Makes me sad I can't buy a hydra. :(
If you didn't live such a distance from, I'd loan mine to you.
Can grab the latest build here: http://www.reddit.com/r/hlvr/
And i'm just sitting here being left handed.
finally got riftmax to work (had to use the latest version + the force d3d11 executable) The 3d youtube videos I was playing either didn't have much depth or weren't in 3d. And its a shame the software doesn't want to play my m2ts bluray rips still pretty neat though. needs an imax version

It is amazing. Was jacked in for about 1,5 hours and got no nausea. The revolver is so satisfying to use with the hydras They just need to implement chromatic aberration correction.
Orkel is going to get lost in the matrix.
Orkel is going to get lost in the matrix.
the matrix already has him
speaking of which, I played Elite: Dangerous with my DK2 online for the first time properly last night, I was in there for at least an hour and a half playing with a friend, and it was just incredible. I also tried Ocean Rift and The Chair demos yesterday, Ocean Rift was frigging brilliant, it almost felt like I was SCUBA diving again.
Does Star Citizen work right now with the DK2? I'm pretty keen for some dogfighting once the fucker finally arrives in the post
I'm starting a course in college in a few days that gives me access to UE4 and Rifts. Pretty sure they're DK1 but I'm excited nonetheless having never tried VR before.
Quake 2 VR was fantastic until the action started picking up. Bunny hopping around to get those fucking dogs off my ass while trying to look around to see where various gunfire is coming from is a little rough for someone still getting their VR legs. Best DK2 experience I've had yet, though.
Fuck ravenholm and fuck fast zombies
What's the most recent guesstimate on the CV1?
What's the most recent guesstimate on the CV1?
somewhere in 2015
Fuck ravenholm and fuck fast zombies
I can see you're just going to looooove the Sand Traps chapter.
So, uh... when does the consumer Oculus come out? ;_; edit: Totally didn't see that, sorry. :v:
I can see you're just going to looooove the Sand Traps chapter.
the vehicles in hl2 seem messed up in the rift. at least to me getting in the jeep cause the fov to go way down it was weird
I'm guessing I'll get my rift probably in the first week or maybe a bit after in september. Part of me is like "fuck, september." but then I realise september is in less than a week, wait, holy fuck time is going by fast! Time, please stop going so fast and making me older, but maybe go 200% speed until I get my rift

I ordered July 28, and was in the September batch, but considering on how slow the orders are moving out, I doubt I'll get mine then.
When did you order? I ordered July 28, and was in the September batch, but considering on how slow the orders are moving out, I doubt I'll get mine then.
june 27th. I was predicted to be for the august batch but because of the delays I wasn't in the august batch. I'd assume your order would probably be dispatched somewhere between the 20th of september and the end of of september considering how the orders are getting easier and easier to go through. [editline]25th August 2014[/editline]
So, uh... when does the consumer Oculus come out? ;_;
that question is literally given the best answer we got 2 posts above
I'm really torn between buying the DK or waiting for the CV and there are several reasons. The DK seems to work just fine and lots of people seem to be having fun with it and it is still such a long wait until CV1. However, I don't really want to waste my money on a version I'll inevitably need to replace and I'm not sure if my computer skills are good enough to get it all set up. VVVVVVVVV: Ah... Okay, scrap that then.

It's like plugging in another monitor.
I'm really not looking forward to the day CV1 pre-orders go live. I can foresee many downtimes and overwhelming amounts of people swarming. :v:
I'm most looking forward to stepping into my anime body and becoming the beautiful 2D schoolgirl that I've always dreamed of being.
I'm most looking forward to stepping into my anime body and becoming the beautiful 2D schoolgirl that I've always dreamed of being.
I too identify as 2D. Respect, my transdimensional friend [editline]e[/editline] DK2 arrives tomorrow allegedly
came in this morning and I've spent several hours fighting the drivers to get the camera tracking working
Is DK2 the only version currently available? I don't necessarily want all the fancy stuff that comes with it like a motion tracker and all that, but I've been thinking about getting one for a long time and now seems like a good time to do it. Then agian, though, I feel like a lot of stuff would go to waste. Especially the SDK since I don't plan on actually doing anything with it, I just want to use it and fuck around with it. [editline]26th August 2014[/editline] I also don't want to wait years for a commercial version to come out, so I suppose DK2 is my only option. Any benefits of getting DK2 over just buying DK1 off ebay or something? (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of perma'd user - wait for CV1" - Orkel))
came in this morning and I've spent several hours fighting the drivers to get the camera tracking working
Man I've heard a lot of these setup horror stories, I did these steps after reading around oculus reddit and was done in about an hour. Installing SDK/Drivers with a reboot first before plugging things in probably saved me a lot of hassle. My sync cable to IR camera isn't fully recessed on purpose, probably 1 mm gap. I heard people were having issues when plugging it all the way in, so I took a chance and it's been working just fine for me. I had to shove most of my USB devices onto a dedicated hub, and give DK2 two USB 3.0s straight from the back of the PC. maybe I was lucky, not sure.
For those of you who have played the HL2 VR thing, how does the gunplay feel with the hydras? It looks immensely satisfying. I hope they eventually make it so most guns require both hands. It kind of bothers me seeing the player single-hand fire the shotgun, rifles, crossbolt, etc.
The Verge is running a good story on VR, Oculus, and the state of the industry right now. http://www.theverge.com/a/virtual-reality/qa_fb
