Yea, but mask is cheap and help you get that faster.

Except you don't need mask to gank, that's the great thing, you don't need anything to gank early game.
MoM and phase is core on every hero.

depends on who and where you gank. Some cheap shitload of AS and MS is always relevant when ganking, especially when it goes bad. Perma bashing is such bullshit.
Now, this isn't the general chat, but I'll drop my opinion anyway. Personally, when I am playing as SB, I just try to get lvl 6 and then start ganking lanes, together with who is on my team there. To snowball, I never really go for mask of madness unless I'm joking around. I try to keep my item build very focused to one specific game. So I'm always adjusting my SB item build to whatever my team needs.
Although the one I keep returning the most to are: mana boots(yes you read correctly, its when I am supporting)/pts to a drum (if nobody else is building one) to an agh scepter, and then whatever I need, for an example a bkb. Having a spammable SB Ult with steroids are pretty damn good.
I always go Treads -> Drum -> Armlet -> usually BKB at this point -> AC, from here on it depends. Agh's, Shadowblade and crits are all valid.

IMO, almost all new female avatars look genuinely worse than the old ones.
I actually like the redesigned versions of females more.
The old ones looked way too bland.
