It doesn't stack directly, it just re-rolls for each individual crit. You can't crit a crit, for example.

it seems to stack oddly and with separate chances but it does stack, in a way
It works like that with Mjollnir & Maelstrom too, you can't proc multiple chainlightnings but buying more of them gives increased chance to proc it, hence why stacking Mjollnirs is great
Stacking other items:
[B]Sange, Sange &Yasha, Halberd[/B] maim chance also [B]stacks indirectly[/B]. Stacking them gives higher chance of maim.
[B]Skullbasher/Abyssal[/B] bash [B]doesn't stack[/B]
[B]MKB[/B] [B]stacks directly[/B] and it [I]can[/I] proc multiple times in a single attack (6 MKB:s means you have a tiny chance to proc 6 x 100 bonus damage)
[B]Battle Fury[/B] [B]stacks directly[/B], and all cleave instances are separate: This means Nyx can block a single instance of cleave, but all others go through. Each instance also rids stuff like TA or Treant armor stacks. BFury cleave stacks with other cleave effects.
[B]Stout Shield & Vanguard[/B] [B]stacks indirectly[/B]: You can only proc one damageblock per attack, but getting more shields increases the chance to block.
[B]Bloodstone[/B] stacks in a different way: Multiple Bloodstones give you multiple stacks, meaning the manaregen, -gold & death time penalty stacks directly with each stone, but stacking them isn't usually wise because only the first Bloodstone can get new stacks, but upon death all Bloodstones lose stacks.
[B]Heart of tarrasque stacks directly[/B].
[B]Power Treads[/B] can be [B]stacked to gain more stats[/B] and they can all be independently toggled. [B]Attack speed[/B] from Power Treads [B]doesn't stack.[/B]
[B]Armlet Of Mordiggian doesn't stack.[/B]

The chance is increased less and less each time though. It's diminishing returns.
