It seems to be something like the problem with Bethesda and Scrolls. Properly some of the developers received the posters and thought they were cool, but their legal department didn't quite think it was legal.
Anyways, try sending them a mail or something.

well technically no, he's using the hero card portraits, which are animated video files, so they're basically always default
the ingame portraits use the actual models in real-time or whatever so they can actually change based on cosmetics
