Also, if you really like the starter mech, you'll probably want to buy the assualt. The stats of the two are slightly different, and while the assault is less forgiving, it is a better mech for higher levels of play. [editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] Well, if anyone wants to add me ingame, my name is the same as it is here.
Yes add me Ogo. FPFP Tankmate.
So, I heard you wanted some dakka. This is the G2 assault frame. [t]http://i.imgur.com/oIIn2gM.jpg[/t] [editline]25th February 2014[/editline] It's crap. Don't get it till they change it further.
Is that a pair of vulcans on that frame?
Is that a pair of vulcans on that frame?
I can see that being more of a hinderance than an asset. Sure you may shred enemies at close range, but the second they leave spitting range you will be about as useful as a sharpshooter that can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Is the Incinerator good?
it's ok it should also be noted that the dual vulcans on the new assault actually does 25% less dps than a single vulcan which is absolutely retarded
I was thinking of picking up the starter bundle for this game. Are the starter mechs any good? And if I were to pick the game up, what're your recommendations for other mechs to pick up?

The deal is, for 10 more DPS (which is what the g2 assault has) you lose the tow (long range firepower) and burst damage. It's a completely shit trade. As for the mechs it comes with, all of them are relatively good Vanguard- close range C class. High DPS close, and very tough to crack. Low to moderate skill level. Sharpshooter- B-class hitscan sniper. High alpha damage. Moderate skill level at lower levels, twitch shooting/ high skill at the higher levels. Inflitrator- A class mech with stealth ability for high probability first strike/evasion. High skill level. If you are thinking of other mechs to purchase, just get a feel for which of the mechs of the ones you get you like before making the decision.

You can't balance mechs off of lone-wolf style play.
Progress is kept. It's been kept since the alpha. Trust me when I say though, that the KDR will drop when you start seeing level 20's and higher. Level 1-10 is where people learn how to shoot. Level 10-20 is where people learn how to move. And knowing how to move is far far more important than knowing how to shoot.
Nah, people tend to screw up their aim with their own movement, you just gotta learn to sync your aim and movement. Hawken is also a game with barely any sharp movements, so it's not like dodging will actually help tremendously.

You can't balance mechs off of lone-wolf style play.
No it's shit. Full stop. There is no situation where it is a better selection than the standard assault. In no situation does it outperform any other mech. For fucks sake, it nearly has lower DPS than the technician. If an assault fires lands every shot of it's single vulcan, while the G2 starts firing both weapons at the same time, the G2 will win by ~20 health. This is not even looking at the TOW on the assault. In fact, the G2 firing both vulcans has a 10 DPS higher than the single vulcan on the assualt. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tBxvg4Cc18[/hd]

Definitely needs tweaking. Why would they change how the same weapon works on different mechs?

Or is acquiring mechs easy enough that you shouldn't spend money on them (or roughly $3)?
Is the scout still a beast? I remember back when I played I could wipe the floor with just the scout and mini-flak.

The more expensive option is definitely worth it if you are just starting out though and fine spending the money (I have almost all the mechs included in it, so it does nothing for me). A new mech will run you between 6000-12000 in game credits, or ~720-1440 of the hawken credits. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline]
Is the scout still a beast? I remember back when I played I could wipe the floor with just the scout and mini-flak.
The Scout with HEAT cannon is still regarded as the best 1v1 mech in the game, followed by the infiltrator. It has gotten harder, but it has one of the highest, if not highest skill ceilings in the game. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] Also, for people wondering about stats of the mechs. [t]http://i59.tinypic.com/154hfg6.png[/t]
How many credits do you earn per match? And I'm fine with spending that much money. I've made a fortune from Dota 2 in my Steam wallet so I'm not really spending a dime of my actual money. The last event with the Year Beast netted me like $300 from selling the items I've earned through that. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] If it's easy to earn credits to buy new mechs, then I don't see the point of the $30 pack, even if I do have the money.
you earn around 100-150 credits each match depending on what place you are at the end (not counting first win of the day) a cheap mech costs around 3250, an expensive mech runs for ~10k.
Got the $30 pack anyway. So far I'm in love with the Brawler. My very first match I got a 4.00 KDR and like 8 assists and my team won with me as my team's MVP. Absolutely loving everything about the game so far, no regrets. The combat feels like an actual mech war. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] Also, the secondary explode-on-command rocket seems like it would be annoying as fuck to deal with. I just spammed it down a chokepoint and it always dealt great damage.
I've fallen in love with the Rocketeer in team games. Its absolute shit in a solo environment but the amount of consistent damage it can throw downrange is really useful.
I love it when there's a chokepoint on maps. Just throwing down waves of rockets and seeing numbers pop up on my screen never gets old :v:
Just played a REALLY close game. We were behind a full 1k points and their battleship was bringing us down to 200~. Eventually our team came together and got a bunch of healers and we were able to hold on to the AA for the rest of the game and win. Holy crap that was close. Also my first MVP game (highest KDA and kills too!). Once I saw we were losing so hard I couldn't give up. I ran straight into enemy fire and tried my best. This is a game of comebacks, oh dear god. The assault frame is now my favorite because of this. [editline]26th February 2014[/editline] Double post..?
I love the M4M4 on my incinerator, ain't a top scorer but holy hell it's effective at making sure everything dies.
Anyone just get an update today? I don't see any patch notes (except for the 25th).
I was in the middle of a game when it said: "WARNING. IN TEN MINUTES THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE. MID-GAME PROGRESS SHALL NOT BE SAVED." Well then.
Anyone just get an update today? I don't see any patch notes (except for the 25th).

Greetings pilots! On February 27 at 9:30 a.m. PST, we'll be taking the HAWKEN game client and servers offline to deploy a few bug fixes. Our main focus was on the way our system is handling the issues with our social features. While we're still working on fixing all of the issues related to our social system and XMPP, we wanted to implement these fixes to help smooth out the player experience. We expect the downtime to last 30 minutes. Bugs Fixed Leaving a party while the social system was experiencing difficulties would cause a soft lock. If the social system disconnected during gameplay, attempts to reconnect caused frame rate hitches. Fixed a bug with the Technician that caused the Kill Cam to highlight the mech image instead of the weapon image.
why is it 500 mb?
Just fired up Hawken for the first time since beta and have 15k HC apparently. Is it worth buying a new mesh over the CRT? Seems like a decent all rounder. Kind of tempted to buy the Raider. Is that a terrible idea?
No CRT carry hard
Just fired up Hawken for the first time since beta and have 15k HC apparently. Is it worth buying a new mesh over the CRT? Seems like a decent all rounder. Is that a terrible idea?
The Raider is a decent mech at the moment, though it is seen as a touch (and I stress touch) under par on the more competitive side of Hawken. However, it is still a relatively solid mech. If you really like the CRT, buy the assault. Though it may be a little more difficult to newer players, it's stats are more favorable to higher levels of play. [editline]27th February 2014[/editline] Pick up a berserker or infiltrator for a A class mech if you want one.
