I was reading the oculus subreddit and I came acrros a post Like Jesus Christ we really are doing this getting used to thing with VR. I'm afraid some people are going to get so used to it they'll forget to eat or something, just like those chinese people whom die in cyber cafes etc. Gee can't wait for CV1 ffs.
Anyone who actually forgets to eat, considering it's an instinct built into the core of our brain, probably deserves to die
The UPS guy in Sweden asked "is this the Oculus Rift"? "Sure as hell." 9:34 and 9:37 order finally here.
I wish I was rich like you guys, I'm playing Eurotruck Simulator 2 at the minute and would love to try these out but they're too expensive though probably worth every penny
I wish I was rich like you guys, I'm playing Eurotruck Simulator 2 at the minute and would love to try these out but they're too expensive though probably worth every penny
start saving for the cv1! [editline]31st July 2014[/editline]
The UPS guy in Sweden asked "is this the Oculus Rift"? "Sure as hell." 9:34 and 9:37 order finally here.
both mouthwatering and painful to look at
I wish i ordered mine earlier, I most likely would get mine late august or early september :(
start saving for the cv1!
When's that out and how much? as I might just do that
When's that out and how much? as I might just do that
No specifc release date other than I think they said 2015? but most peoples guesses are Q2 2015. They want to sell it cheaper than the DK2 which is $350 so I'd expect somewhere between 250-300$ (not sure what the development costs are though.) regardless it's plenty of time to save up and get pumped.
Any Oculus Rift support for Star Citizen yet? I'm pretty pumped to try that shit as soon as my DK2 arrives.
When's that out and how much? as I might just do that
It's been said to be sold at-cost. My guess will be ~$150 or less. To be on the safe side, save up $200 if you can so you're prepared for a higher cost.
lucky bastard, you got a front panel cover [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] well maybe mine is a limited edition 'no front panel cover' model so there
I could maybe 3D print you one (once my printer works again) :v: I really feel like buying the rift. I got the money but I'm just not sure yet. I think I'll wait till CV1 gets released (does anyone have a slight estimate on when pre orders will start?)
do you really think it'll be sold for less than 200? I think that's a bit of a stretch
Colour me optimistic, but yes. Well.... I forgot about the shipping costs, so... maybe?
not very nice
not very nice
not very nice, but dang, pretty good profit. not that I could even think of doing something like that to my precious rift
That samsung smartphone screen, neat.
For some reason I busted laughing seeing the 'actual' note 3 screen. Not something that looks typical of OEM parts. Either way repairing the screen is a no brainier.

Either way repairing the screen is a no brainier.
I also burst out laughing but then thought about it and the screen on the Note 3 is actually pretty fucking great. I guess it was way cheaper for them to buy it like that (including touchscreen controller :v:), and I applaud their choice of display.
not very nice
My DK2 had a price tag of around 490 dollars after taxes and shipping, so it's actually not that outrageous yet :v: Meanwhile I keep looking at the Rift config demo scene in amazement (the plants are SO SHARP and SO SMOOTH) because I haven't been able to get a single other demo working fluidly yet. I've resorted to tapping on my desk, while looking away in the scene, making it feel like I'm actually tapping on the virtual desk outside of my view. Thrilling. Now let me play games damnit :( [editline]31st July 2014[/editline]
I think you could make a business out of 3D printing awesome logos and stuff on the front cover - I would buy one from you
Though you have to avoid obstructing the LEDs from view.
My biggest fear regarding the Rift is outrageous shipping costs. I'm holding out until the CV1 but I have a feeling that shipping to the UK will double the price or something. It's the only thing that could prevent me from placing an order on day 1.
The CV1 will be sold in stores around the world though, not just via oculus distribution centers. Just go and pick up one in your local Wal-Mart sometime in 2015

Not Wal-Mart though, we don't have those in the UK. :v:
Though you have to avoid obstructing the LEDs from view.
No LEDs on the area where the little cable cover sits AFAIK
The first consumer version will be stupidly cheap, due to the facebook thing, so the first version is kinda them making a name for themselves i guess
Date: Mar 30, 2014 10:19 AM PDT Still waiting, did i miss the first batch?
Mar 30 orders are like 5th batch lol [editline]31st July 2014[/editline] first batch was the first hour or second hour p much depending on your region
how long do you think it'll take till I get my june 27th order? august? september? febuary?
how long do you think it'll take till I get my june 27th order? august? september? febuary?
I believe estimates were still August back then?
yeah they were ... but with the current shipping delays will I even get it in august?
yeah they were ... but with the current shipping delays will I even get it in august?
Shipping delays? Only the first batch was delayed. Everything after should be send on their planned dates. At least I didn't hear about any new delays. [editline]1st August 2014[/editline] War Thunder apparently received DK2 support: http://devblog.warthunder.com/2014/07/31/update-1-41-29-50/?hl=en
