The Raider is a decent mech at the moment, though it is seen as a touch (and I stress touch) under par on the more competitive side of Hawken. However, it is still a relatively solid mech. If you really like the CRT, buy the assault. Though it may be a little more difficult to newer players, it's stats are more favorable to higher levels of play. [editline]27th February 2014[/editline] Pick up a berserker or infiltrator for a A class mech if you want one.
Okay cool. I figure I've got enough money to buy one of each class (the cheaper ones at least). Test driven assault and scout. Assault played pretty much like CRT to be fair so I can see why it would be a sound purchase for anyone who likes the CRT. haven't tried the grenadier yet, will do so Sunday evening and see how I feel about heavies. I'm gonna wager they'll feel too slow for me. I could potentially buy two of the mid-cost mechs (A and B class). So much choice! Wish there was an offline test drive for all mechs or something.
You probably won't like the grenadier. Once people know what they are doing (not letting themselves stand still and be hit by grenades) it becomes a very difficult mech to play. [editline]28th February 2014[/editline] Back when mechs had a difficulty rating in alpha, the grenadier was rated as the highest with good reason. [editline]28th February 2014[/editline] G2 Assualt got a buff yesterday
We've made a few small balance changes to the XT Vulcan weapon on the G2 Assault mech. We agree that the mech needed to be a bit stronger so we decided to tweak the XT Vulcan slightly to increase the mech's viability. XT Vulcan Increased damage from 13.5 to 15.5 Decreased heat per shot from 1.2 to 1.1 Reduced spread by 10%
[editline]28th February 2014[/editline] It will still need a little bit of a buff in the future to make it relatively competitive, but it is not terrible now at least.
Buff Rocketeer i need more damage
I love sitting in the corner of the map with sight on the objective as the Rocketeer and just spam my rockets at anything that moves.
Do they ever have HC discounts on mechs?
Do they ever have HC discounts on mechs?
Older mechs tend to be cheaper. But occasionally, yes.

It's the only mech I can't by with HC. Is that intended, or do I need to prestige with the original assault or what?
What's the deal with the G2A? It's the only mech I can't by with HC. Is that intended, or do I need to prestige with the original assault or what?
The Generation 2 mechs are going to be variants where you have to max rank the standard one.
You can only buy it with HC if you max out the ranking on the regular Assault. Too bad the original Assault is better, which makes no damn sense.
Technician update since I finally got around to registering my Steam key: Total fucking shit. They absolutely destroyed the ability for the Technician to really do anything but spot heal. I can't outheal even long ranged Vulcan fire and I overheat before I can DPS down type B's. I just kind of sit around the battlefield spot wlding people then going "welp" when they inevitably die anyway. It's really bad in an FPS (a mech-based FPS at that) when I feel utterly powerless in basically all scenarios. I get that it was powerful but it's been so thoroughly ruined that I'm kind of mad I didn't get some kind of compensation. Forum QQ wins again I suppose. Time to find a mech I like playing, but since Technician was really the only one I'm probably just not going to play Hawken anymore.
I played with a few Technicians on my team before the change and they were the most helpful members of my team, it was fantastic playing with a team that could coordinate. But apparently the forum wanted it to be more like Call of Duty and now that they're nerfed my fun has been lessened.
The funny thing is they didn't even nerf the one thing I thought was too powerful; it's ability. I can still use Amplify to totally negate another players damage against myself and a teammate for it's full duration. Of course when amplify isn't up I'm wasting a slot for a better mech.
How much HC you guys at? I'm hoarding and at ~25,000.
23k, can't figure out what robot I want to buy next. Maybe Reaper.
About the same for me as well.
I have almost 20k and I still don't know what mech I want next. Still rocking the CRT.
berserker is such an insane fallback mech. sucking and dying while using one mech? switch to the berserker. bottom of the scoreboard? switch to the berserker. unbalanced teams? switch to the berserker.
So I ended up not spending any of my credits at all and just buying the Nemesis pack, because for $30 it's an insane deal and they're getting rid of it Monday. Assault is super fun. Can't wait to hit level 3 with it so I can get the Vulcan.
What was in the update?
Small hotfix (bugs)
[t]http://i.imgur.com/9pgsjin.jpg[/t] Easily my best match so far. Got 10 kills without dying too. Half the game left before I could cap it.
psh I've gotten 36 kills before
just played this game after trying it during closed beta 12/0 too stronk
Wish the game had a single player mode. The overall game is awesome but I'm not one for competitive mulitplayer.
I played Hawken way back when I think in the 2nd closed beta they had and it was annoying to me because they had veteran testers pitted against brand-newbies and it turned me off until now, with the Steam release. I'm giving it another shot, but I'm essentially still a newbie. Any pointers / advice?

From being an initiate, you'll get 500 MC which is the currency used with real money, spend it wisely. Team cooperation results to success in Siege mode. (Seriously, go to AA already if there's already less than or 200 EU required for the battleship and that someone else is already delivering the EU.) Look out for Hawken emailing you a code for a 3-day XP boost, I just got it yesterday.
Look out for Hawken emailing you a code for a 3-day XP boost, I just got it yesterday.
Whaaaaaaat. I didn't get one. I could use it to push through the last two levels of the Assault too.
Yeah I didn't get any XP boost email nor a 500MC gift.
Yeah I didn't get any XP boost email nor a 500MC gift.
The 500 MC is randomly just sent to you if you first started playing. Also here's the email message that I got from them. [IMG_thumb]https://db.tt/ZnDrgwl5[/IMG_thumb]
