That is mainly a problem at the lower levels. Low level pilots tend to lack situation awareness and the often times, twitch like reflexes, needed to play the sniper class. The reaper, the light sniper, is more often played as a close to mid range fighter than a long range one. If you are ever unfortunate enough to meet someone who knows what they are doing in either of those mechs, they will utterly roll you.
I actually met a few very formidable reaper players who preferred to fight in close range. After getting my ass handed to me a few times I invested in the air compressor, and basically flew and dodged circles around them while raining missiles down. A few seconds of sustained assault rifle fire and one or two rockets usually takes them out.
i only play reaper and berserker.
I used to play Technician exclusively but they destroyed it trying to balance it. I haven't played since :v:

It needed to be nerfed as heavily as it was. When one mech dictates the flow of battle, you have a problem.

Really the only thing I felt was overpowered was it's special ability. I got shut down in plenty of games by enterprising scouts/infiltrators. Still, it's the only mech I had fun with. I guess I could come back and try the heat based one.

The big problem with it was it's ability, the stickness of it's beam and the regular frequency it became the center of any well coordinated team. It is less pronounced in public random matches, but as teams get more and more coordinated, medics would quickly become the most important element of the team.
On the organized competitive front, it was very common for games to turn into "who can kill the enemy technician first".

Also, we need a new OP.

Or thread.
Should we make a FP squad?
This game is fun, played it like 7 months ago and it's still great.
Gonna smack some money down for the Rocketeer, I love how it hunkers down
I'm always up for a game, ingame name is Crimor, running mainly predator currently, shits way too fun.

I got my friend to start playing. His first match was like that too... he beat me :C
Just had a game where over half the enemy team were fucking homing rocket fucktards, all level 26+ with like two 30's, all elite mechs, I'm level 15. What did I do to deserve that.
Shiit. I used to have a 50 dollar code for this but I lost it.
That makes three mechs I have all of the elite parts for.
Raider
Grenadier

Is flying considered boosting in the case of internals that do stuff when boosting?
since the steam release, are the australian server's decently populated?
I don't want to redownload this to find there's still a grand total of 2 aussies playing

No. There is too much room for abuse then.
Aus servers are like ghost towns.
Aus servers are like ghost towns.
I disagree. I usually find 1-2 full servers. I can see it picking up quite a bit though when the game actually goes F2P on steam.
Bloody game crashed on me while I was at wave 20 in co-op :<

Coop used to be so much harder. Getting to wave 11 was something worth recognition, let alone beating it.
Tried this today for the first time since the closed beta a year ago and I'm really liking it. I first played it about a year and wasn't all that impressed. It ran very poorly and it wasn't all that engaging either.
It's a lot of fun now though. I like all the different mechs and their loadouts. I only just started, so I obviously can't say too much, but I really like the balance between all the different mechs. Even the CRT starter mech is a great mech when played well.

Fear the hot pink bringer of doom
is there a way for fp-ers to get together? like a clan or something?
Is this game worth a buy?
I'd wait. I'm still having fun though. Better than CBT.
The incinerator is hilariously good at coop matches, because it never has to pay for cooling upgrades, and never has to worry about overheating.

No clan system as of yet.

It's coming out within a month, but if you are going to buy something, get the prosk starter bundle. It is on sale on steam for $10 at the moment.
Do we keep our progress after it fully releases on Steam?
Also lol 2.5 KDR, Pilot Level 10, and almost rank 3 on the starter mech in 2 hours of gameplay.

Progress is kept. It's been kept since the alpha. Trust me when I say though, that the KDR will drop when you start seeing level 20's and higher. Level 1-10 is where people learn how to shoot. Level 10-20 is where people learn how to move. And knowing how to move is far far more important than knowing how to shoot.
I know...
