Interesting, I wonder how it will differ from the public CV1 if at all.
Probably with the final model of the product. That smooth rounded design.
Interesting, I wonder how it will differ from the public CV1 if at all.
I'm going to guess they'll be production models, just the first production models off the line. They'll pass them out to the privileged developers who've developed bonds with the company so they can touch up their products and give exclusive demos for a short while, spending some time letting supply build up before shipping en masse
I was really hoping to get a CV1 this year but these things take time. I wouldn't want to get eyestrain and headaches while my waifu rides my cock
I don't think CV1 was ever going to happen this year, that was more than a little hopeful
Don't care that CV1 is coming next year, gonna buy DK2 as soon as I get my salary for the month. A co-worker brought his DK1 in today and while I got severely motionsick because of all the blur, the feeling of depth was just out of this world. I was skeptical about the stereoscoping 3D thing, because I've never gotten that to work on me, but since the Oculus pretty much does it for you I was giggling like a schoolgirl when I tried to touch things that weren't there. It was amazing.
they're already selling the things in reasonable volumes, but I was pretty hopeful it'd be something you could eventually come across at a best buy or gamestop. Having freely accessible public trial units for something that jams onto your face is a sanitary nightmare though, it's already saddening just trying to touch demo controllers and handhelds at stores, they're always so grimey and any screen/plastic/glassy elements are scratched all to hell. Having said that though, I wouldn't be surprised if oculus got a deal to demo their units at these kinds of locations, with a station manned by one or more representatives doing the demos to ensure people understand it well.
Right, just like the little Samsung ministore inside Best Buy. They keep the phones and watches clean, help customers out, that sort of thing.
IT WAS DISPATCHED ON 9/11 IT'S HAPPENED [editline]12th September 2014[/editline] wait what the fuck? it's arriving today!!! ITS HAPPENEDINGENDING
I don't think CV1 was ever going to happen this year, that was more than a little hopeful
Before Facebook it was, until now I had been hoping atleast Quarter 1. It stings a bit since it was around this time last year it was gonna be another year.

But this is a beta consumer version doesnt this mean everyone will want to get one? even if its very limited and only for developers as they say. I mean I sure as hell going to want one and ive been holding out to buy one ever since kickstarter for rift went off. would it even be plausible for me to get one with me spamming the website next year summer 24/7 and credit card in my lap. Otherwise id rather go order a DK2 right now instead like waiting ti'll end last year before they mass ship everyone.

Like how CCP had DK2s for months to develop Valkyrie before they ever got to us. The average joe and small indie dev have to wait.
Ugh kind of sad though that the actual consumer version that you and me will be able to reasonably buy is still going to likely be over a year away. So much for the whole "months, not years" thing they said last year. That said, if this summer version is pretty much just CV1 just released like the dev kits have been released in order to not completely choke supply (and to give enough of a time buffer for them to develop the front end software for your average mom and pop) then I'll be jumping into preorder ASAP I'd consider myself an enthusiast but I'm the type of enthusiast that doesn't like to compromise, so I've not jumped into getting dev kits just yet.
Once I know the date the CV1 goes up for pre-order I'll be sure to take the day off to refresh that shit all day long. I can wait for the CV1 but damn did playing with a DK2 make me hype for the consumer release.

Or is there a waiting list after I order one? Its the only drawback keeping me from ordering right now. Money is not really an issue I just cant wait another full year. Beceuse then id rather order one from ebay if that goes faster. Dont really care if theres no warrenty or official support then.

One of my professors walked in carrying a DK2 today! He works in Unreal 4, and is going to let us try some stuff. Holy shit, I get to try one!
If you order now you are most likely looking at a October/November delivery, if we go by the current shipping rates.
Seeing things like this make me jump up in my chair and want to shout "I wanna buy a Rift now!" And then I remember that I'd be translating food budget directly into a devkit and the hype deflates back down to only "pretty excited for CV1". At least Oculus isn't rushing to market with a shit product, that's the best thing about the delay. CV1 is going to be all the better thanks to you guys fucking with kits and finding problems now. [sp]Saying that is how I can sleep at night.[/sp]
I have 85 dollars saved up so far. With any luck i'll have enough cash ready for its release.
I have 85 dollars saved up so far. With any luck i'll have enough cash ready for its release.
I've got enough for a Rift and a 980 right now, but I'm holding off on both until the requirements are finalized. I don't want to buy a new graphics card only to find out I need a new one a month or two later.
This is quite a good way of tracking orders for the people who haven't gotten their DK2 yet: http://www.oculus-tracker.ml
ohly shit i just configured it properly and it's AMAZING. At first I tried the tuscani demo? or something and it was fucking horrible. Maybe it was configuration or whatever but jesus christ it just made me worry for a second that it was the best that the oculus rift could do. So I was a bit disappointed. So then I tried the desk configuration thing, a lot better. But still lacking that gameplay element. Then, I entered the miku entertainment stage . . . I literally sat in there, in amazement, for 30 minutes. Absolutely amazing and I'm looking forward to trying other games. I do need to adjust my positional tracker a bit though so I can look under their skirts though. Amazing!
I do need to adjust my positional tracker a bit though so I can look under their skirts though. Amazing!
You can adjust your height ingame to do that.
another trick I've found to being able to reach weird view spots is if you have a key for re-centering your head position, you move way off to the side/above/below where the positional cam can still see you, set it, then you've got all the range to the other direction to dink with. In Elite: Dangerous I realized how stupidly simple it was to look left and re-center, so I could just look a bit to my right to inspect the back of my cockpit
Damn it the wait is too much. I need a rift in my life.
... this next christmas seasonish cv1 date is gonna break my vow to wait
... this next christmas seasonish cv1 date is gonna break my vow to wait
hold strong to your vows and preserve your VRginity for jesus's sake
... this next christmas seasonish cv1 date is gonna break my vow to wait
give in my child, keeping your VRginity is one of the greatest sins you could commit purchase a dk2, put it on your face and . . . let it happen.
o fuq
I wanted to hold out, but I can't hold back any longer. forgive me
