I always did think it was weird how male characters/genderless ones with male voices had so much variety going for them and most female chars are basically the same supermodel.
Still creeped out by Naga Siren's face from the depths of the uncanny valley.

I'd assume the biggest thing that is causing this is that valve is porting the heroes from their WC3 bases, so they would more than likely show some similarities to their counterparts

Maybe because they dont want to stray too far from the original models. almost all the female models in wc3 were just generic soldiers.
I don't think it's weird that valve doesn't have many uggo female heroes; ultimately their designers are in the business of making likeable characters and unfortunately for whatever reason uggo women aren't particularly appealing, while some uggo men can pull it off a la Lion. It's probably sexism at play but I resent feminists who think it's up to artists like the designers for games/art/movies/whatever to change gender perceptions. Just let them fucking get on with their craft.
But yeah I'm probably preaching to the choir so sorry!
