I know one reason of hate is because he's a huge hypocrite. Often he criticizes games for explaining things to you, but then as soon as the game tries to attempt to teach through gameplay he starts to complain about it.
What really sealed it for me was a recent episode of grumpcade where he admitted to turning off the console whenever "his team sucks" while playing Splatoon.

People don't like Arin because he complains when games either hold your hand or don't hold your hand, and then proceed to complain about game design when in reality he is just bad at it. If I recall correctly he was talking a lot of shit on Wind Waker when it was entirely his fault and him playing badly. He gives off the impression that he's just ignorant about his inability to play games properly.
Also a lot of people have bad taste in their mouth on the subject of Egoraptor because he's not Egoraptor anymore. He much rather sit around and play video games all day then actually work on the one thing that made him famous to begin with, animation.
