Sounds like they're allowing self-refunds for it this weekend. Can't really ask more than that of them, I guess. I think despite all the warnings a lot of people still go into Early Access expecting too much, for some reason. You should expect a barely functional game that you're supposed to try and break, because you're testing it, not necessarily playing it.
"If you feel like the airdrops are an issue for you, you may immediately request a refund to bwilcox@soe.sony.com - this offer applies till Monday and it applies only to people that have purchased the game as of 10:30am Pacific today 1/16/2015 -"
If you do this they'll just tell you to go to your steam profile; account details > store transactions and "click request a refund" You'll get steam wallet cash back.
Anyone know if it's possible to get SLI running correctly? Some people say they got it working on their systems, but the only "fix" I found was to add H1Z1 to PS2's profile in NInspector. Which seems to do nothing. GPU1 is at like 10-15% usage and GPU2 is maxed out. Getting like 40-45fps in-game with my 580's
Nope. My 690 is also slacking as all hell on H1Z1. Guess we have to wait for a profile.
This game looks like a mod
This game looks like a mod
I can't tell if this is supposed to be snarky or something. Like some of the best stuff i've played has been mods. (Project Reality etc)
I think most standalone zombie survival type of games look like mods when it comes to the visuals.
But that's just me.

Visually, H1Z1 is a lightweight.
I've been watching people stream this on and off for a day or so, and I have to say this game is absolute dog shit. It seems to be one of those "let's see what's popular with the kids these days and try to wring some cash out of them" scams.
If you're defending this game, take a step back and ask yourself why you are defending it. Are you defending it because you want it to be good? Because you have a dream about what it could be, not what it is? Maybe you're afraid to admit you tossed money down a drain, and you need to justify your purchase?
These people are snake oil salesmen. They sell you a dream. They get people hyped up and ready to whop their wallets on the countah, because they know they can get away with it. There will always be fanboys who defend their dreams, no matter how shit the product is.
They pretty much pulled the oldest trick in the book. Know that story how people who've been given ten bucks tend to be happier than people who've been given twenty and then had ten taken away? That's what this is. They told you the game wouldn't be pay to win, made it pay to win, then said they'll tone it down to make it less pay to win and everyone's applauding this shit. It's still pay to win in the end. They just pulled a bait and switch on you.
I'm so glad I decided to put off my purchase and wait to see what the game was like before I bought it. I'm so sad there still are suckers that buy games based on hype and dreams. Early Access should've been a massive warning flag.
Tried this out again and made some progress. Bow and a fire.

Some guy wanted my bow so I gave him an arrow.
[t]http://puu.sh/eDLe3/89930210e4.jpg[/t]
I hunted. Hitting it with a stick just makes it turn into blood.

And this prick came at me with an axe but he was no match for my stick. Well I broke his axe but he had some berries and corn seeds.

I haven't bought the game or even heard much about it until a few days ago. So I'm not going to judge it, especially when it's also obviously an unfinished product.
However, I do find it very hilarious that people are complaining about this as if it was the real finished deal.
If you're pissed off about the airdrops or just in general don't like the game in it's current state either don't buy it or ask for a refund.
We'll see where the game goes over the coming weeks and months. Perhaps they'll make the chance to get weapons even less likely or completely remove it based on user feedback.
From what I've played it's at least been entertaining, but it's definitely nowhere near finished.
blah blah blah.
I was defending this game because people were bashing it based on an idiotic interpretation of the airdrop mechanic. They were going into hysterics over something that was always super easy to fix, and has since been fixed as easily as I predicted.
Otherwise, I fully expect this game to go follow the development path of Planetside 2 to the letter. Spending a few months adding content, and then sort of losing it's way as people begin questioning what gives the game it's identity.
I'm not expecting anything spectacular, but I am expecting that SOE will at least toe the line with other developers in the genre and I suppose that is good enough for me.
Because when you think about it, once the dev team regain their footing, this will be one of the only zombie survival multiplayer (or simply a multiplayer survival game with a marginal zombie threat) games that has decent survival mechanics and is more or less stable with a potentially insane player count.

You would be surprised how many morons on reddit thought that the Early Access release was only supposed to be one day.

As someone who was interested but not super hyped about the game who also watched streams, I really don't see what's horrible about it from first glance. It doesn't look the most impressive visually and the issue of airdrops is problematic, but other than that the mechanics look pretty solid. People are genuinely having fun with the game, and most of the users raging on reddit and such haven't even played the game.
That's not to say that SOE is perfect in all this. If it wasn't for people's complains they might have never nerfed the airdrops as they are doing now. But I feel like the hate bandwagon from a lot of people who are barely educated about why the feature is controversial is to blame as well. Saying that "H1$1" is WarZ-tier levels of garbage is a little extreme.

Exactly. SOE did make a mistake, but I doubt it was malicious one.
The problem is that 'complaint' is very lightly putting it. As you said you get people even on the H1Z1 reddit who know surprisingly little about airdrops and just hivemind the fuck up and rage.
The fact that smedly/whomever wrote a full blown apology to these blowhards irks me a little. Yes, a post of explanation was in order for sure, but writing an apology to someone in my mind is an expression of mutual respect.
Saying "I'm sorry we did something to hurt/upset you" Works if the people you offended actually view you with a modicum of respect. What's been happening is that SOE is trying to maintain a conversation with people who immediately accuse them of the lowest levels of scumbaggery and continue to do so irregardless of SOE's attempt to explain and make amends.
If I were Smedley, I would have made an informative post about the changes, put it out there and for the most part flat out ignore the cesspool of that subreddit until it blew over, or they had something useful to say.

Yeah, I'm browsing that subreddit right now and only a few users are providing level-headed understandable criticism as to why they dislike the feature.
Meanwhile there are some idiots who accused the devs of lying about there being airdrop changes, even though the patch containing said changes hadn't even arrived yet... It will probably be better in a few weeks when everyone's less emotional, but hopefully they'll be able to improve their game's already weakening reputation soon.
Made a first impressions vid, tried not to focus too much on p2w controversy
Made a first impressions vid, tried to focus on the game rather than controversy (though it is mentioned a couple of times :)

Now that I was able to join a populated server without having to wait an hour and without any lag, I'm actually really enjoying the game :v:
PvP servers seem like the only way to enjoy this game atm, at least that's my opinion. Having no mic kinda cripples my interactions but it's been really nice, there's been flat out guides who take me into the cities for loot runs, all the way to maniacs in motorcycle helmets who ride around in cop cars and try to "detain me" and then start beating me with clubs (stabbed one of them to death and the others buggered off.
Bandit's are also way more diverse, yes there's still times where I sit somewhere and I just get shot dead the second I see someone, but I've stumbled on player bases, where they set up in a supermarket, and have deer and wolf corpses outside the place, I've had groups running across the horizon to see me and yell "Hey guys let's kill this fucker, maybe we can eat him!" Stuff like that is pretty good for player interaction, and the community seems to be a lot of people wanting a different experience than hearing a gunshot and falling to the ground, very fun first impression, lot's of potential.
Playing alone, Im not really sure what to do. Any ideas?
I was exploring a town and kept running into the same group of 3 guys. One gave me a pistol and some ammo, the other gave me some water. I collected some food and antibiotics on my run and when I came across that group again, I dropped a bunch of stuff to repay them. They thanked me, waved, and went off in another direction after about an hour of random encounters.
I've yet to run into any "bandits". Everyone is usually pretty nice, at least on the server I played on.
All my player interaction has either been:
1) Fresh spawn fist fights
2) Pressing f11 then running
3) Some guy with an axe vs unarmed me
4) Guy who sucked ass at shooting

Can't wait for the EU servers on tuesday. Waiting for 1-2 hours to get on any EU server is not something I want to spend the weekend doing.
do pve servers have a lot more loot than pvp ones?
i joined a medium-populated pvp server and i could hardly find anything
Having experienced an airdrop last night, I think it's awesome. I was following the package delivery from a distance with nothing, I crouched and walked up a hill with some binoculars to look at it, and I saw it fall... explode... and a pile of zombies came out and immediately started surrounding the party waiting for it. half of them died, and the other half killed each other over it.
Edit: I exaggerated with the kill bit. They shot at each other until all the ammo from the crate was gone and they scattered. I wanted to sound more interesting. Was hilarious with them on VOIP though "Get the fuck away from me"
Another patch coming tonight:

So i found an infinite wooden plank exploit..

It got much bigger than this, go and find it up on Mercy if you really want to have a look at it, its around for a week.
I got a truck working, went to a town and smashed zombies to help somebody. Someone else with a hammer popped up and hit my truck a few times. Truck exploded and killed me. Guy walked away.
Went up to the radio station, took a view of Pleasant Valley.
