Blah, i had to order at 10:30 am PDT due to the paypal system not working till then, darn you oculus.
Well shit, I was gonna pre-order so I could get in the August release when I get my money but waiting will have to recommence I guess.
Tracking numbers are starting to come in for EU.
An hour ago I got a UPS Quantum view shipping email with a tracking number that shows Oculus as the sender. I'm in Germany and they ship from GB. Order info still says 'processing' and no mail from Oculus directly (ordered 36 Minutes after that page went live). Right now it only shows that a Label has been printed for the shipment, but it says the scheduled delivery date is Monday July 28th.

I received tracking number from ups some fifty minutes ago. Clicking it only gives "Order Processed: Ready for UPS UPS has received the electronic transmission of the shipment details and billing information for this shipment from the sender. Once the shipment is moving within the UPS network, the tracking status will be updated."
*it's happening image*
Wow so 2 hours really was too late Is this batch really 10000 units? Or even 5000?
I can't wait to watch videos of people enjoying their new Rifts. I'm waiting for the CV1 though. CAUSE I'M A GOOD BOY

I just realized gamestop uses the oculus logo for their website.
To be fair, the logo is about as simplistic as it gets. It's literally just an eye, I bet there's thousands of logos just like Oculus Rift's.
New SDK is out
The Oculus SDK 0.4.0 is now available for developers to download. This new release is a significant upgrade from the previous version and includes a number of new features. The biggest new addition is the introduction of the Oculus Runtime, a separate download from the SDK that needs to be installed by end-users prior to using the device. The Oculus Runtime includes the Oculus Config Utility, a background service process and the necessary drivers for both the headset and camera. Some of the benefits of the new runtime include allowing multiple applications to interface with the Rift simultaneously, easier access for changing settings and a better user experience. We are also introducing the Oculus Display Driver for the Windows platform, which streamlines access to the Oculus Rift screen. This new feature allows direct rendering to the Rift itself instead of treating the headset as a regular monitor. This optional approach reduces latency and avoids the complications of Windows monitor settings. The driver also supports a new SDK feature: the Oculus Rift screen can be mirrored to a window on an external monitor. Finally, there are a number of added functions and changes to the API, which may be required when you upgrade your application or game to use the latest SDK. We would recommend all developers dive into the new 0.4.0 SDK as soon as possible, this will be the best way to get VR applications fully working on the Development Kit 2.
I won't receive them until next week anyway since I'm in Sweden but the status update must still be reassuring.
I really don't know why so many NON-DEVS are buying dk2
What HMD should enthusiasts use instead? There is none. It's not a finished product but people are well aware of that.
netherlands and sweden. I'm in the US. remember that how stuff works in other regions is a bit different
