You know, I realized something today. Does anyone remember when Chipotle was owned by McDonald's?
EDIT: Not sure what the boxes are for, but I'm also half-delusional from fever...
What's the screen tech called that means all pixels are powered at the same time rather than having the power "wave" through?
My googling skills aren't what they used to be.
Anyway, that, along with the lenses in the rift, I think would make it difficult to do AR with a transparent screen. Cameras seem like the better option.
Are you talking about where the screen's backlight strobes off and on to hide middle-draw states?
If so, it's a low persistence display.
If you mean one where all pixels are drawn instantly and the screen is full-persistance, then I have no idea.

No, it's not persistence. Global display sounds right. Also, global display and low persistence aren't mutually exclusive, because the rift has both.
Edit: that, and oled panels aren't backlit

I thought the point of low persistence was to emulate a global display, right?
If we have a global display then there would be no need to strobe as there could be no afterimage / ghosting?

global display means all the pixels change at the same time, persistance is how long each frame will be shown on the screen.
I dont know much about these glasses, but is cv1 that much better than dk2?
You can't technically answer that question since CV1 isn't done yet, but if you've read through this thread at all you'd know all bets are on that it'll be significantly improved from DK2.
I already know a few things, and i also know that dk2 will get oled screen or something, the benefit will be higher screen refresh i believe?
We're still not on the same page here. DK2 is already out. CV1 will improve upon it, most likely with better latency, refresh rate, tracking solutions, resolution and possibly display quality as well.
I really want an Oculus, I want the consumer version with all the polish but I really hate waiting. I want to have one for The Forest beta release.
virtual dual screen 3D-on-2D gaming multitasking
You could just make 3D models in mid air like a Tony Stark hologram. Adjust vertex's with VR tweezers.
Somebody on the subreddit took the effort of compiling a list of the non-waifu Rift stuff from Japan:

Waiting will be worth it.
I really hope so. This puddle of drool isn't getting any smaller.
So is there anything solid on the C1's release? (late this year or early next year?)
This album came in today.

Might have to check it out.

We expect by the end of the year but so far everything is

New demos on share.oculusvr.com btw.

Where's the joke?
mocking posts that say it seriously
really its a waste of a post
[editline]10th April 2014[/editline]
in that list there's an Attack On Titan game
its so great that someone thought to do that, but the gameplay is very bare bones and fundamentally bad
i with feng lee's unity game would support the Rift

if VR takes off like we all hope it will, we'll have a trove of great indie games for it
already my coworkers know about the Rift thanks to facebook

Palmer explains the Facebook deal, in case you're still miffed.
That stock music hahaha
To add to what people said earlier, I think something like ARI from heavy rain would be amazing with the rift.

Well, he seems happy.

What's the technology called that blinks the screen black between frames to prevent motion blur?

Low persistence.
The next David Attenborough wildlife documentary will be filmed for the Oculus Rift

My two favorite things!
I still don't know how I feel about "the full 360 degree experience." Just a big 3D movie screen in the rift would be better imo. Everyone could have their own imax theater. I feel like you're going to miss too much with the "full experience"
