I never understood the whole "AAA" stuff. I asked my room-mate to describe a "AAA" movie. Then a "B-Grade" movie, then I asked, whats a "A" movie? Is there a C?
Maybe not C movies, but X ones. XXX movies. Those are good for a rift.
AAA games are anti-air games where you destroy aircraft
Nice article on hardware requirements and more: http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/16/5815250/oculus-rift-consumer-samsung
I asked Nate Mitchell, the VP of Product at Oculus VR, whether he worries about that aspect of the hardware. "Yes," he answered. So how do you fix that particular issue? "We have John Carmack," Oculus founder Palmer Luckey said with a smile.
Can't argue with that.

I havn't seen anything about this. To me Bethesda (FO and ES) are the biggest and most vital games I can play on Rift, but I haven't heard of any decoupled hands mods. Like being able to move your hands with a motion controller not just making movements and to press buttons. Is this possible? Even if say, striking anywhere on a monster doesn't actually do anything different as long as it /looks/ like your hands are moving as you use them. I'm also looking very much forward to the game that makes an ES experience in co-op (ES:O somewhat counts but it's far off).

All hail! Also, less than half a month until July. We should start getting news on DK2 shipping dates and stuff soon, right?
Samsung files trademark for "Gear VR" http://www.cultofandroid.com/64650/samsungs-oculus-rift-rival-named-gear-vr/ It begins
Also, I'm not able to find much. Are there any actual, non-bullshit, current studies or articles on the effects of violence in VR? I can imagine a game like DayZ having a really intense effect on you in VR. With the level of presence and impact on memory being described by people.
Also, less than half a month until July. We should start getting news on DK2 shipping dates and stuff soon, right?
Everyone will get an email when they start. https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=9707#p124215 But who knows if that means shipping from china or shipping from stocked warehouses near you, find out more later.
or july 1st or july 31st for that matter...

You don't feel pain or fully immersed in the games, and even with a CV1/2/3 of a rift, I doubt you'll feel 100% immersed in the game. You'll only be effected if you already have problems with reality. Also for Skyrim, there is a mod for hydra controllers, it works. But is a bit wonky.

That said, once we do achieve high quality VR, I'm expecting at least someone to get PTSD from a horror game. Followed by controversial media attention.

like that would stop them?

Really, the only thing a slanderous Fox News report would do would be slightly damage the probability of conservative, white, middle-class, Christian parents from buying this for their kids for a few months. Considering the main target audience isn't conservative, white, middle-class, Christian parents, I'd say they're not exactly in any danger of that. GTA:V wasn't, and Fox News ran stories for weeks. Went on to become the sellingest game of all time, in fact.
Iribe confirms CV1 will have no screen door effect whatsoever. http://venturebeat.com/2014/06/14/how-oculus-vr-is-starting-to-change-the-direction-of-gaming-interview/ Interesting interview overall
I just want it to happen soon, whatever they do. I really don't think I can wait until next Summer or Autumn for VR. I'm actually considering picking up a DK2, provided I end up with a job in the next few weeks, just so I can calm the hype a bit. I've been following the Rift now for two years, and it always seems like it's just nearly here, but they always have one more thing they want to do. I guess that's probably par for the course in a lot of product development cycles, but it feels different here because we're following it every step of the way. EDIT: Something interesting in that interview is that Zuckerberg was apparently really enthusiastic about VR. He apparently shares the same vision as the rest of the Oculus crew, which was something they didn't get from anyone else. (Honestly, outside of the data mining stuff they do with Facebook, it's a pretty solid product. Very well-built, well thought-out. There's a reason Facebook's THE social media experience now.) I'm not going to say we should expect the same level of quality with the Rift as we've gotten with Facebook (because of the implication), but interviews like these make it seem like the project's in good hands.
that's weird when I was ordering my DK2 it said it would ship in august
that's because you're slow, the first ~30-40k orders are shipping in july and the rest in august

Oculus 'acquired' the Carbon Design team, an industrial and product engineering group. Christ who doesn't oculus own now? This is good.
At this rate Oculus will be the google of hardware.
This is actually sort of comical how Facebook bought a company that, in-turn, bought a company. I wonder if we'll see an n-th acquisition some time soon.
