The thing is, the KOS system could be solved by just adding something that either reduces the chance of killing or makes killing a hard thing to do. Either:
A. Make guns plentiful but ammo scarce
or
B. Implement a mental state meter. It's the apocalypse, everyone's freaking the fuck out. The more people you kill, the more insane you become, meaning you have worse aim or something.
It's an apocalypse, everyone is trying to survive. You aren't going to group with people you don't know, so go play with friends.
Usually when a group is larger, they'll invite 1-2 people groups every here and there, but not everyone is going to be friendly.
Making a meter to reduce your aim just because you killed a lot is really dumb. I shouldn't get worse at aiming by doing that, I should be getting better.

the problem with these games is that it's under the assumption that everyone has friends available at their beck-and-call to play with (hint: they don't. that's why matchmaking was created), so when you have a bunch of people flying solo what do you think is going to happen.
these games have one major problem that everyone seems to overlook: the shooter element. if you remove the shooter element then people will behave. but since all of these games thinks it's okay to just give people machineguns and sniper rifles (even though they're 'rare') they completely mitigate any form of roleplaying or responsibility. As soon as you get a rifle in any of these games it typically just turns in to how many people can you massacre until you get taken down yourself. It doesn't simulate real-life scenarios: it simulates every other shooter out there. And since none of these developers have figured out a way to remove the shooter element it still sticks around like a bad itch that you can't scratch until you've got bodies of innocent people piled up in the back of your pickup truck. becuause you really wanted to use the last of your bullets before you die. after all, you did spend three hours searching for that ammo
In all honesty i'm starting to be a little annoyed to stare at a shitty splash screen since yesterday.
I get to a screen where I should be able to select servers to play on, but it's unresponsive apart from the exit game button. Like the join server button is ghosted out.

Let's just hope they don't fix an issue to create another one.

Hopefully. I'm excited to try it out :)
Think I'll just wait until it leaves EA.
I really don't see the point in paying for Early Access to a game that's going to be free down the line.
Yeah, I'll probably miss out on some nice bonuses, and the people that have been around since day one will have a nice lead on me, but I'd rather wait and see if I'll like the game at all when it's free than pay $20 for it now and find out that I don't like it.
All this rage around the game essentially being broken right now is resulting in some great comedy though.
I was sitting in a police car, trying to put in spark plugs and stuff and some guy walks up to it with a bow and arrow, shoots the police car and it explodes with me inside.
Meh just ran around for a half hour starving because I couldn't scavenge anything and reached the game world limit and tried to jump off into the infinte void and commit suicide but I died from starvation instead.
I'd wait a while, its not really worth playing at the moment.
I'm surprised how many people are defending this blatant bullshit on Facepunch considering even Reddit has common sense about the whole thing. Usually they're the ones that will have ridiculous fanboys.
Not really since its more of how you use those weapons than anything else.
"Doesn't matter if it's P2W, you need to know how to use the advantage you bought"
What the fuck? Why do so many fanboys insist to pretend like P2W means literally "pay to win" and not "pay to gain power, advantage"?
You got a weapon. You got much more powerful than you were before having a weapon. It's P2W
What's so hard to understand? Or are you being sarcastic? Doesn't seem that way, but it's even harder to believe there are actually people who think like that lmao
The airdrops themselves seem like they can be very easily tweaked by SOE. However, it seems like the rabid mongloids over in the subreddit are incapable of logic or common sense and insist that SOE and Smedley have betrayed them.
Loving this one even more.
Yeah, let's ignore what they said in a certain video at 40:40 few days ago and other numerous times when they said they'll only sell cosmetics.
They don't sell only cosmetics, they sell weapons and loot. They lied, that's an undeniable fact. Will tweaking the airdrop distance change that fact? No, of course it won't.
Doesn't help that the game is a broken mess, is this your post-purchase rationalization for falling for this cashgrab?

I honestly think the post where that dev said they would not sell weapons and loot was very poorly worded. They didn't lie straight at our faces, it was more like: "Hey, you can buy cosmetics in an ingame store but you can't buy loot directly."
There was never any word what would be in these crates. Hell, what do you expect?

They didn't say what would be in those crates, but they said very clearly that it won't have any weapons or ammo.
That being said, I was expecting some way to get power with real money(e.g. food, ingredients, crafting parts), this is SEO after all. But not nearly as much

Well of course they didn't say directly there would be weapons in crates, nobody would have brought it then.
They didn't say anything on purpose.
I swear to god i've found two guns so far but not a single bottle of water with actual water in it.
I'm dying.

I found an M4 in a random house bathroom, an M4 on the kitchen counter in another house, atleast 30 odd pistols in various houses, and about 12 rifles.
Didn't the devs say that guns were rare?
Probably part of it being early access and all.
I lost my shit when i tried to play on a Battle Royale server.

So what are in crates?
So what are in crates?
Regret
I'm a bit bothered by the metric shitton of US servers and the lack of EU servers though. You can't access a EU server without having to wait 35 minutes or so.

You confusing an instant reward for spending money with something that isn't guarunteed to benefit you. I mean how fucking dense can you be.
Yeah, you pay money do make an airdrop happen. Does that mean you are guaranteed to get the shit in the airdrop? No. Does changing the airdrop distance change that fact, Yes actually it does. It changes the liklihood of you getting the drop in the first place. How is that simple concept eluding you?
OK you just paid money to add a really fucking noisy obvious box of loot to the world. Good luck getting it. Not to mention they have more recently said that the loot inside scales to the player pop so that weapons and such would be much more rare on low pop servers.
It doesn't matter how broken the airdrops are right now because clearly it's something they are still working on.
Just launched the game and I don't understand the server population count as it says medium yet there is a queue. Who came up with this idea as the server is clearly full then. Also the lack of EU servers sucks and the only EU servers don't have any first person only options.
[editline]16th January 2015[/editline]
After waiting in a queue I was down to 12 and then it the queue number and timer disappeared. A minute later the game crashed.
[editline]16th January 2015[/editline]
Turns out it is because the server went down and it causes your game to crash if you are in the queue.
so far the reviews are full of peopel that cant even start the game.
Another bug after deleting your character on a server you cannot click back to exit onto the server list you have to make a new character on that server or exit the game.
So to sum it up, this is another Infestation: Survivor Stores aka War Z?
(It was a question, not a statement, I haven't bought the game but a lot of people seem to be complaining about false promises and pay 2 win which was the main problem with War Z, with the exception that the War Z was also buggy in all sorts of ways)
So to sum it up, this is another Infestation: Survivor Stores aka War Z?
There's nothing wrong with the base game though.
It's just the airdrop bullshit.
I can't believe people are paying to alpha test a F2P title...
I can't believe people are paying to alpha test a F2P title...
I can't believe people are still saying this after all this time.
People will do what they want with their own money. The fact that you sit there and judge them for it just makes you seem a little silly.
On the topic of the actual game though, I just woke up to find a shitstorm brewing over this game. I tried to log in last night but it wasn't happening, and I figured that's what was going to happen anyway so I just went to bed.
The steam reviews are really negative, but it's mostly people who threw the reviews up because they couldn't log in, and now I'm reading most of the negative reviews are based around the fact that the airdrops have weapons and items in them which makes the game "pay to win".
Are those two things (the login issues and the airdrops) the only reason the game is getting hate right now? Is anyone actually playing the game for a decent amount of time and then judging the early access alpha game?
Am I missing something or are people just being extraordinarily pissy about this? The airdrops could very much be an accident, like the loot table not being adjusted before release or something. It'll get fixed if they intend to fix it. If it doesn't get fixed, then all the hate will be justified, but until a few days/weeks have passed, all this hate is just immature kids throwing a fit.

Did the same thing with Planet Side 2's alpha squad, didn't regret.

Yeah, they are taking alot of heat for basically going from saying that crates will be cosmetic stuff only to them containing guns and items that give you a huge advantage. Hopefully they will listen.
This game even for an alpha, is rubbish. Even if everything worked correctly it would still be generic and boring.
Even Unturned at it's current state is far better.
Every single thing about this game, current or planned, doesn't match up to 7DaystoDie except for it's graphics.
The crafting, base building, loot system, and interface are all amazing in 7 Days. The base building alone makes the reply value of that game huge.
I know that game came out awhile ago and it really sucked when it did, but I can't see this game coming close to what that offers, especially since they are updating it a lot.
This game is currently just a big glitchy open world deathmatch in which you slowly starve to death
The only reason I don't regret buying it is the 2 hours of hilarious things that happened due to how bad the game was and laughing about it with other players in the world
