can someone explain upscaling to me? it just seems to me like you're stretching out the pixels until you reach that resolution which definately sounds like a blur. I know I'm wrong but plz why?
it removes the screendoor
like imagine if one pixel is like an X on a 1080p screen
rendering 1080p on a 4K screen will basically turn that one pixel into four
XX
XX
but they all fit within one X of a 1080p screen rendering 1080p
so the screendoor is absolutely tiny
you don't also see the pentile matrix / "laddering" because the subpixels scale down with it
so rendering 1080p/4K will be fuckloads clearer than 1080p/1080p

and how much would that effect the preformance compared to actual 4k?

not much

if at all depending on how scaling is implemented

oh god
Hnnghh it's SO HARD to not buy the DK2. I really fucking want one, after trying it at GDC, but I keep telling myself I should wait for the CK1.

Just gotta be patient, man.
I really really want to pre-order the consumer version. Is there any idea when I can do that?

yes
Oculus responds to the whole lenses getting scratched by the cleaning cloth issue:
Guys, we are taking the scratched lens issue very seriously, and looking into what the problem could be now. I don't know what the solution will be yet, but we are on it. In addition, it only appears to be affecting a small handful of people compared to the thousands of kits we sent out without any complaint about the lenses. However, we will continue to investigate.
So it seems it's not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Probably just a manufacturing issue in a single batch or something with either the lenses or the cloth.

I'm just going to pretend like I don't have any idea what you all are talking about, and whistle nonchalantly over here...
... Without pants...
I hear the CV1 is coming out early 2015? Sounds perfect...

Have you guys heard of the GTX 880 4 GB supposedly being 200 bucks? This could be amazing in combination with CV1.

Wow, really? If that's actually true then I might buy myself a new videocard
How is that even remotely viable? Also source.
Better not be true, basically sold my arm for a 780.
Though I do hope it's true cause than it'd be a cheap jump to get sli going.

i find it really hard to believe that
Can't wait to try the Oculus Rift next week on Gamescom.

I need a source on that. Like, I-I really...
I need a source. I need that.
any GTX x80 will cost an arm and a leg, my old 580's are worth $200 used
I am running Windows 7, AMD FX 8350 Eight Core Processor, 8GB ram and a GeForce GTX 660Ti
How will it handle the Oculus?

its a display device. games are the things which require processing power. ie it depends on the game/demo.
