Thing is, those lights weren't always there; and I don't think hives can shine light through solid ground, since they're not on the surface

They're just lighting glitches, and thaumcraft made it possible quite a while ago to see nodes, but you can't see what aspects they are.
New world, hot off the presses, great place. You wont find an island though, no oceans, but you might find a big mountain to rebuild your drug empire in.
i didn't even have a chance to detonate narcotisland :(
We blew it up in our hearts, friend
i blew it up with the sacred tree :)
So, interestingly enough, Technic Launcher only lets me up to 1GB memory instead of the 2-3GB shown in the OP. Also, it keeps crashing; I got to the Mojang splash screen once, but then it crashed anyway. :suicide:

Try installing 64-bit java?
In other news, does anybody have any mega-rubber tree saplings?

This again.
This again.
Seems to be having trouble starting up again after it goes down. Or it's just slow.
Back up.
Server's down.
fukn chromaticraft
i finally got enough experience for liquid chroma
and now i just have to sit here for hours until this shit finally gets boosted
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fDxvN91.png[/t]
it's only supposed to take 30 seconds but it never actually works
and figuring out that the chroma collector didn't need boosted shards to create it even though the recipe clearly states that it needs boosted shards was dumb
and then figuring out that it doesn't accept mob essence
and then figuring out that you need to pump it in with buildcraft fluid pipes, enderio fluid conduits don't work
and then figuring out that you can only retrieve it after pumping it out again with buildcraft pipes into a bucket-compatible tank (like openblocks) in order to actually get the liquid chroma out of there
...at least i have the casting room almost set up
[t]http://i.imgur.com/tlJhpSy.png[/t]
for reals there needs to be a better way to get boosted shards tho

Is there a guide for Chromaticraft somewhere? All I've ever found is the early dev showcase video.
[editline]11th January 2015[/editline]

you forgot post on the thread
nah people know that anyway
i don't often sleep and lately i've been pretty fuelled by stimulants so if the server isn't online then people just need to check whether or not i am, if you ask me to restart the server and i'm there then i'll instantly start it no problem, otherwise people spend can spend hours hoping for it to suddenly start again
[editline]11th January 2015[/editline]
changed it anyway tho
Is there a guide for Chromaticraft somewhere? All I've ever found is the early dev showcase video.
the entire mod is designed around being as retarded as possible
basically everything i know so far:
info fragments - dropped when you get killed from a pylon, or found in dungeon chests. so basically just throw yourself at a pylon over and over until you get blank fragments. if you're getting blanks, then do shit in the mod and then proceed to kill yourself again. you can duplicate fragments with [1x paper, 1x black dye, 1x info fragment].
chromatic lexicon - shift+rightclick when active in hotbar to open it up and put info fragments inside of it. it doesn't tell you this anywhere. use WASD to move around in the lexicon, and hold shift to move faster. Once again it doesn't tell you this. you can hold CTRL when in here, and click on an entry, and if it has a crafting diagram it'll pop that up instead of the description (or you could just switch tabs at the left side of the lexicon so you don't have to hold CTRL)
chromaticraft trees/saplings - the logs of the trees are randomized. yes they can even spawn with silverwood logs. tahara trees are the ones you really need but you'll probably need all of them eventually. they drop their respective dye, and a chromaticraft berry of that type.
chromaticraft stone - the stones you see when deep underground that say they're from cromaticraft but look like normal minecraft stone. they're actually hidden until you learn more about the mod at which point they will change sprite and drop useful high level chromaticraft stuff. if you break them before then you'll just gain some experience and it'll drop stone, losing the useful items.
elemental manipulator - 2 sticks and a shard in a normal crafting table. used to obtain power from pylons by holding rightclick when you're pretty far away. used for a lot of other shit too.
pylons - just go to the mining dimension and destroy every pylon you see. grab like an iron pick, go at full mining distance, and just mine a single block to disable them. then proceed to take every block back with you. it'll save you a lot of crafting when you're building the larger structures of the mod
casting table - put items in there like normal crafting table, once something appears in the top right box it's a valid recipe. exit GUI then right-click with your elemental manipulator on the casting table to craft the recipe. if it's an advanced recipe you'll need to create a casting room for it, and place specific runes in various configurations
liquid chroma - make a chroma collector. get like 500 levels worth of experience for a single bucket. put it on ground, and throw 24 berries from chromaticraft sapling trees into the liquid in the world. now throw up to 64 shards into the liquid. wait like 5 minutes. congrats you got boosted shards
[editline]11th January 2015[/editline]
in other news i FINALLY got boosted crystals it literally took like 5 minutes of me just sitting here next to the liquid chroma puddle
so dumb
[editline]11th January 2015[/editline]
if anyone figures out how to actually craft crystal seeds with the casting table that would be super helpful
TCB lay off the speed yo
I was thinking of trying a different mod for general use, as i'm bored of the usual IC/BC/TE combo, but i'm guessing Chromaticraft is not a particularly good choice for that.
TCB lay off the speed yo
fuck speed dawg i've been banging mdma off my piano all night
[editline]11th January 2015[/editline]

Mekanism, let the world of love that is 3x and 4x (don't even 5x) ore processing enter your life.
Don't use the power conduits from it though, they've never been amazing.
mekanism is the shit
[editline]11th January 2015[/editline]
you mean universal cables? shit dawg i love those things
i learned a few things from looking into chromaticraft's source code last night
[sp]- boosted shards aren't really necessary for most/all recipes. they give bonus output (like 8x) if you boost them so it's really worthwhile, but not necessary
- the recipes for stands/compass aren't in yet. there's placeholders in the book/code, but no actual code to handle the recipe itself.
- the recipe for the seed IS in, and requires a templeCasting, which i assume is just the casting room although there is a higher tier casting temple. But there's another subclass of templeCasting that looks like an upgraded version, and templeCasting is the base version so i assume that that is just the internal name for casting room. fuck if i know the recipe doesn't work regardless. all it checks for is if the ring of shard runes around the casting table has a rune of the same type as seed you're making. unless the elements have specific positions and i just put i in the wrong spot. i'll test later by putting an entire ring of the rune down[/sp]
[editline]12th January 2015[/editline]
then again i was looking at the current code base of what i assume to be the next version of chromaticraft on github, and not the jar we currently have, so for all i know i'm as far as i can actually progress in the mod without hacking items in
i'll look in the jar we have too while i'm at it, unless reika properly tagged the commits in git then that would be easier to browse through
the code itself is pretty well designed, but a few of the folders didn't make sense to me at first so i had to do a lot of cross referencing. like putting all of the recipes in the "auxiliary" folder wouldn't have been my first choice; but then again it's not a wrong place to put it. and some recipes are just strewn about randomly in a few manager classes outside of the aux folder
I guess I'll pack all my Chromaticraft stuff away into a box for now.
I'm not sure I see the function though. Is it just good for making potions?

there's a ton of machines/tools/abilities, although some of the machines/tools are nearly identical to ones in other mods. just another way of doing the same stuff i guess
the most usage you'll probably see is for the various abilities, accelerator, fabricator, enchanter, lamp control, aspect converter, and brewer.
a lot of the stuff just enhances/compliments other mods.
some/most of these aren't in, although a lot more are implemented in v4.
ability list below with in-game descriptions. each one runs off of different lumen energy stored in your body. you raise the cap by filling every color of chroma (all 16) to the max by using your elemental manipulator on a pylon of that color.
Reach:
Improving the range at which you can interact with blocks is one of the most sought-after powers of all, to the point where many before you have gone to great lengths, often violating the natural order so badly that they find themselves exiled from the world itself. Finally, however, you have found a real way to acquire this ability yourself, allowing you to break and place blocks up to %d blocks away. You cannot, however, attack mobs or open GUIs outside the normal range.
Magnet:
Many activities tend to scatter items far and wide, leading to a tedious cleanup at best and the destruction of many valuable materials at worst. Fortunately, you have discovered a way to create a magnetic aura around yourself, drawing in items and experience orbs from a large range. Conveniently, items in transit also appear shielded from environmental effects, negating the concern of pesky lava flows and other hazards normally responsible for large losses.
Sonic:
With enough of the energetic elements concentrated on your fingertips, you can release a small shock wave that can clear blocks in a small area, a useful tool if buried or trying to clear an area.
Shift:
With the application of a lot of energy related to movement and terrain, you have found that you can move entire regions of the terrain - though some more complex blocks tend to get left behind - allowing for easy correction of small build errors or large-scale terraforming.
Pylon:
After one too many energy discharges to the face - or perhaps as a result of it - you have finally devised a way to "ground" yourself, causing the pylons's surplus energy to seek alternate routes to dissipate itself. This is of course of obvious utility.
Heal:
Useful if low on food or desperately low on health, the ability to instantly heal a heart or two is an expensive yet indispensable asset.
Health:
Even with the most powerful armor available, and with all sorts of other protections active, you often find yourself still in mortal danger simply due to the fact that some things deal more damage than you can withstand. Fortunately, you have found that you have the ability to increase your life force up to a factor of three with the application of a great deal of associated energy.
Communicate:
You are not alone in this world; you share it with many other creatures, ranging from basic animals to beings advanced enough to try and scam you out of emeralds. However, some of these creatures seem to harbor an irrational hatred for you, attempting to kill you on sight, even if it costs them their own lives. Using the magic elements, combined with the application of a healthy amount of deception, you might be able to stave off their aggression.
Fireball:
You made the mistake of building a frame of obsidian and stepping into the fiery nightmare on the other side, where you were promptly attacked by tentacled clouds that sound like injured children. Their attacks were long-range and difficult to dodge, leading you to wonder if you can find some utility in that if you could replicate that yourself. Fire and heat energy are obvious, but combined with others, like aggression, you have successfully reproduced this capability, and potentially more powerfully as well.
Shield:
Perhaps the most annoying of the creatures you find yourself up against - even outdoing the kamikaze leaf bombs - are skeletons, with their ranged attack and, when in groups, their irriating tendency to imitate a gatling gun. Usefully, however, protective energy can create a field around you to deflect their assault.
Lightning:
From the Greek deity Zeus to a malicious shrouded man, harnessing lightning is one of the classic demonstrations of strong power. With the ability to bring a massive bolt from the sky, you can smite a mob or player or ignite a structure. Better yet, at high charge levels, the shockwave the thunder generates is rather more powerful than the corresponding effect from the natural counterpart and has the capacity to blow apart whatever it hits.
Lifepoint:
You have dabbled in the dark arts, using your own life force to accomplish significant, if rather macabre, feats. However, having tied those powers to your very life has come with a rather unpleasant side-effect; every action you perform directly saps your energy, and any amount of overexertion can push you to the brink of death. Recalling the healing and life power of the %s crystal element, you wonder if you can redirect these drains onto your buffer of crystal energy instead.
Deathproof:
Dying is painful. Not just literally, which is obvious, but more figuratively as well. As you learned the hard way, though your mind has the ability to infinitely respawn, your body - and the energy stored within - is lost, as are some of your other powers. As you wish to avoid this in the future - though you are not confident of your ability to avoid death - you may wish to try to hold on to what you can at the moment of death.
Hotbar:
Too often have you been in the middle of a building project and found your hands full of tools, blocks, and other things and were forced to carefully shuffle around your items when you want a different block than is immediately accessible, and then of course switch it right back when you need the original blocks. If only there was a way to bind a template of sorts to your held items, to alleviate this stupidity.
basic summaries of the machines:
tile accelerators:
speed up nearby tile entities by up to 256x. basically hyperbolic time chamber type stuff
guardian:
allows you to prevent other people from using items in the area of influence and you can choose on a per-player basis
telepump:
pumps liquids of dis-joined liquid blocks in multiple separate "lakes" so it doesn't need to be connected. basically "pump up all lava nearby" in the overworld
miner:
basically like mekanism's digital miner except ~magical~
spawner reprogrammer:
change spawners to spawn whatever, like using enderio's soul binder, except you don't need to break it first or make a powered spawner
rift:
basically a one-way tesseract
tank:
holds a TON of liquid in a small space by ripping a hole in the void and storing it there or something
ticker:
allows tinker's construct self-repairing tools to repair themselves when they're placed inside, and it's faster than when you're holding it
fence:
make a magical fence barrier that blocks stuff out, like various forcefield mods
furnace:
can increase inputs without having to grind everything first
fabricator:
uses lumen energy to fabricate some basic items
beacon:
prevents damage to players nearby by consuming lumen energy
enchanter:
use lumen/chroma to enchant enchant items with fine control over them
brewer:
make potions from crystals, which are easy to obtain in mass quantities with seeds
item collector:
like the item collector from that one mod except probably not as useful
ai shutdown:
turn your cows/sheep into vegetables who just stare into space all day long without moving
aspect converter:
turn lumen energy into thaumcraft aspects
lamp control:
wirelessly output redstone nearby to specific blocks
as far as blocks go you can make a few fancy lamps that act like beacons, or just normal everyday lamps.
EnderTNT allows you to blow up any specific coordinate in any dimension remotely. pretty OP so will probably be banned in the config by default or extremely expensive.
tools are basically like thaumcraft foci, and a few mod-specific tools that wouldn't be useful except for the mod itself
Thinking something may have gone wrong with permissions for myself and maybe a couple other people, can't use /r /msg /help, etc. anymore.
