Saw this come by on the Oculus subreddit. For anyone that is interested on how everything got rolling just a few years back... http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=120&t=14967
$150 sounds a bit sensationalized, and having everyone disappointed when they announce the actual price wouldn't be good.
There won't be any disappointment. I've got a pile of cash stored away for a VR headset, I'm going to pay whatever it'll cost. I really doubt, with their current trend of bargain basement prices, that the CV1's going to be higher than the dev kits. I'd wager it'll end up at $150-200. Any higher, and they don't have any guarantee of marketability.

No longer the plastic case that DK1 had (which was kinda neat but oh well). Edit: Nate Mitchell called it a 'prototype' box, so it might still change.
can probably repurpose the DK1 box all we like not impossible to get egg carton foam inserts to cut up ourselves
Well that saves me a lot of time on cutouts with the case I have already.
Looks like we'll be seeing a Clueless Gamer episode on VR in the near future. Conan was playing the downhill street Morpheus demo right before it was Engadget's turn.
The private room, elevated above the crazed throngs of E3 attendees, was dark and oppressively stuffy. Inside, Conan O'Brien lay on a beanbag in front of Sony's newest virtual reality demo for its Project Morpheus headset: Street Luge. And he was surrounded by two Nintendo booth babes -- an awkward collision of rival gaming worlds that wasn't lost on Sony PR. Conan was finishing up a shoot for a spoof segment on Morpheus and I had to wait for the celebrity fanfare to stop.
http://www.engadget.com/2014/06/11/the-future-of-sony-virtual-reality-e3-morpheus/

Nintendo isn't exactly known for powerful hardware. I don't think they'll hop on the VR bandwagon for quite a while.
Nintendo isn't exactly known for powerful hardware.
Nintendo isn't exactly known for powerful hardware. I don't think they'll hop on the VR bandwagon for quite a while.
Nintendo's already jumped on the VR bandwagon. Way back in 1995. But yeah, I get what you're saying.
I'm a bit late, but Great Power is one of my new favourite Rift demos. Flying around the city is loads of fun, and the citizen rescuing minigame shows how accurate you can be with your head.

Sense of vertigo is super intense.
You know, Nintendo's always one for releasing weird, innovative stuff...
Actually, Nintendo put out a statement saying VR “Isn’t Quite There Yet” http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-virtual-reality-isn-t-quite-there-yet/1100-6420488/ But that was yesterday, before Miyamoto tried it. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] If Miyamoto likes it, Nintendo might try VR again sooner than we think. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] Wait, it was the same day
He's kinda right. Even Oculus is like "we have a long ways to go." Also every single person in the comments trying to defend Oculus has this chev93489 guy saying "obvious troll is obvious." Glad to see that Gamespot never really grew up. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] Some guy said that he had an Oculus devkit and someone said Sony paid him to say that.
