thing. The terrain in ssx12 is the most likely thing that will make you fail, rather than the older games where falling over would usually be the cause of you misjudging your own ability to land. But yeah lets not get too off topic unless another ssx is actually announced.
arctic thunder 2 when
I don't get the whole sense of realistic talk in a SSX game, i didn't sense any realistic feel in 2012 version, only the characters just felt forced to fit in these atmosphere.
Sadly survival mode is not made for Multiplayer unless it pits you in a race like in Campaign to reach the finish line. It's because some people will just manage to survive for hours, making it tedious, boring and unsatisfying.
Time attack are great but the lack of interactivity it's... well not great for me.
I'm glad that SSX was the first game that made me want to 100% it but 2 weeks and worn me out, not even Mt. Fuji or Eddie's track really encouraged me to play further.
Gameplay wise felt uber great, there are high risk and high reward in trick mode, there's that sense of going full speed and there are multiple paths but alas unless you're changing continent, most of the tracks just feel the same but with additional gimmick that isn't impressive.
But hey, i loved the dense fog battle between TyxGriff (while for first timer, it felt going for a crapshoot) and ice levels including Moby's final race.
But anyway, hope for another ssx game if it'll ever be announced. Moving on.

Thanks Christ. For a moment there I thought it was just gonna be called Mirror's Edge, since EA's been feeling the need to call everything a reboot.

I'm kinda interested in some news regarding Firewatch. Maybe a release date or something. Looked pretty cool back when it was announced in 2014.

Firewatch could either be really refreshing and great or really pretentious and shit.
