fingers crossed for an early august shipment for me
I'm moving out soon and I'd rather not travel half across the country to pick up my DK2

Have your post office do a package intercept. In the States, our post offices will allow you to get anything with your name and old address shipped to your new location. I don't know if they do that in Sweden, but I don't know why they wouldn't.
The positive thing about the delay is that we now know exactly when the shipping confirmations will start to arrive. The DK2s are currently waiting in the distribution centers for the go-ahead from Oculus and when they give it next wednesday/thursday said DK2s should get shipped immediately. Like popping open the cork of champagne.
Fucking knew this would happen. Going to Japan for 2 weeks on the 26th :v:

September 19th as said before. I can't help but think that the CV1 or one of the CV1 prototypes will be shown there.
fyi
Please can you give us some idea what time we had to have ordered to get in on the first batch?
No, because that answer varies by region.

So as a Canadian... should I expect mine next month? (I am guessing "Yes") (I ordered on the 2nd day)
Yes, soory.
Granted the Canadian one does say second day...
Second day and Canada don't mix well together.

I'll say it again, September would be the perfect time to announce a Holiday/Q1/Q2 release date.
The Unreal Engine 4.3 update just released, with proper DK2 support. The Couch Knights demo is available on the marketplace.
I feel there's going to be a shift in focus as we get closer to CV1. No one wants to launch a platform with little to no content, especially mostly unfinished / broken indie stuff. Oculus needs more time solely to let more content be prepped.
Well, I got in at just before midnight the second day, so it sounds like late July/August for me.
My UE4.3 playthings await.
starting to think it was a good thing I bought it in august so devs got time to update their games to DK2
at least that's what I tell myself

Oculus Connect Applications Now Open!
We’ve started accepting applications for Oculus Connect! The registration form is located at the bottom of the main page at https://www.oculusvr.com/connect.
Attendees will be the first to learn about upcoming Oculus technology, with sessions and workshops led by Oculus engineers and industry pioneers. Developers at the event will also have opportunities to receive design and engineering feedback directly from the Oculus team in hands-on labs.

The event will also feature keynotes from our very own Brendan Iribe, Palmer Luckey, John Carmack, and Michael Abrash.
“Now is a special time. I believe that VR will have a huge impact in the coming years, but everyone working today is a pioneer. The paradigms that everyone will take for granted in the future are being figured out today; probably by people reading this message.” – John Carmack, Oculus CTO
Applications are being considered based on a variety of factors. We wish we could host the entire community, but physical attendance is limited and, as a developer conference, active developers will be given priority.
If you haven’t already applied, take a moment to do so now at https://www.oculusvr.com/connect! We’re reviewing applications starting Sunday, July 20th at 11:59pm PT and we’ll send out the the first wave of invitations later that week. Applications submitted beyond Sunday night will be considered for the waitlist.
Thank you to everyone who’s already applied. We’re looking forward to seeing many of you there. And remember, if you can’t make the show, we’ll be livestreaming the keynotes. More details on the livestreams to follow closer to the event.
Oculus @ GDC 2014 Video Recap
With the launch of DK2, GDC 2014 was a special moment for VR, so we brought our production crew along to capture the event as it happened.
We were thrilled to meet so many members of the community and introduce them to DK2. Whether you were you were there or not, here’s a glimpse of that week from the show floor at the Moscone Center in San Francisco:

A huge thank you to Tim Hyten and his crew for their stellar work helping to produce the video.
It’s an incredible, unique time to be a part of this industry. Thank you all for being a part of it!

I think the two next computers have rust running.
It is Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. I spent so many hours dueling on that map.
Heads up for laptop users with Nvidia Optimus getting a DK2, your laptop might be sub-optimal for VR. The video output has to pass through the onboard Intel GPU which both limits the refresh rate and introduces extra latency:
http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/2ae65d/living_off_grid_best_current_laptop_for_oculus/ciu8bkv
It's a relatively quiet issue but basically anything with Nvidia Optimus is unlikely to allow you to use DK2 at the full 75hz. The reason being is with Nvidia Optimus the Nvidia graphics card is not actually connected directly the the video output. Instead it does the rendering when asked to and passes off the result to the frame buffer from Intel's integrated graphics. This means that all rendering technically gets passed through Intel's Integrated graphics no matter what.
The problem is that Intel's graphics chip won't go above 60hz. So you can connect the Rift but even if your dedicated Nvidia card could totally do 75hz if it was the connected graphics chip, the Intel card is technically doing the work getting the render to the display. That means it's subject to its limitations. Alienware's laptops apparently don't do this because it can introduce some latency and sometimes real performance issues.
I'm honestly disgusted that it's so hard to get something without Optimus now.
As to that claim that Alienware is not affected, the Nvidia Optimus page advertises an Alienware using Optimus.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_technology.html
[editline]20th July 2014[/editline]
The Asus G75 laptop series does not use Optimus. (FUCK YEAH)
Some people online say that Asus isn't a fan of Optimus.
What about Apple's weird dual-GPU implementation that's not Nvidia Optimus, but uses a lot of the same systems?
I just realized i haven't fully paid my DK2 yet. I tried to pay with credit card but i get:
"Error (E00027): This transaction has been declined."
Is this a known problem? I google'd it and it seems it's because there's a lot of traffic currently. Would that be correct?
