It's cool that it's possible to do things like that, but what use does it have? I mean why scan your room and look at it in 3d if you can just put the Rift away? Unless you want to put objects into the world I see no use for that.

Think google glass but better Also AR games that analyze your real world surroundings and transcribe it into a game. Imagine playing doom with the OR. Except the level design is based on the actual layout of your home/room, so you can just run around your home as if it were actually doom. Or just to overlay some kind of effect over everything. I.E. make your world look like a painting.

anyone know of any tutorials on getting the oculus rift to work with team fortress? i can't for the life of me get it to work. i'm following [url=http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Oculus_Rift_User_Guide]this guide[/url] and typing 'vr_calibration' into the console doesn't do anything. when i get in game the graphics just glitch straight away too. this is what i'm getting [t]http://i.imgur.com/5DNWtMz.jpg[/t] [editline]1st May 2013[/editline] i got it working with half life 2 and dear esther though. it worked okay but you really have to adjust the seperation and convergence with the vireio hotkeys to get the image right, and it still doesn't look perfect.

Apparently the next version will have actual calibration profile saving (which it doesn't do now), so you wouldn't have to reset all the settings every time.

my brother got his hydra today he hasn't had a chance to play around with it yet so he's giving it to me for a day so i can mess around with it + the oculus rift. has the guy who made the hydra + rift mod in hl2 released it to the public yet?

I recorded some hl2 with razer hydra plas rate and supscribe [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwF5p3bNYB8[/media] I was supposed to use the oculus rift as well but my brother forgot to bring it home i'll have to record another video once i get it back and the guy updates the vr mod. the 3d effect is way too disorienting at the moment.

And I'm pretty sensitive to it. I think the bigger issue is that you don't move as far in real life as you do in game and its a little disorienting. Playing it without the Oculus rift is also a pain in the ass cause you can't look up and down easily making aiming a bitch. Also turning on the yaw axis is a bitch too, I'm not sure if that's easier with the Rift. But pretty much all of these are software problems, not hardware problems. They should be gone soon.
I just realized how much a Spiderman-ish game would work with the Hydra and Rift.
