I've once gotten a Midas with doom at around 5 minutes, and our mid stole the courier because it held his tangos. He then proceeded to get the courier killed.

Stick is the only item that I would consider useful on every single hero in the game. You can and should skip getting the wand upgrade where possible but the power of that burst heal (especially at a stage in the game where healing abilities and items like Mek aren't really around) is incalculable. You should only skip it under exceptional circumstances (e.g. a lane of literal freefarm).
