Abaddon being my favourate hero I actually didnt like the concept for him, looks like a skinny, short dude riding a weird griffon/horse hybrid.
I liked the wc3 model because his lore was like he was some paladin or some shit then he lost a battle and got turned to the scourge which sorta makes sense with his model being an undead horse and hrey haired knight, that and i hate green so a primarily green model would make me cry

Arthas' story arc in WC3 certainly bore a strong resemblance to that of Sarah Kerrigan in Starcraft; both succumbed to a darker power, and later became rulers over the dark powers that consumed them.
Still, with Wrath of the Lich King, Arthas passed on after being defeated and the Lich King found a new host, whilst in Starcraft 2 Kerrigan was purified of the zerg essence, only to reclaim her place as the Queen of Blades and became Zerg once more, so their stories do diverge later on.
But with Abaddon in Dota 2, I can assume that as the Lord of Avernus, and the fact he mentions House Avernus and the mist, he's the leader of a group of people who deal with the Avernal Mists. The mentioning of House Avernus also kinda reminds me of the House of Ambry where Lycan came from.

The lines between Nyx Assassin and Abbadon seem to imply some sort of antagonistic relationship between the two. Seems like Abbadon is the one target Nyx sends her assassins after that has never gone successfully.

She was a priestess who cursed Warwick because he was a mass murderer who used chemicals to kill people. Her curse turned him into a werewolf and her into a half goat lady.
Abaddon's textures still reflect his concept art. He still has a cloak, an ethereal mount, and a Nyx-like helmet that hides his face. If you look at his textures you'll see there is no texture for his face anywhere.
It seems the typical standard for hero looks has greatly risen since last year. Almost every hero that's come out after KotL (Nyx, Visage, Meepo, Medusa, Skywrath, Troll, Timbersaw and others) went through multiple iterations before finally getting in. Abaddon doesn't seem to be any different here
I Think abandon is supposed to be the Demon commander that Legion Commander Duels in her lore... what with the mists and demon ruler and whatnot.

Im so glad Im not the only one who thinks like that. Don't get me wrong, the concept art is cool but I like way to more the Death Knight model from wc3.

It might be possible that Abaddon and legion have met, due to Legion Commander's lore talking about a creature made of mist.
