That feel when your DK2 is sitting in a postage facility 20-30 minutes away from your house but you aren't allowed to pick it up. Oh god.

I downloaded 9GB worth of demos in preparation. Sucks that I'm gonna be busy for the next few days so I won't really be able to use the DK2 much
cyberheist time
payday 2 dlc confirmed [editline]16th September 2014[/editline] Also I can't order the goddamn rift from their site officially, I mean I can but I won't be able to pick it up since I don't have a valid ID and getting one of those in the Stockholm area can generally take forever

It's already been one month since I ordered my DK2, time really flies by.. I'm not updated on where we're at with the orders right now but the expected ship date had just changed to october when I placed my order on Aug 16. Do you think that's still correct, or should I expect to get it in November?
can't you just have it delivered to your house?
I don't know, depends on who gets to handle the package when it arrives to Sweden. If Posten takes it, I'm fucked since they require ID. If DHL takes it, there's a chance they jetpack it to my door.

[editline]16th September 2014[/editline] Or a friend if you don't have a good relationship to your parents or not living at home or it doesn't work out.

I guess the issue would be finding time for my parents to pick it up, but the postal office is like 5 minutes away so it shouldn't be a major issue. Thanks!
I am browsing Facepunch right now with Virtual Desktop on my DK2. Holy shit.
is virtual desktop worth trying?
is virtual desktop worth trying?
It's pretty neat and handy. I'm getting mad motion sickness now without he headset after trying to give HL2 a go. I think I might need a few days to get my body accustomed to this since I was always a motion sickness problem child
we need to watch this in rift theater
"I can carry nearly 80 gigs of data in my head!"
we need to watch this in rift theater
I feel like this movie would have been much more enjoyable if I had a joint beforehand.

It was to much of a mind fight to not order one! And everything I need to become a space armchair jockey in elite dangerous and DCS. Hate how pedal sets set me back as much price as 2 joysticks. 1190 dollar well spend.
So after playing with the DK2 for a few days, gotta say it's pretty fantastic. Having never used a rift before, I've been quite amazed by how real the 3d is, I was expecting a shallow kind of 3d effect like in 3d movies, but when there's an object right in front of you, it looks like it's RIGHT there, and being able to move your head around the space really sells the effect. Half life 2 with the hydras is really fucking cool, and I'm amazed how 1-1 the movement is; every other hydra demo I have tried has had horrible latency. Only issue I have with it is the lack of V-sync, making screen tearing very obvious and rather disorienting/sickening, hopefully this will be fixed soon, because it leaves me with eye strain and motion sickness if I play for more than half an hour. Very cool though, looking forward to more games supporting it
What's everyone's favourite demos/games so far? I tried Lava Inc, Spacewalk and The Little Plane That Could and really enjoyed them.
I found a guy who sold his Donkey Kong 2 within a reasonable price, and he only worked a few minutes away from me! So now I as well can take part in the virtual reality worl- [t]http://i.imgur.com/IClVuxf.png[/t] ... once Oculus fixes their registration site so I can get the runtime drivers, that is... [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] Anyone mind just PMing me the SDK and runtime drivers in case the site doesn't start working in the foreseeable future? :v:
Looks like it is working fine for me. https://developer.oculusvr.com/?action=dl
Looks like it is working fine for me. https://developer.oculusvr.com/?action=dl
I can't go there though, I need to register. And I did, and I verified the email, but now Oculus wants me to tell them what company I work for and once I hit "submit" on their form, it brings me that error aka no download page for me until they fix it [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] Oh, apparently I selected as "part of a company" and not "individual developer". Woops. Now it works.
What's everyone's favourite demos/games so far? I tried Lava Inc, Spacewalk and The Little Plane That Could and really enjoyed them.
Quake 2 VR is pretty damn great.
Aw man, after a while in this thing you start to feel the effect. Like, not so much when you're IN it, but when you step out. Suddenly it's like my real life is being position tracked. Turning my head feels super weird. [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] Also, anyone know of a good VR Cinema alternative for DK2? The only other one I can find costs 10 bucks.
Nvidia's newest Maxwell graphics cards (970/980 etc) have built in support for "VR Direct" amongst other goodies http://videocardz.com/52552/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-and-gtx-970-press-slides-pictures-charts

Question, though. Does anyone else find it moderately disappointing that the 980 only gets 34FPS on Metro 2033 on Ultra 4XAA 1080p? I mean, they really need to learn to optimize their games if the biggest, baddest flagship card to come out of Nvidia can't handle it maxed at 1080p. Crysis3, too, although that's more or less expected.
It's the software's fault.
having dynamic lights everywhere has a performance hit.
It's the software's fault.
Oh, I know it's absolutely the software's fault. I'd imagine in most properly optimized, older games, like TF2 or CS:S/GO, you could probably get a few hundred FPS from this thing. Are they still targeting the $4/550 price point, like they did at the 770/80 launch, or are they pricing this thing with the Titan and their other "big" cards? Do we know that yet?
