"No Man's Sky will have Rift support." Suddenly I want one around 3000% more than I did before.

Man I played Zombies on the Holodeck today and I think it is my favourite Rift experience. The way you have to pick up weapons and stuff is just awesome and really immersive. It makes me want to start working on an actually survival horror zombie game with similar mechanics but make it actually scary. Selling my DK1 on Thursday so I think I will preorder the DK2.
Incoming cheap DK1's on craigslist and ebay. I cannot wait.
anyone have a DK1 they don't use, or won't use?
I figure once CV1 comes out, I'll probably send my DK2 up to some friends in Illinois. I won't need it once I upgrade, so someone else may as well get some use out of it. All my other friends live down here in Tennessee, so they'll get a chance to try whatever I've got. If it really is one of those things you have to try to understand, then I've got some unwritten obligation to demo it if I'm going to be an early adopter. Is that pointless romanticism? [editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
"No Man's Sky will have Rift support." Suddenly I want one around 3000% more than I did before.
Rift support was the only reason I'd ever buy No Man's Sky. Good to see I'll have a system-selling virtual experience to show off when the time comes.
VR is beginning to gain traction with the canine demographic.
Wat
today is (possibly) the day i am spending it on the beach
Wat
Dogulus Rrrrift.
Well i just pre-ordered a DK2, Can't wait to mess around with it and show the family some tech demos. Now we play the waiting game until august.
Shits going down at the official Oculus forums, the entire team suddenly came online to view the DK2 thread(s), including The Admin account which is only online if the forums need changing (like for example adding a new section for the DK2, hint hint). Not to mention the mysterious "Hey guys" that cybereality posted for no particular reason in the thread talking about when he's gonna announce the shipment update. The time is dawning! I can feel it!
I dunno, feels like a bit of clutching at straws it's always fun to hype though
I dunno, feels like a bit of clutching at straws it's always fun to hype though
Yes it is
I dunno, feels like a bit of clutching at straws it's always fun to hype though
clutching at straws would be if someone saw one or two devs visit the thread and said something big was up. If the whole dev team shows up in a relevant spot it's clear they're up to something in-office
clutching at straws would be if someone saw one or two devs visit the thread and said something big was up. If the whole dev team shows up in a relevant spot it's clear they're up to something in-office
but it doesn't really mean anything
I know it's kind of surprising but I know a guy who's a higher up on some kinda forum it means they're anticipating a lot of traffic in that thread, probably when they use the one admin account to create a new section like Orkel mentioned. It doesn't directly mean they're making any definitive announcements, but if they do set up the new section (in anticipation of shipping soon), this happens: • mass hysteria over something happening then they have to explain what's actually happening before the speculation draws in tons of news sites and big talkers coming up with bullshit facts. We already have people wildly speculating/assuming there's an announcement today or that they're flat out shipping right now, so in the very least they've got people waiting to pounce on any wrong facts
Remind me: how much money will I be charged here? 100%? I thought they may have placed a hold or taken $50 or something just need to know about how much to keep my checking until it ships [editline]1st July 2014[/editline] edit: yeah its $50
and i have to wait until august for mine :( i will not make this mistake again
http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/29lwoc/official_dk2_update_july_1st_2014/
The first batch of official DK2s have left the manufacturing facility and are making their way to our distribution centers now. We expect to ship roughly 10,000 DK2s from the factory in July, with just over half of the units through distribution centers and on their way to doorsteps before the end of the month. The very first units are expected to reach developers the week of July 14th. Tracking numbers for all DK2s will be generated as soon as the shipment has been processed by a distribution center. Please take a moment to confirm that your shipping address is up to date via the Oculus Sales page (https://www.oculusvr.com/sales/). We'll ship to the address on file, and if the information is incorrect, it may cause delivery delays. In the event that your payment information is no longer valid, you'll receive an email prior to shipment with instructions on how to complete your payment. We're now over 45,000 DK2 pre-orders, which is incredibly exciting. That said, we're slightly behind in manufacturing and there's currently a high chance that some developers with estimated shipping in July may not have their DK2s shipped until August. We have a team in China working on continued ramp of production at our factory, and we'll work our way through the queue as fast as we can. Once your Development Kit 2 is ready for shipment, you'll receive an email with a tracking number which can be used to see an estimated delivery date. Please do not contact Oculus support asking for a shipping estimate, as we do not know the status of your package until a tracking number has been generated. We'll continue to post status updates, so everyone can stay current on what's going on behind the scenes. Thanks again for your continued support, and we hope everyone is excited to be begin working with DK2!
[editline]2nd July 2014[/editline] "We expect to ship roughly 10,000 DK2s from the factory in July, with just over half of the units through distribution centers and on their way to doorsteps before the end of the month." That means only something like ~6,000 will actually be in the people's hands by the end of the month. There were 12,500 pre-orders in the first 36 hours, so unless you ordered within the first 12 or something, have fun waiting until August :I [sp]i put mine in 50 minutes after they went up so i should be saaaafe[/sp]
what time did preorders go up? mine is 2014-03-19 09:47:13 but that might be PST? I don't remember ordering that early in the day
Preorders went up at or near March 19, 2014 - 08:00 PDT So you ordered at around 1h 47min (check your confirmation mail to make sure it's PDT). If my calculations are even close to correct and the first DK2s really do arrive on the doorsteps on the 14th, expect to get yours around the 16th-18th
ah yes, it says at the top of the order screen its PDT
Mar 19, 2014 10:32 AM PDT Will i get one this month you think? I ordered as soon as the freaking paypal button worked.
to be honest there's probably no way to tell. its 10000 units total in july. even then thats just shipped, not delivered. and then theres this
As far as I can tell it'll be first come first served on a BATCH basis. So Distribution centres will get X crates of them and will ship them out to first come first served in that region. I don't know how the actual distribution numbers are being worked out from China to distribution centres though.
mine was ordered in april, see y'all in 2015
ordered mine this month, I have to wait until august :(
ordered mine this month, I have to wait until august :(
This month? As in placed order today/yesterday? You'll have to wait longer than august [editline]2nd July 2014[/editline] Oculus just changed the pre-order page. It now says "New orders are expected to begin shipping in September 2014." https://www.oculusvr.com/order/

It now says "New orders are expected to begin shipping in September 2014." https://www.oculusvr.com/order/
Does this mean I missed the boat, and should just wait for CV1? My biggest concern is that CV1's now more likely to ship next Summer, and I really don't want to wait a whole year for it. A lot happens in a year.
Mar 19, 2014 08:36 AM PDT see you on July 14th bitches [editline]2nd July 2014[/editline] that said, I'm in Vegas from the 14th until the 20th so that gives a bit of leeway anyway - I should have a DK2 waiting for me when I get home!
