Tried it, didn't seem very useful. This game has that whole "everyones guns do more damage than yours" issue that BF3 and CS:S seem to have. I really want to have fun in this game, but I can't.
I'm pretty sure that isn't a real issue.
I went infil against some heavy mech thing. He was me, turreted, I naded him and dodged left around a building. Kept going around to get behind him, learned that they can still rotate in that form. He was almost lined up with me, and then I jumped over him, flaked his face, and he died. The controls were interesting to get used to after playing MWO for a couple weeks. totally different playstyles, but it is such a blast.

Also I went 9/0 as rocketeer, it's easy as hell, your missiles can lock on and your little red dot things do insane damage

I'm hoping for either a rebalance of damage/armor, or the ability for server hosts to toggle some forms of hardcore difficulty, making people harder to kill in general so you really have to work for your kill in smaller skirmishes. Another thing I'd actually want to do away with is the radar, the game has so much potential for tactical movement and placement but the radar just makes it a matter of knowing to aim ata the end of a particular wall and open up at the right time. No sense of danger around every corner, you see everyone and everyone sees you (within range).
I read about HAWKEN in PCG Swe, i thought it looked amazing! And i still stand by that opinion.

To remove them would be to chip away what sets it apart from more conventional mech games. It was meant to be, dare I say it, a more casual experience. When I say that, I don't mean less skill intensive, I mean better formatted for drop in-drop out multiplayer experiences.
Really hope they work on optimization soon. No matter what settings I use it always runs at 10-25 fps for me. Other than that it's freaking fun as flip!
I remembered the game has a zoom function only after the 4th time I played. I felt quite stupid, but boy does the Sabot rifle get more interesting with it.
I hope they do more customization stuff. Right now it looks like you can only buy pre-made mechs, and buying new body parts for them doesn't seem to affect the stats, then again there isn't many stats shown about each mech anyways, just a few little bars.

Casual gaming is still applicable, but there's a slightly different experience available to people who want. It's nice and fast paced as-is, but I feel there's a fine balance in how you take damage where it feels like you're a walking tank taking high power hits, or just a dude wearing a cardboard box running around a godzilla movie set. Right now it's definitely leaning towards the big tank feel, but it's still not as far up the slider as I would like

I prefer long, drawn out and slow battles rather than a 1 second blitz. That and the 0 second respawn time, there doesn't seem much penalty for death other than your ranking. The flak is kind of shit and probably why I was dying so much, the other option for the main weapon is pretty cool though.
Oh, 'nother thing: does anyone know how to stop the fucking "REGISTER A SURVEY MONKEY ACCOUNT LOL" thing from popping up every time I exit the game?

Hellfire missiles lock on by default Middle Click, basically all the secondary weapons have something attached to Middle click for them.
I got my invite an hour ago, and I must say this is one of the best games I've played all year.
There's no chance I just got my invite to alpha 2, and I certainly didn't just download it
I'll have to download this when I get home, I really don't want my laptop to explode.
i am SO excited to see how this turns out with oculus rift. oh my god, i've never been so hyped for a piece of hardware before
i just got invited to alpha test 2
It's a real bummer that this is just a random drawing. I played it at PAX, have been a big advocate of it and signed up as soon as I could have and I still can't play it :/ I know I'm not entitled to anything, but it's disappointing.
haha, ironically as soon as I say my above post I get an update on my phone: "new email: WELCOME TO HAWKEN ALPHA" oh buddy [editline]27th September 2012[/editline] thx alpha test 2
